ActionScript 3.0 :: Setting Tab Index On Button Loaded From Library?

Jan 26, 2009

Is there a way to set the tab index on a button loaded (addChild method) from the library? Granted, you can easily add the tab index to the same button if it's on the stage, but I see no way to add it to the button if it's just chilling in the library..

ActionScript 3.0 :: Setting Child Index In A Class?

Sep 26, 2009

Im trying to build a class that moves around some movieclips on the stage, but it would never be that easy would it!

Code:
package {
import flash.display.MovieClip;
public class Rotation extends MovieClip {

[Code]...

So I waddled it down to the "stage.addChildAt(mcContainer[i], i);" bit and I've tried everything that I could think of, but nothing seems to work.

With this version of the code, I would get "The supplied index is out of bounds." error, I can change it to addChildAt etc, but that just gives me a different error.

I had this working when it was in a flash file, its converting it into a usable class thats bugging me. All the MovieClips in the array are being exported for Actionscript.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Setting Child Index From Within Array?

Sep 14, 2010

Here's what I'm trying to accomplish: I have as3 script that successfully displays an array of MovieClips, the MCs have variable xy positions, and in some cases they overlap each other. I have a function within the array that I can't quite figure out. Here's what I'd like the function to do: When the cursor rolls over a particular MC displayed by the array,I'd like that MC to be brought to the front of the others. This is my script:

var myArray:Array = new Array(); for(var i:int=0; i<8; i++) { myArray[i]= new myImage();addChild(myArray[i]);myArray[i].x = 180*i;myArray[i].y = 330;myArray[i].addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER , overlap);
function overlap (event:MouseEvent):void

ActionScript 3.0 :: Setting Index Of MovieClip - Loading Images?

Mar 31, 2011

I am working on a simple action-script3 slideshow. The thing that I have modified is the movie loads the list in two separate sections. The problem is I want the movie clip to load one image on the right then one image on the left. When the one on the left loads, it loads over top of the right image. I want send the image on the right to be on top again when the left image loads.

Here is my code specific to the images loading:
ActionScript Code:
function nextImage():void{
if(my_times > 0){
var my_image1:Loader = Loader(my_loaders_array[my_playback_counter]);
my_image_slides.addChild(my_image1);
my_image1.x = 26.1
[Code] .....
The idea is, when my_image1 is loaded, I want to have the depth of my_image to be on top.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Setting Path To Library Folder?

Jun 21, 2010

What I have is some actionscript that displays an image from an external folder. All I have to do is specify the location of the folder, e.g,
Code:
var path = "icons/"

However, this is going to be used as a widget that people can embed on their site, I can specify the full URL to the icons folder and the app works, but to save bandwidth I've imported the images into the flash library under the folder "icons". All I need to do is set the path variable to the icons folder in library and it should work by the loading the images from the library rather than loading the images from my site.

IDE :: CS5 - Setting URLs For Import / Export For Runtime Shared Library

Aug 27, 2010

Summary: I don't quite understand how the import/export URLs for symbols in a runtime library work. I can't figure out how I can set them so that the runtime library will be properly loaded and accessible for other swfs to import from, if I want it to work both in a local environment (on my harddrive), and from a remote environment (on a web page).

Relative URLs seem to work great for the hard-drive case, but fail for the web page. Is there a magic way to set the relative URL to work from the web too? And/or, is there some way of manually loading up the RSL at runtime and making the importing swfs import from that loaded copy, rather than having Flash doing it behind the scenes based on the import URL set in the symbol? Following is a longish description of what I'm trying to do, and why... I'm trying to figure out if we can use RSLs to contain common UI controls for our next project. I'm running into an organizational issue that I can't quite figure out - how to get the RSLs to work in both a local development/debugging environment, and on a production web environment, with the same exporting/importing URLs.

Here's what my setup would look like. Say I have a main application main.swf, an RSL lib.swf, and a UI module dialog.swf. Main.swf loads or embeds dialog.swf. lib.swf exports some symbols that dialog.swf imports. On a local development environment, these swfs are found in folders like so:

Professional :: Setting Up Runtime Shared Library URLs With Multiple Environments

Aug 26, 2010

[URL]

Here is the problem.  If I set the export/import url for symbols in lib.swf to "assets/lib/lib.swf" (relative to the location of main.swf), the runtime library gets loaded fine in the local environment.  But in the web environment, it does not load - the player just shows the "..." graphic indicating it is trying to load.

