I have a MovieClip that contains a GIF bitmap that is a non-rectangular object (e.g. a star). All the pixels outside of the star are Transparent. Is there a way I can somehow programmatically limit Mouse events to fire only when the mouse cursor is within the star region (but not in the rest of the transparent rectangular area)?

1. top layer is an image of a cell phone with a blank screen (where I'd like the mask to be utilized)
2. the mask... which is paired with the cell phone image above.
3. the main/maskable image, which is only revealed by the cell phone's screen.
4. the very bottom image, visible all the time.
I need the base layer image (#3) to be static, and I need the top two layers to be able to follow the same mouse x/y coordinates. So far, I've only known how to have the mask and the masked image be one together, rather than be able to move the mask independently of the image I want to mask.
I have a mouse sensitive vertical scroll panel... actually i got 5 next to each other. When i hover my mouse over one, it starts scrolling, and the second i remove the mouse, it instantly stops... and it doesnt look very neat. So what i would like is an easing effect, so that if i pull my mouse away, it takes a second or so before it stops scrolling.

View 0 Repliesi just read the tutorial on mouse follow with easing.i've been trying to work on it not that its that hard but what i've been trying to do is to make an object get to the mouse with any easing at a constant rate probably i'm skipping on some concept, but i'm gettin into line equations n stuff .... which is makin the code really comlpicated and still there are some hiccups in the code [code]in this code , division with the constant "speed" is what results in the easing but i'm talkin about the object approaching the mouse at a constant rate

I was checking out the Tutorial @ [URL]...mouseclick.htm and it got me to thinking, that would be a great way to show which button you last clicked.
How hard would it be to have that Ease with Mouse Click work, and stay put on the buttons in the site, I think it'd get pretty confusing if it eased on over to every url you clicked. Also, I want to use some scrolling menu's, would it be possable to have the dot/png/graphic stick to that button until another is clicked?

I am a Trainee Web Designer. I have done a few major projects for websites and stuff using alot of Adobe Programs but i have this job where i need to make a map of a school with rollover mouse effects. So when the mouse rolls over the Admin Building on the map, a large picture of the Admin Building comes up. Then when the mouse is moved away the images closes. I need to do that with about 8 images. I have one main image which is an arial of the school, then there is different sections that i need to make 'active'
How can i go about doing this? i have looked for tutorials for ages now but they are either outdated or too advanced for me, i just need a tutorial that can show me how to achieve my goal. i cotton onto things very quickly so i dont get lost unless things get too advanced or there is a lack of explanation.

I am looking for the functionality as seen on [URL] in the Flash header. Specifically...
1.) First of all, the blurred background moves horizontally when the mouse moves over it, then gradually slows to a stop when the mouse leaves the area. What's that actionscript?
2.) Second, the face/headshots (give them a second to move into the header from the left side) that move toward the mouse when the mouse is hovering over the background and then ease back to position when the mouse leaves the background area.

How can I make the easing start fast then go slow? Right now it starts slow and speeds up. Well not really, because it speeds up and then slows down once it gets closer to the mouse position. But becuase the mouse position is greater than that of the movement, it seems like it speeds up then just stops!

In my isometric flash game I have some models with long shadows. I want to ignore the mouse events (move, click, down and up) when the user performs any action on the shadow part of the image. (see sample image) I know there is a way we can do it by creating a mask in flash. But what if I want to handle it on the .png images (bitmap)? Do I need to create a mask image for all such images? I think it will be very big deal unless there are easy ways (using tools in Photoshop).

I'm just looking to scroll an MC up and down with easing depending on the mouse position.I like the way that the new XML thumbnail gallery that Kirupa put up scolls along the bottom, how about something like that?
