ActionScript 2.0 :: Stop Animation, But Still Have Buttons Work?
Mar 8, 2008
I'm making a main page for my website in Flash 8, and I need to know how to stop the animation on my web page from looping, but not have the stop command affect the ability to use the buttons.
The web page: [URL]
The stop command hits after the flower-links finish blooming, but the same stop command also nullifies the ability to click on the flowers. While some of the stuff is running from movie clips, the animation on the flowers and title are in the main movie, and it would be too complicated and out of the question to make them all into movie clips..
I'm currently making a little header in flash. I created an animation ( things appearing and such ), and I like the way it is. But I'd like to know if it's possible to create two buttons : "stop animation" and "start animation", allowing people not to see the opening animation even if they reload the page and to skip to the last frame. The thing is it's the header of my forum : so it can be a bit annoying if it loads everytime you click on another page.
I read somewhere it's possible by using the "cookies", and a ... "shared object" ?
Im creating a viewing menu using the kind if fish eye method used from this site: [URL] (sorry for posting the link like that but sending the site is a lot easier than attatching all the files and I wasn't allowed to send a link till I had 50 posts, while I'm only on 5 now haha) I need to be able to stop the animation in mid flow so the selected image stays large while I move the mouse around, without a different image inlarging instead, and then have it moving again when I want. I am a complete noob to AS3 so I dont know if there is a simple way of doing this or if it's complicated.
I'm new and am having a bit of trouble loading one swf into another for a preloader and main program. If u open up flashSite.fla or the swf, everything works, but when I load it into a mc container of preloaderMomSite, the animated buttons no longer work. If someone could take a look, I would love to find out what I'm doing wrong. All files are located on in the same directory.
I really need to make this work [URL]. My problem is that when I add an animation to the mask, the buttons that I have inside a movieclip, they stop working as a button.
Buttons after stop code (vidPlayer.stop();) wont work.
I figured out the stop code needed to stop my videos from playing when you click another button, but with my stop code being on top of my "gotandStop ("label")" my buttons doesn't perform that function. I take the vidPlayer.stop(); off the buttons the buttons work fine, but then my videos wont stop playing when I click another button. Help, how I can get my buttons back working and still stop my videos from continuely playing when another button is clicked.
[Code]...
With the code exactly the way it is; when I like on the services button it wont work (unles I start from the about btn, which houses the vidPlayer) I want to beable to go into my website and click any button and it work, not go to the about button first an then to any other button.
My site has a thumbnail gallery that loads larger images that then jump to sections containing flash video. Everything works great when I test my movie and all buttons work. But after clicking on one certain button (my "about" button in the header), all of a sudden the large image buttons stop working and won't jump to the sections. Although they do still display correctly when over, down,ect.
Have small thumbnails that will enlarge when the mouse is over them and shrink when it's not. For some reason sometimes only the X or Y will scale or the buttons won't work correctly. The animation will pop and I don't know how to fix it. The only reason I drop the opacity on all the others is because sometimes other images will get in the way.
I use eventListeners to jump between frames.One of my frames displays a video. I imported the video as a component using the 'import video' function.It plays fine.When navigating away from the video I use the myVideo.stop(); command in AS3 to stop the video from continuing to play.or some reason, when I do this the buttons on my main page stop working.The code I use on the movie frame is:
cr_back_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onCRBackClick); function onCRBackClick(e:MouseEvent):void {
when the user clicks on a thumbnail the user can close the lightbox by clicking on a button like this
Code: this.removeChild(lightBoxCont);
This all works (or seems to). If the user then clicks on another thumbnail the light box appears again, but the buttons don't work. These were added in the class lightbox.
Interestingly if I trace teh number of children that lbx has I find that each time the user presses on a thumbnail it goes up. First time its about 30, next time its about 60, next time its 90 and so on.I think this is causing the problem with the buttons not working.
I was looking for a way to create play, stop, rewind and fast forward buttons for an animation I created in Flash. I found a nice description at republicofcode.com/tutorials/flash/controller_bc/, but after trying the code for stop and play I get the error: Access of possibly undefined property onRelease through a reference with static fl.controls:button.
I just started using flash and Im hoping someone with more experience can help me out. When I add the stop code to frame one to stop the timeline on my homepage, the buttons Ive set up in my navigation bar do not work. But, if I do not have the stop code in the timeline, the buttons will work correctly. Without the stop code, though, obviously the whole timeline plays through and doesn't stop on the homepage, which is not desirable. So how do I stop the timeline on the homepage and still have my buttons work?
var sjunkBomb:Array = new Array; for (var i:int = 0; i < sjunkBombMaxAntal; i++) { var bomb = new sjunkbomb;[code]....
Each movieclip sjunkBomb contains an animated movieclip. When the bombs reach the bottom I want to stop the inside animation.I guess it's better to stop them so they affect the rest of the game if there are a lot of bombs. I know how to hide them with sjunkBomb[x] .visible = false; but if I want to stop them? sjunkBomb[x].stop(); doesn't work!?
