ActionScript 2.0 :: Remembering Variables After The Application Is Closed?

Sep 7, 2009

I have attached the .fla that I am working on. I understand that it is very basic and does not use class files and so on.... but I am just applying the finishing touches so that it actually works.Inside the quiz movieclip is some code that makes people's names and scores be entered onto the leaderboard. This works perfectly fine, however when I close the SWF and take the quiz again, the people that were previously on the leaderboard have disapeared!Is there anyway to make the best people stay on the leaderboard for future uses?but the code that is in question is:From frame 65 of quiz:

Code:
Mouse.show();
finishTime = minutes+":"+seconds+":"+hundredths;

ActionScript 3.0 :: Remembering The Path With Arrays?

May 2, 2010

I don't wanna force you to reading a long, boring text, so I'll simply show you my algorithm.

1.Place an object on the stage at a random position.

2. Move it randomly around the stage.

3. When the button is clicked, make the object stop moving.

4. Make the object repeat the path it had gone so far right to the starting point.

5. Do it by using two arrays. One to keep all the x positions of the object, and the second one to keep all the y positions.

6. Then, loop through these arrays and set the object's x and y to what the arrays hold.However, my object isn't moving when I click the button.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Remembering The Last Step And Going Back?

Jun 4, 2003

Basically say I have 4 areas in my website. There are 4 buttons that correspond to the four areas.

On the main screen are outlines of boxes. Each section will have a different sized rectangle so I want the boxes to transform to the new sized box.

So say you click on number 2 and you are on section 1. The main box will change size to the shape in number 2 from number 1. Then say you click on button 4. The box will then change to the shape of the box for section 4 from the size of the previous box.

How do you get it to remember where you are in order to transform to the area where you click the button?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Tween - Remembering Last Position?

Nov 26, 2009

I've got a movieclip which I am tweening around the stage to various positions, depending on what buttons the user presses.My problem is, that currently each time the user presses a button, the movie clip shoots back to it's original position (placed on the time line), then tweens to the new position dictated by the button.

This is not what I want..I actually want the movie clip to tween from position to postition (not shoot back to it's original position each time).. I guess I need it to remember where the movie clip currently is, and then move to the new position..

here is my code for the tween..

Code:
import mx.transitions.Tween;
import mx.transitions.easing.*;
ButtonOne.onRelease = function() {

Actionscript 3 :: Sending POST Variables Via An AIR Application

Jan 23, 2011

I'm trying to send data via POST, since it's far too long to send via GET.

Here's the code I'm using...

pdfUrl.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
var vars:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
vars.html = data;
pdfUrl.data = vars;
navigateToURL(pdfUrl);

The problem is that it always sends as GET, and the data in vars.html is too long for my server to receive.

To make matters worse, it seems like AIR can only send GET via navigateToURL.

The issue with this is, I need to open a new browser window and send the POST data so that a script on my server can create a PDF file for the user.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create An Application That Receives Variables Passed Through FlashVars?

Dec 30, 2010

I'm trying to create an application that receives variables passed through FlashVars and makes use of the new TLFTextField. I have run into an issue with accessing the FlashVars after declaring a TLFTextField variable.

The code I have is as follows:

ActionScript Code:
import fl.text.TLFTextField;
var tf:TextField = new TextField();

[code]....

The HTML file is passing a FlashVars value of "title=ThisIsTheTitle" If I run the code, the tf TextField is empty. If I comment out the last line that creates the TLFTextField, the FlashVars come through fine and the tf TextField displays the "title" variable that was passed through FlashVars.If I change the last line to read:

ActionScript Code:
var titleTLF:TextField = new TextField();

It works fine (the "title" variable from FlashVars is show in the tf TextField). I don't understand why delcaring a TLFTextField prevents the FlashVars from being accessed.

Implement Closed Captioning Into FLVs?

Feb 29, 2008

implement closed captioning into my FLVs. I have successfully set up the FLVplayback component, and the FLVplaybackCaptioning component to work. That's not the issue. The issue is, once I have my swf, flv, and xml files (needed to successfully use CC in a FLV), I need to insert that .swf into my captivate project.

It appears to insert/import OK, but once I publish the project, the swf does not appear, and in fact the FLV icon sits on the slide rapidly blinking. Neither the video plays, nor can I even see the playback component/closed caption component (swf) that holds the FLV.

All paths are relative, so the only things I can think of that may be causing the issue are:

a)Captivate doesn't support CS3 FLVPlayback or
FLVPlaybackCaptioning components

b)Since Captivate allows importing of FLV files directly, running the FLV through the component's swf is a problem

c)The hierarchy of files needed for the Closed Captioning FLV (xml, flv, swf), interfere with compiling the new Captivate .swf
upon publishing I've also been told that the FLV captioning component only works in Actionscript 3.0 which runs on Adobe Virtual Machine 2.Captivate publishes .swf files using Actionscript 2.0 which runs on Adobe Virtual Machine 1. Therefore, what I need to do will not work.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Do Stuff After The Swf Is Closed?

Feb 4, 2012

I'm writing a Flash game for a class that is supposed to test elementary kids' math skills. After each activity is completed, Flash sends the results to our database (e.g., that 8/10 math problems were answered correctly). If the user is in the middle of an activity and hits our Logout button, we'll send what results they had to the database anyway. But if the user closes out of the browser in the middle of an activity, is there a way to quickly send stuff to the database before the swf dies?

Flex :: Detect Whether A Window Is Hidden (cmd-h) Vs Closed (cmd-w) - Mac

Feb 4, 2010

I'm developing an AIR application which uses multiple windows. I'm running into an issue where I want to open new windows (toaster notifications for example) when the primary application window is not visible, but the behavior is different depending on how the window is closed.

When a user hides all application windows with CMD-H, opening a new window causes all application windows to come back to the foreground (instead of just that new window, like I would expect). If the user closed a window with CMD-W, however, that window does not become visible when I open a new window.

Is there a way to either 1) tell when the user uses cmd-h to hide all windows OR 2) tell whether a window is hidden using cmd-h vs. closed cmd-w?
