Is there a way to do this? I have a bunch of photos scrolling left and right and I need to reduce the jerkiness of the scrolling motion somehow (so it works well on slower machines). Is there another way to do this via AS3?
Is there anyway to make a certain MC in a movie with low quality while the rest are all high quality? Like, I got this movie right, but I used a pixel font for the body text, and no matter what I try the text is ALWAYS antialiased.. I need to be Aliased and the only way to do that is to make the movie low quality.. but that messes up everything else...Is there a setting to keep the text low quality? I am using (fonts for flash).
When I click the quality button, the listener responds (I get the "quality altered" trace), but the quality doesn't change. I don't see a problem in the code, the quality is bound to change because it has to be set as one of the four. What am I doing wrong?
Code: gameStats.qualityButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, alterQuality) function alterQuality(event:MouseEvent) {[code].........
can someone write a script for a button that sets the quality for Low, medium high. (as in scripts for 3 buttons. each buttons sets a different quality) the experiences that i have made with people in these forums have only been good ones.
I am trying to make a quality button, a single button that changes the quality to the next setting.
Right now I am using this code: function changeQuality(event:MouseEvent):void { if(stage.quality==StageQuality.BEST){ stage.quality=StageQuality.HIGH }else if(stage.quality==StageQuality.HIGH){ stage.quality=StageQuality.MEDIUM }else if(stage.quality==StageQuality.MEDIUM){ stage.quality=StageQuality.LOW }else if(stage.quality==StageQuality.LOW){ stage.quality=StageQuality.BEST }}
No errors come up, but it doesn't change the quality either.
How do I change the quality of my movie when I press a certian button? I know you could just right click and change it, but some mac users have to go a step furthur and they might not know how to do it.
For my movie, I plan to have 4 buttons, low, med, high, and auto. I want to specify the points in the movie where the quality should be lowered for slower computers (auto button). The beginning of the slow part would be MED quality and then after it's passed, I want to reset it back to BEST.
I want to set (manually) the skinState (for example 'disabled') of a button (that I skinned) in ActionScript.
For example: I have a button skin with hostComponent: components.backend.btnMenuBakComp The button skin has the default button states (up, over, down, ...), but I want to set one of this skinStates in ActionScript.
For example:
subMenu.btnDashboard.currentState = "disabled";
This doesn't work because the state "disabled" is not known in the component (it is only known in the skinState of btnDashboard).
Is there another solution then load a new skinClass?
I know how to set the style for a radio button in AS3, but is it possible to apply a text format style to a radio button group, rather than each individual button?
Is it possible to set their width with Style, something like this: I tried it, but auto-complete isn't working, which leads me to think that there's something wrong with the syntax. Basically my goal is to not have the width property set specifically for all 4.
I have a more than one container in a view. I am trying to set default button at the moment page is loaded so that when I press enter, function that handles keydown event called. If I simply set default button in preinit() function, it does not work.
When publishing a project from Camtasia Studio 7, the params list includes a setting for quality. But instead of the usual "high" value, it sets it to "best". I Google'd and searched these forums but had no luck finding any definitive explanation if these two settings are equivalent. Can anybody enlighten? This topic also spurred another question, does the quality default to the highest value if the parameter value is invalid?
I am placing several AS3 buttons (actual buttons not event-laden MCs)on a Flash stage and want my enlarged rollover images to always come to the front of all other dormant buttons.My script-fu is weak,but piecing together the advice from several helpful posts I have generally learned how to set the childindex on a rollover event to be high enough to go to the fore.I plugged in the appropriate language in my action frame and was psyched to see that the coding worked...but only briefly.After just a few clicks (it seems that whenever a button is hit for the second time), not only did the childindex trick stop working, but the buttons (which act to send the user to labeled frames later in the time-line) stopped working altogether.It seems that the issue is definitely related to the setting of the childindex, because when I remove those event listeners/commands,the buttons all work fine for an infinite number of clicks (but the enlarged rollover images are stacked in one static sequence, blocking each other out).Is there something inherently incorrect about this approach?Something simple that I am overlooking? Some way to reset the process on each click so it does not get gummed up (I tried re-setting childindex #s to 0 on rollout or on click, but it did not help)?