I'm making a website using flash,And on my movie it says Welcome to Blah Blah Blah,And then a button appears, To make sure my button works,The writing turns to bold and goes bigger,When the button appears it works and goes bigger, Until it reaches the point in the timeline where it has stop();It stops my movie from looping or restarting which is what i want, But it stops my buttons from working aswell, How to keep my button working but movie stops,If you want me to explain more just ask
I have a movie clip with 15 frames. Each frame has buttons on it (mc's)... I was going to put the actions on the main timeline/stage and navigate within the MC from the main timeline. Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I was thinking I could identify the path of the MC with the frame labels, but that doesn't seem to work. like: _root.RMChanger.(frame label).buttonOnFrame = function
I have to move a text box in and out over the MC backgrounds on the main stage... which is why I was thinking to do it this way? I've been switching back and forth bwtween AS2.0 and 3.0
I am having trouble with a job I am doing at the moment which has an mc with buttons within it. I want it so that when I roll over the mc it tweens from a small version to a larger version, and on this mc there are some buttons. At the moment I can get the mc to move but the buttons remain inactive and also the rollover states on the buttons don't work. I have attached a simpler version of what I am trying to do to this post.
I have three buttons and when I click the second one, the first stops working (e.g. no trace event and it won't go back to the frame "tab1") but the third still works. Then when I press the third button both the first and second no longer work. If I take out the gotoAndStop lines, the buttons work fine. The subsequent frames simply have stops on them.
b1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,b1Pressed);b2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,b2Pressed);b3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,b3Pressed); function b1Pressed(event:MouseEvent){ trace("b1 pressed");
I'm having problems with the flash buttons on the flash website i made for a client. or some reason the buttons in the top and bottom menu work on some people's computers but on some they don't. I don't know what to do, i had this code for all the buttons,
on (release) { getURL("http://legaldepartment.ca/","_self"); }
and they worked on my computer but on others the buttons didn't work at all so i added this code to each button also
I am using Flash CS4 with actionscript 2 to create an interacitve portfolio.I have 2 text buttons that work when I test them with "enable simple buttons." When I publish to IE these buttons won't work. I have created over 50 buttons using the same methods, they all work.
I am using button navigation, and the only way I can get it to work is to use th stop command so the buttons are the only way to navigate. My problem is I need to add an animation and because it's jumping through the applet it isn't animating, I have an animation on a new layer, but it won't play or loop, is there anyway I can get this simple animation to loop constantly in spite of the stop commands in the other laters, I have to have an animation for the project to be valid.
Trying to make an actionscript that will stop an animation if you are on a certain url. Using Joomla and have a flash banner. The banner plays on every page. What I want is for the flash banner to only play on the home page and not the others.
I was just playing around with some of the samples, examples snowflakes.The problem is that I want the snowflakes in Scene 1 and I dont want the snowflakes to keep on running to Scene 2.I tried putting stop(); to the action script, that didnt worked because I will not be able to go to Scene 2.
In this code I was playing around with my movieclip. It animates but I am trying to get it to stop when the mouse is on the movieclip. It stops but it jumps back to the start position where I just want it to stop with out jumping back.
I have a product that I am showing call-outs on. Little dots that when rolled over trigers an animation and displays information about the feature. This in itself is no problem, I have seven of these set up as buttons that work when rolled over. However, the people I am setting this up for would like the animations to be on auto play when the user is not interacting with the flash piece within a greater page. I thought I could just build a movie clip with all of the animations compiled and let them run on a layer and then when a users curser came into view of the flash piece it would stop the movie and allow for the user to manually rollover the features.
One slide of a slideshow I'm making I want the animation to end after it's completed without looping. I can do this by adding the stop(); command into the last frame of that slide, but if I return to that slide, it will remain in the end position instead of replaying.
I am creating a sort of "information slideshow" for a clients website where a movie clip on the main stage acts as a slideshow and when not touched by the users mouse it fades through 3 stages giving information on 3 different subjects, then when the user places their mouse over the movie on the HTML page the animation stops to allow the user to use the scroll bar on the right of the movie to scroll through the information on the subject, then when the user is finished then can move the mouse away from the movie and it will continue to play through as it did before.
i have the animation playing with the 3 seperate "states" and identical scroll-boxes for each state and im trying to think of a way to make the animation stop when the mouse is over it WITHOUT using a button, when a button is used on the top layer of the animation the scroll boxes are not useable as the button is on top of them, so i tried making a gap in the button to cater for them but then of course the mouse isnt over the button when the user goes for the scroll box and the "rollout" part of the script is activated and the movie continues to play. is there a way to make the animation stop prehaps when the mouse is over the "main automation" movie clip WITHOUT the use of a button, or what would be even better is when flash detects that the mouse is over the top of the actual .SWF itself it stops the movie.
I guess I did not finish my project yet. I have a script that will stop sound on click of the mouse, but I have a little animation running but I need to stop it with the same click of the mouse ( together with the sound) just insert stop() stop entire project and this is not good, this is a loader and it need to have ability to continue even some one shut sound of.
I created a simple animation that is 90 frames long. How can I start and stop it at specific keyframes so it takes 3 separate mouse clicks to complete. Example: a picture is on my website. When you click it, the first 30 frames play and then stop. A 2nd click makes the next 30 frames play and a 3rd click makes the last 30 frames play.
What I want to do is create a page that many other pages link to. This will be my index page. When it loads, the Flash movies play.But, when they return to this page after leaving it to go somewhere else on my site, I don't want the movies to play again.I thought of just having an HTML page that looks exactly like it and then linking the other pages to it, but, since there are a whole lotta pages that need to link to it, search engines might rank that dummy page more highly making it the landing page and then no one would ever visit the real index page with the animations. What to do? Here's a prototype of the page I'm talking about.