Alternatively, I can use "http:/myapp.com/assets/lib/lib.swf" as the export/import url.  Now, it will work in the web environment.  However, in the local environment, dialog.swf will load symbols from the lib.swf that is out on the web, not the one that is local.  But I need it to load from the local version, so that designers can muck about with the assets and see the results locally before publishing to the web.

Is there some alternative way to set up the swf's, or way to set the URLs, or some other hoop I can jump through that will make the RSL load properly in either environment without having to manually change URLs all the time?

(Details: I am using Flash Builder 4, CS 5, Action Script 3, Flash Player 10... No Flex!  My example omits some details from my actual setup, such as the fact that we are using a preloader to load the main application, and a php script on the web page to start the preloader.)

Flash - Embedding/importing SWC At Compile-time Without Setting A Library Path?

Mar 12, 2011

how to import a SWC file directly in ActionScript, without setting a library path to the file.To exemplify, I need something like this:

package
{
[Embed(source = 'Library.swc')] // This line won't work, of course...
import ClassInsideSWC;

[code]....

Besides, I don't want to (I can't, in fact) import the SWC by loading it with Loader class.

Edited Just to add more info about the problem, I'll showcase my scenario with more details...I have a class SubClass that wil be independent from the rest.It will extend a class SuperClass that is inside the SWC/SWF...This SWC/SWF have the whole framework.I can't compile every class inside a single SWF.Every part of my framework is a SWF apart and will be downloaded by Loader class on runtime.

ActionScript 3 :: Getting Index (Click Event) Of Loaded MovieClip Image

Jan 11, 2011

I am loading a set of thumbnail images from an array [hard coded] into a movieclip symbol on the stage. I have two arrays with the thumbnail and the full size image having the same index number. In many examples, "event.currentTarget.contentLoaderInfo.url" returns the full path to the image selected. i just want the index number. Adobe does not make is easy to figure out what other properties are available to me from the contentLoaderInfo. Is 'SelectedIndex' or something like that available? Where does an inspiring AS programmer find the contentLoaderInfo properties and or methods available? Is url the only thing that us usable here?

var thumbnails:Array = ["tn_2010OpenHouse_00.jpg","tn_2010OpenHouse_01.jpg"];
var images:Array = ["2010OpenHouse_00.jpg","2010OpenHouse_01.jpg"];
var thumbX:Number = 10;
var thumbY:Number = 623;
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
loader.load(new URLRequest("images/" + images[0]));
addChild(loader);
loadThumbs();
[Code] .....

Output:
Index= -1
Index= -1

Flash :: Get The Specific Array Index Based On Value Inside The Index's Object?

Jun 22, 2011

So, for sending to individual streams we have to reference the connected netStream we want to send to in some way like this:

sendStream.peerStreams[0].send("MyFunction",param1,param2);

and I have to determine which peer I'm sending to by their ID such as "peerID1234"

I know that you can check the peerID of the stream by doing:

sendStream.peerStreams[0]["farID"]

how can I make my send stream function know to use the array index where the peerID is?

so basically it could be like:

sendStream.peerStreams[where peerStreams[]["farID"] == peerID].send("MyFunction",param1,param2);

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loaded Library: Not Accessible By All

Mar 1, 2011

I have a swf containing several movie clips that are utilized without issue from one perspective. There happened to be one other angle (MenuBar) that these movie clips were to be used from but am not able to access them. The process that fails is:

1) Controller.swf loaded into currentDomain.

2) MenuBar.swf loaded into the currentDomain as child to controller.swf.

3) Clicking on an item on the MenuBar.swf runs a static process that attempts to access classes that are in the currentDomain and yet receive the error: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable 'variablename' is not defined.
at global/flash.utils::getDefinitionByName()

These items that are being accessed are avatar parts and are currently displayed on the screen as a child to the controller.swf. I also have a click event on the avatar itself which does execute and display the desired objects on the screen. If all swf's are loaded into the same application domain and are loaded as a child to the same display object then why would these assets not be available?
