I'm still elaborating on my image slideshow.
I'm attaching what I have.
What I want is for the two black boxes to serve as forward and backward buttons.
I tried myself, but couldn't seem to get it to work.
make one of my images in a slideshow (which the images are linked externally through actionscript) load a button that is only accessible when that specific image is shown.
for example-image 1- no button but image 2 has the button, image 3-no button, image 4 no button.... and so on.
heres my script for the slideshow and prev and next buttons

View 3 RepliesI have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.
1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.
I have been fighting with Flash for the past week attempting to change my code so that when you click on the movieclip photo_mc, the playhead will advance on the main timeline. I have tried everything:

(I'm making a portfolio site, and i want people to click on one of the main images to then see a detail image next to

I have been trying to use the XML image slideshow posted here and everything works but one thing. The images to load which have the same px dimensions as the mask for the container will keep scaling up for a reason I can�t find in the code. I have been trying to fix this all day without any luck and I am about to go mad here. I am using FCS3 but saving a F8 doc with AS2. Could anyone take a look to the file and tell me what the problem could be?

I have made a random image loader for a slideshow, but the preloader does not work for it (I grabed the preloader from a previous website I made) Is there a way to preload the images or the slideshow and/or have the next image pre-load while the current image is playing. It would be good if the URL that the images redirect to are also embedded in the XML file with the other image info. This would be similar to the News Ticker Tutorial where the URL for the News Text is in the XML.
View 3 RepliesI'm working on and xml loaded slideshow. I have a script that I got off of this site where the image fades out before the next one is loaded. The only problem is that the last image does not fade out, it just goes back to the first image which makes it inconsistant

this relates to the tutorial posted by kirupa on creating an image slideshow using xml with actionscript: [URL] this slideshow is great, but i'm wondering whether it is possible to start it in the middle of the sequence. so, for instance could one button load a swf file with code that would start the slideshow at, say, frame 5 out of 10? i understand how the actionscript for this works, but am running into deadends on how to get the xml more specific. oh, and i'm using flash 8 for this.

My slideshow works, but on my website it keeps getting stuck when the 1st image is fading out. But if you click the Next button, it will go to the next one, then the slideshow will cycle perfectly, even through the 1st image just fine. I'm attaching a zip file with my FLA and my XML file.

This is a continuation of this post: [URL] I wouldn't post a second time, but the deadline for this project is approaching quickly (and I fear that cbeech has moved on, determining that my problem has been resolved since i was on vacation last weekend). I seem to be having another problem. The first photo now fades in and out beautifully.. but the next image does not fade in. The first image just continues to fade in and out.

View 6 RepliesI found a tutorial online to do a Image Slideshow. [URL]. But, I can not get anything to work. I am new to this and unfortunately do not have time to do any formal training right now. Probably when this project is done. When I "test movie" I just get a white screen w/ nothing on it. I should be getting a box 500x500 w/ a box that is 400x400 for my frame. I just finished step 3, and I do not get my frame box like a should.

I have a XML banner slide show component that displays images and can also display .swf files. Each image displays for 3 seconds. It works like a charm with the images. But if I put a .swf file in the XML the .swf file will only display for 3 seconds as well. Which I understand why. The problem is if I want my .swf file to have a .flv that plays for 30 seconds it will only show for 3 seconds.
QUESTION:how to pull the length from a .swf file that contains a flv file so I can use that duration time to replace the 3 seconds variable? I just need the duration time of the .swf file. I know what else to do to replace the variables.
I have a nice as3 swf that reads and xml file, and loads images with transitionsfor a slide show on an html banner page.This works fine. There are some users that see white space (the stage) before thefirst image loads. Depending on the clients connection, etc this can take aslong as 2 or 3 sec.
I was thinking about placing a jpeg in the fla, and adding it to the stageas a symbol or graphic, so instead of white space (or a color other than white)the user sees an image on the page, and when the xml loader places the first image on the page, the user sees the image, and the slideshow, etc.
I create a web template in Dreamweaver 8; in this template I added a slide show (Image Viewer). This template is working fine in browsers and slide show also playing, but when I create the new web page from this template, and then the slide show not playing, there is an error message display.

I keep getting this message again and again. When I say no, it asks me again and again, when I say yes then I can't see whats playing. I also Restart the computer, but don't work.
I have a web page with an image slideshow. JQuery calls a Flex app with a list of jpg images to load and display. Can Flex load and display the first image and then continue loading the rest of the list or can Flex only do one thing at a time (i.e. load all the images and then start the slideshow)? There is a significant delay while all the images load and I need to sped up the slideshow.
View 1 RepliesThe images are loaded via XML and fadeIn in the order set in the XML file. At the moment a new image is required, it fades in. After the set time it gets deleted (setEndFlag) and the next image fades in.
do i need to set a timer in order to fadeOut the "previous" image and fadeIn the "next" image. and after the "previous" image has run out of time it gets deleted. How can i include the cross-fading in the in the script below?
