View 1 RepliesBasically, I want to have 5 bullet points on this flash document, and as you move your mouse, it measures the distance from the mouse to the text (each bullet point measured separately) and it effects the scale of the text. I don't want it to be drastic, but just something people would notice when they move their mouse around on the page to give the user a little bit more interactivity with this particular page.

I have created a globe that rotates with no problem, but what I am trying to do is to control the direction of the rotation based on the mouse position. For example, if the mouse is to the right of the globe, it rotates towards the right and if the mouse in on the left, the globe rotates left. When the mouse is over the globe, it should stop.

Question 1Whats a good example of removing objects from stage that aren't within the stages boundries. I first tryed using a transparent box and hittesting. then i realized that you cannot hittest an object that isn't on stage, to check if needs added. so i came up with this.

As most of you probably don't know, I have started making a bow-man type of game..... There's just one problem: The code Here is what I have so far:

The major problem is having the arrow's angle be final when I click the mouse, and to shoot out correctly at that angle, and not be still rotating based off the bow's rotation.

but I decided that I wanted to continue the development of the game in AS3 (so that it will be more up to date and I could learn the new syntax), and I found the equivalent to swapDepths is setChildIndex. so I followed the new rules and came up with this code:Code: setChildIndex(character_mc, character_mc.y);but, sadly it does not work the same. the game becomes extremely laggy and almost unresponsive, but becomes normal again if I remove the code. So, my question is how can I add a similar code for this to work properly.
Here is my setup, I have an MC with a line, this line is tweened to move to the right, using a custom easing tool, it has a very elastic animation to it. It then, with similar elastic effect, moves back to the left. I also have an MC with a box placed directly right of the line. What I want to do is get the box to contract then expand based upon the x location of the line mc. My reason for this is that the elasticity of the animation for the line would make it very difficult for me to do this manually get the effect I desire, so I'm assuming theres some simple property I can use that calls the location of x then sets the proportions of the box based upon that.

One is rotating and the other is positioned 90 degrees from the rotating object. As the object rotates, the other object adjusts its x and y positioning from the rotating object..
If this doesnt make sense, then let me explain what I am trying to do. I have a spaceship in my flash game. this ship has 2 torrets siting on the left and right wing. as the ship turns, the torrets need to remain on the wings.
Quick Question, I just started learning the psuedo 3D methods in FP10, and as a sample I am creating a virtual rolodex. It is dynamically generated with a user inputted number of cards. The cards are then added to the stage and are rotated around a central axis using the function below.

After this is created I have an Enter Frame listener that rotates the cards around that axis based on mouse position. Problem is that they get depth sorted based on the order that they are created, cardArray[0] in back all the way up to whatever the number of cards is. I have tried a few of the simple Z sorting classes and noticed that my cards dont actually change there Z property, only their rotationX. I was just wondering if anyone might know of an easy way to depth sort these. Otherwise the best idea I can come up with is to check the rotation based on 360 degrees and assign a depth. That seems like a lot of ugly math though if you want to see what the swf looks like check here.
As in the figure i have three lines out of which line1 and line2 are fixed. line3 is derived from line1 based on some angle say 70.I try to rotate the line3 but it deviate from the point x1 and x2. I try the code like this

Making a ship game because I am incredibly original.. With that aside, I have a problem. I have a function to fire bullets from my ship based on its rotation which works.. it uses this code on creation: ember ho jis ny mmujhe block kia hai

The above code is in my Ship class so I can easily make the bullets achieve the correct rotation. And to continually update its position, in the bullet's class:
x += Math.cos(rotation / 180 * Math.PI) * speed;
y += Math.sin(rotation / 180 * Math.PI) * speed;
So that all works well. But I have another class, EnemyBullet, which randomly generates and uses similar code to set its direction and movement. In my ship class:

I gather that the rotation is therefore always horizontal, but can't for the life of me see why? Can anyone give me an answer? Assuming it's simple enough because the code I used to setup the rotation is the same working code I have used to turn a movieclip towards the mouse..
i was wondering if theres a way to link the amount and direction of an objects rotation to the mouse position. I want it so if you move the mouse far to the left the object spins fast anticlockwise but if you move it to the center it stops.

My goal is to make it so that when the user clicks and drags the disc (whether it be click anywhere on the stage or clicking on the disc itself), the disk will turn according to where the mouse goes.
I've used this tutorial [URL] to make a simple arrow move when the mouse does to test the code and see if it works, and it does. But now i'm trying to figure out how to make it so it will only move when I drag the mouse. I've tried things like "onClipEvent (mouseDown)" and such but they don't drag the clip.

I am trying to find a menu to implement in the form of a coverflow. I have one accessible but flipping through the covers requires that I click covers, or use the scroll bar.
I am looking for one that will move left and right without requiring clicking. Dragging is probably acceptable. I have been sifting through the google search results, but it seems most coverflows are modeled the same. It doesn't need to be free, but if I could customize it via XML that'd be great.
i have a darkBlueRect rectangle sprite and a copy of the same sprite with a larger scale and a lighter color - lightBlueRect.i'm attempting to shift the location of the lightBlueRect according to the mouse.x location when the mouse is moving over the darkBlueRect. this way if the mouse is on the right of the darkBlueRect than the location of the scaled up lightBlueRect will be on the opposite side and shifted towards the left proportionate to the mouse position and scale. in addition, the lightBlueRect must appear "locked" to the darkBlueRect so lightBlueRect.x must never be more than darkBlueRect.x and lightBlueRect.x + lightBlueRect.width must never be less than darkBlueRect.x + darkBlueRect.width.

View 2 RepliesI have the gun all coded and setup, it's an automatic weapon that fires at the mouse as long as you hold down the trigger, seems simple enough. It updates the target point whenever the user clicks or moves the mouse.My problem though, is that it can't so easily update the target when the user moves their avatar via keyboard keys. As they do this, the target remains at a constant point in worldspace, getting farther and farther from the mouse pointer until they click again or move the mouse. While not a huge issue, this is annoying.A dirty solution I can think of would be updating the target point according to camera movement so that it should follow the mouse even when the mouse isn't moving. This solution seems like a lot of unnecessary work though and I'd like to explore the apparently simpler route first.

View 3 RepliesI'm not really replacing the mouse cursor exactly. Just placing a custom image of a pointer below it so it will follow the mouse cursor as it moves around the screen. I want this pointer image to move with the mouse and to rotate and point in the direction the mouse is traveling. Simple stuff. The problem is that the rotation of the pointer graphic is not smooth at all. It is jumpy and somewhat erratic particularly at slower mouse speeds. When the mouse is moving quickly the problem seems to go away.
