View 5 Replieshope i'm explaining this the right way. i'm using the flash flvplayback component to play a video. i've stripped the audio from the flv and am playing it, along with another audio clip, on the timeline at the same time. volume has been set for both clips, but i need to allow people to adjust the volume from the volumeBar that exists inside the video player. it's built in as2.
View 1 RepliesI have embedded a flv video into my timeline, it uses the flv playback component to play and the SteelExternalAll.swf skin. I would like to control this flv using buttons that I have created that are postioned next to the video player. Ideally, these buttons would be thumbnails, similar to chapter thumbnails on DVDs and would serve a very similar function. As these thumbnail buttons are always present, I want them to change while the movie plays, I think a border around the currently playing would suffice.
The video is nearly 3 mins long, I have made cue points from Sorenson Squeeze.
My site is nearly ready, but I still want to add two buttons: one to set the volume to a normal value; another one to set the volume to 0 (like a mute button). I don't have a background music, I just want these two buttons to make effect on several other buttons with "click" sounds attached.

I'm trying to set up a slider that will adjust the volume of the video that is playing. I currently have a slider that adjusts the progress of the video that works just fine. I set my volume slider up the same way (as far as making it slide and the bounds it's contained within) but it fails to actually be draggable. I click on the slider and it disappears from view instead of allowing me to drag it. It's been a while since I've done any AS work and I'm struggling to figure out the problem here as everything appears to be correct.

I have a button calling volumeChange onRelease, but when I trace videoSound.getVolume() in volumeChange, it comes up as undefined. However, if I trace videoSound.getVolume() after I define videoSound, it comes up as 100, but any attempt to use videoSound.setVolume in initNetStream is futile.

On the skin there is a volume button for the video. How can I mute or control the volume of the video? Just like in youtube for example. You can turn it up or down. What is the code for it? Because when I click on the button to mute ir or turn it down it doesn't do anything to the volume. I had a separate video and a song but I went to Windows Movie Maker and associated the song with the video so now it is a whole: video with a song. But it still works. Its an mp3 player. The other problem is that the loaded SWF has a volume controller. When I test the external SWF by itself it works fine. When I load it on my main SWF when I start to drag the handle on my volume slider and MOUSE_UP outside the handle it still keep dragging the handle.

how one goes about changing the colour on the volume bar for playing videos like youtube does as the volume slider is moving. I don't think I need to go into depth using the graphics classes. What I'm looking for are ideas when a user changes the volume while playing a video, say in youtube, while dragging the volume control, the colour of the background bar changes. I've seen lots of help about creating volume bars for videos, but I don't see how to change the volume bar colour as the volume slider is moving.

View 2 RepliesI want to add tracking to our Flash-based media player so that we can provide analytics that show what sections of videos are being watched (at the moment, we just register a view when a video starts playing)
For example, if a viewer watches the first 30 seconds of a video and then clicks away to something else, we want the data to reflect that. Likewise, if someone watches the first 10 seconds, then scrubs the timeline to the last minute of the video and watches that, we want to register viewing on the parts watched and not the middle section.
My first thought was to collect up the viewing data in the player and send it all to the server at the end of a viewing session. Unfortunately, Flash does not seem to have an event that you can hook into when a viewer clicks away from the page the movie is on (probably a good thing - it would be open to abuse)
So, it looks like we're going to have to make regular requests to the server as the video is playing. This is obviously going to lead to a high volume of requests when there are large numbers of simultaneous viewers.
The simple approach of dumping all these 'heartbeat' events from clients to a database feels like it will quickly become unmanageable so I'm wondering whether I should be taking an approach where viewing sessions are cached in memory and flushed to database when they become inactive (based on a timeout). That way, the data could be stored as time spans rather than individual heartbeats.
I am making a video chat application. When I start the application it running fine but after some time like 30-45 it creating some problem, like I have a volume controller in it, after some time when I use that volume controller for setting volume it is not doing changes in volume. But at initial stage all the functionality worked fine.