I have had it suggested that rearranging the order is destroying ability to recognize mouse events...but not sure if this is correct, what it would mean.The code that I am using for each button (for setting the depth and for redirecting on click) is below,
I am building a flash app that will asks the client to access their web camera. Users on Windows (Firefox, Safari, Chrome browsers) are able to click the allow button. However, users on Linux/Mac (Firefox, Safari, Chrome) either need to click several times until they can click allow, or they can't click at all. [URL]
I attempted to build a Flex 4 skin for a Spark button, typical practice. I adjusted the colors and other styles to my liking, including using dot selectors to specify alternate colors and such during different states. However, these are all ignored when the button is disabled. Regardless of what I do, in the disabled state, my button always has the wrong color and is alpha'd to 0.5 (even if I specifically state that alpha.disabled="1"). All the other skin states work as expected. This is my custom skin. If it were working correctly, it would appear to have no shadow or highlight, and would be a gradient grey color. Instead, it appears as a 50% alpha version of the up state (shiny green).
This is the code used to create and then disable the button: _action1Button = new Action1Button(); view.actionGroup.addElement(_action1Button); _action1Button.enabled = false;
The error was that _action1Button is not the actual button, rather, it's the container of the button. Doh! Switching it to _action1Button.actionButton.enabled = false; fixed the issue.
Is there a way to set the tab index on a button loaded (addChild method) from the library? Granted, you can easily add the tab index to the same button if it's on the stage, but I see no way to add it to the button if it's just chilling in the library..
i recieved a template and all of the buttons are linking to the main timeline, i need to add a few pages that needed to be linked within some instances, i cant seem to find a way to set the release code to link to the frame within an another instance.
I seem to be having a recurring problem attaching events to a button i have created within 2 other movieclips.I get the following error:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.So it looks like it can't find the button, in order to attach the event listener. The question is why? I am attaching a similar event to a button on the main timeline and that works fine. So it looks like a scope issue, but I am referring to it properly.
I've gotten code that would circle through this with menu without an array, but I have been looking trying to complete it for the sake of better learning about arrays.
I have 3 buttons and I want to use the up, down, arrow keys to cycle through the buttons. So far I have the code to switch the up state once they are clicked on but I am unsure how to incorporate the navigational aspect into the array and have it cycle through.
Below I have posted my file with actionscript. Here is the actionscript set up right now:
I don't have to concern myself with the Cold Fusion end of things, our CF developer(s)will handle that... I've made some Flash navigational buttons that are to be used on the front end of a very robust Cold Fusion web application. I cannot hard code the buttons using the getUrl action because the Url will be changing dynamically. I need to know how to set the variable of a button, so that Cold Fusion can pass it a value for the URL on the fly.
I'm making an application that uses a branching tree type structure, and need to get the buttons to refer to and be able to manipulate individual XML nodes. I tried putting a button reference directly in the XML and setting the reference to that node with the event data, but it didn't work, because the XML didn't recognize the event.currentTarget as an actual button, so couldn't find the node that contained the click target. I assume there is a standard way to do this, since it's so common. Just for clarity, the tree will basically look like this:
PrimaryNode1 Subnode1 Subnode1a
[code]....
I need to be able to keep track of which subnode goes where for determining other data as well as graphically positioning the node and subnode data); PrimaryNode2 etc., with add and expand buttons. I can't set static references, since all of the nodes are added through the program depending on if they're needed. I tried doing this with multidimensional arrays, but since I want each level to be theoretically (but not practically) infinite with infinite subnodes, checking through the arrays got kind of messy. I just figured there has to be a standard way to set this up, since it's so common.
I want to create a flash site where I have a long horizontal movie clip split into about five sections, each about 960px wide. The effect I want to achieve is when the user clicks on the button it will scroll horizontally to the specific section of the flash project. For example, if your on the home page and you click on the contact the movieclip will tween to the right until it reached the contact section of the long movieclip. And I also want it where if the user clicks on the home it'll scroll back to the home page. I can't seem to accomplish. I tried positioning with the x property and move right so many pixels. I'm thinking about setting like some coordinates or some kinds of reference points so when the button is clicked it will go to those specific points in the stage.
