I'm trying to get rotating and growing badges inside of one another. I've got a movieclip ("badgeanimation") that rotates and grows. I want to have several of them spinning and growing inside of one another, and have it go on forever. My script below places one clip but then just replaces it. How can I get some of them going at the same time, inside of one another?

So I a few badges (MovieClips)!
The main idea is to generate a collection of badges with random numbers associated to them.
This is what I did up to now:
I created two different MovieClip badges, and exported them for ActionScript as Badge and BadgeHover
Within the BadgeHover the label has been transformed into a class with instance name "score".
How do I access this label and change the displayed score?
Do I need to remove and add a new label every time?
What is the best way to add "hover effects"?
What I have is kind of inefficient, I am destroying and recreating the BadgeHover whenever the mouse hovers the Badge class.
A client needs a standard consumer color printer for printing name badges from my flash app. Last time we used the app, I couldn't do any pre-testing of their computer and printer beforehand. So, of course, the margins were completely wrong when the time came to print. Ideally, I'll have the flash app's bugs worked out for the next run, but for safety's sake does anyone know of a printer that has good controls for custom margins and offsets, in case some minor adjustments are needed?

I have the circles and dots in place. But a funny thing is the mouse events work for few dots and does not for few. I am totally stuck now. Please help. Pasting my code. On running, dots on the left side of the circles show the hand pointer whereas the ones on the right donot work!

I'm trying to get a series of concentric rings to appear on the stage, grow, and then fade. So far I have everything working just fine except the setInterval integration. If I run my function (placeRing) it drops a circle on the stage, which then swells until it fades away at the appropriate point. When I rely on setInterval to run the function for me, however, things no longer work. A trace statement in my function is displayed as expected once a second, but the movie clip isn't placed on the stage. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

View 4 RepliesI am designing an animated flash webpage, and would like some advice on the best way to animate the growing stalk of some 'flowers'. I have watched an online tutorial on drawing curved lines, and in this tutorial the line was drawn using a mask manually, i.e. the mask was transformed manually for each frame, which is OK for a few frames, but I would rather do this automatically if possible, as there will be 8 lines and quite a lot of frames. The trouble with say creating a motion tween for the mask layer is that this doesn't give enough control with curvy lines.
So I was wondering if there is another way, either in Flash CS4 or After Effects CS4. For instance, is there such a thing as a fill/stroke tween, which would fill a predefined line with a particular colour at a variable rate? Here is a rough draft of the kind of page I am wanting to design: So each of the stems would grow from the edges of the screen, then divide and continue to grow. The 'flowers' will grow and follow the end of the lines/stems as they grow larger.
Recently i wanted to make a custom coordinate system which user gives his number and after calculating, a number between 0 to 27 will come out, the app shows us with growing line where exactlly that point located. I mean that I have a vertical line the highest point is 0 and the lowerst is 27 and i want to put a growing line which grows to the number we want. forexample if that number is 6, we will have a line growed from 0 to 6 and shows us where 6 located.

I have worked out how to get the rolling ball effect, but don't know how to do the grass springing up. I found some grass and flower symbols in Illustrator which will suit the purpose. I thought of loading them into the deco tool as one possible way, but there might other ways.
View 6 Repliesstarting a new AS 3 website and (dont hit me) i must admit this is the first AS 3 site i am doing - it's going rather well but i do have a question. I woudl like to create a class that will draw a simple box outline based on dimensions i pass it. But i want the actual drawing of the box to be tweened. So the lines would start out as 1px lines and then tween to be say 100 px wide by 100px high. I have played around with several tweens on both boxes and lines and nothing has worked to my satisfaction. Problem is the lines get fatter as the width scales out. I am thinking that perhaps the only way to do this is to actually draw lines with line to in some loop on onEnterFrame but have not succeeded. So if anyone has an example of this please do share it.

If take a point on the circumference of the inner circle, I can draw a line from the center to that point. Let's call that point x1,y1). I now want to continue that radius out to the outer concentric circle and calculate the position of that outer point (x2,y2).

View 5 RepliesMy Problem: I simply want to load a swf in a swf and then unload it. When I do this it works and cleans out "some" memory but after I unload the swf the memory usage grows a little each time. Shouldn't I be able to have this so the memory hits a limit and doesn't keep growing forever?
What I tried: I put in System.gc() for debugging to force garbage clean up, and I am testing it in the debugger in the browser.There are 2 static images in the swf that is loaded and unloaded. I feel like those images are staying in memory maybe? I am assuming that the "unloadAndStop()" should handle that though.I put an enterframe listener which I remove along with the unload button.

I'm working with SWFObject 2.2 using the expressInstall.swf that comes with the package.I understand that the swf is loading in another swf from an adobe server which is the actual express install.My problem is that when it loads, it loads at a larger dimension than I can handle and causes my flash to wrap onto another line and makes the site terribly ugly.how to prevent the dimensions from growing once the express install is loaded?(btw, no matter what dimension I change the expressInstall.swf to, it always becomes something bigger than I can have on the screen)

When Clicked, I want the diagram and icons to animate round to the top point (360 or 0 degrees). I have a rotating dial coded in AS3 but I cannot get it to follow with the mouse - It works the way I want it to if I grab opposite to the pointer (so 90 to 180 degrees from the pointer) to rotate the dial. The problem is that I am using the rotation degrees to set a value only in positive numbers ranging from 0 to 240 instead of 0 to 360. If I change the standard rotation code so it tracks with the mouse, it reveals angles -180 to +180 which would screw up the number conversion to positive 0 to 240. I am thinking if I have to change "var r", then "var tr" needs changing to get it back.
View 4 Replieshow i could make the transition from my last photo to the first photo a more correct transition. maybe my explanation was difficult to understand?? take a look at these two sites(owendawsonphotography.com / owendawsonpga.com) and look at the rotating slide show. when the last image fades out it goes to complete white and the first image comes in at full opacity. I want it to look like the other transitions in the slideshow.
