View 2 RepliesHow do I set the image size of an externally loaded image? The external image is 80x80, but when I load the image into my scrollBar I need it to be 1/2 that size. I tried setting the loader width and height but that make the image disappear completely. I suppose I am missing something fundamental?[code]...
View 2 RepliesI've got a component with a few classes like this:
Code:
[Embed(source='assets/images/Road Works Signs/TW-01_0A.png')]
public static var RW0Icon:Class;
[Embed(source='assets/images/Road Works Signs/TW-01_0B.png')]
public static var RW1Icon:Class;
And I am calling them and adding them to a button in another module like this:
Code:
var a:int = 0;
while (a < 6)
{

I'm just having trouble trying to change the size of the image. I want to be able to change height/width the image embedded in the RW0Icon class, but don't know how to reference it.
How do I change the size of a image or photo using actionscript 2.

I have a problem with scaleX and scaleY. When I use them for images created by photoshop their graphic decrease a lot. I use scaleX and scaleY for changing the size of image so scaleX equal with scaleY. Is there another way to change the size of image in actionscript without decreasing graphic?
View 9 RepliesI have successfully loaded an external swf file into my own one. now what i want is to change the size of the loaded file.
the loaded file is an image and its height:500 and width:500 but what i want is to resize it to 200x200
How can i do that.
here is my code to load external image
var peelawayimage = _root.createEmptyMovieClip("peelawayimage", 7);
var mcImage = new MovieClipLoader();
mcImage.loadClip(_root.video_image, peelawayimage);
I have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.
1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.
var tfNum_mc:MovieClip = tl.attachMovie("tfID","tfNum_mc_",tl.getNextHighestDepth());
If I'm to assign the above code to a dragDrop action. Is there a way to change the font size of tfNum_mc_.tf? I've tried;
tfNum_mc_.tf.size = 12;//did not work
var format1:TextFormat( = new TextFormat();
format1_fmt.size = 12;
tfNum_mc_.tf.setNewTextFormat(format1);//did not work
I am trying to change my radiobutton size and label size in pure as3...

I want to reduce the size of Swf using the size mentioned in the object tag of html. Same swf file size can be different for different request.
The problem is this if we reduce the size all control in swf reduced according to the change in swf size. But we want the buttons and one more graphics remain same size for any change in size of swf file. How can we make it ..
I am creating an image gallery and the images change but change right back to the original image. I had it working yesterday but today it doesn't work.

I'm making a website that will have some keys that bring you to various images (like a portfolio seen here: [URL] I've noticed doing this on the timeline takes up ALOT of space and makes the files very slow. how to do this while keepign file size low?
View 2 RepliesI attempting to make a slideshow like the one on this page: [URL] But i was wondering if it is possible to change the code so that if you click on the main image, another image could come up next to it? (I'm making a portfolio site, and i want people to click on one of the main images to then see a detail image next to
it).
I'm fairly new to ActionScript 3.0 so forgive me if this question is easy, but I'm having issues with my portfolio slideshow. I have a few thumbnails and when you click on one the image slides in from the right. That part is fine. What I really want is for the user to click on a different random thumbnail and have the current image slide out as the new image slides in. My code so far:

Ive just completed the Kirupa XML Slideshow today and have it all working well. But i cant figure out how to fade out the previous image as the next image fades in.

I have three images and I want change the images size based on the scene size (default size is 1024x768). After each image has completely loaded I call bindableUtils.setter to set width/height when scene size changes but I don't know how to make a pointer or something like that. I'm using a public var img, but it only works with the last complete image.
Here is my code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

I am using this tutorial to do a slideshow intro and need the ability to change the speed at which the fade occurs. Currently you can do this by changing the frame rate, but if it stays this way it will be overwritten once it is housed in the main flash movie.
I've done quite a bit of digging but it's surprisingly difficult to find informed answers to these questions. I'm making a Flash game with a friend; as far as we can tell, the code is fine, but there are some serious framerate problems that seem entirely related to the graphics.
Is there a performance difference between Movieclips as JPGs and PNGs? Most of our graphics are imported as PNGs because they have transparent sections, but I don't know whether there is a performance difference between setting image compression to JPG or PNG within Flash itselfDoes turning on "Smoothing" for an image affect performance?Obviously larger graphics have more of a performance hit, but is there any benefit to splitting a large image into pieces? Example, changing a 2000*1000 background into two 1000*1000 pieces? One thing is most of our graphics are as much as twice the size in the library as they are displayed onscreen, then scaled in the code. We had wanted to make the game still look good when zoomed in/fullscreened but that doesn't seem practical so I'm planning on resizing all of the image files to their final size in the game and removing the scaling code. Hopefully that's the major part of the problem.
I have a slideshow with keys that when clicked, direct the viewer to a certain image in a slideshow. I did this using some as3 directing flash to go to certain frames with specific labels tied to specific 'keys' or little navigation buttons.
Often I see slideshows where once the little navigation button that represents a certain slide in a show is clicked, it changes color. Not just when it is clicked, but when it is currently on the specified image. When another button is clicked, and when that image in the slideshow is no longer 'current', the color of the button (or mc if that's what it needs to be) changes back to the normal color. Currently, I have the button's over and down states as one color, and the up and hit states as another color. What do I need to do to ensure that when the button is clicked, and it's corresponding image is the 'current' image shown on screen, that the button changes to a different color to distinguish it from the rest of the nav buttons?
Here is an example of what I want to do:[URl]...
I have been trying to use the XML image slideshow posted here and everything works but one thing. The images to load which have the same px dimensions as the mask for the container will keep scaling up for a reason I cant find in the code. I have been trying to fix this all day without any luck and I am about to go mad here. I am using FCS3 but saving a F8 doc with AS2. Could anyone take a look to the file and tell me what the problem could be?
View 3 Repliesokay, I know most slideshows have more than one image, but when the slideshow only has one, it blinks on and off. The problem is I am using this in a cms tool that pulls the files dynamically so i will sometimes have more than one,but other times, only one.

I have made a random image loader for a slideshow, but the preloader does not work for it (I grabed the preloader from a previous website I made) Is there a way to preload the images or the slideshow and/or have the next image pre-load while the current image is playing. I have attached a zip file of the random image loader
View 10 RepliesI am trying to create a "slideshow" in flash CS4 and I have set it to fade out one image is it fades in another (using alpha) for about 10 - 15 images.However, I want to add a "border" to my slideshow, that stays there throughout the entire process without it fading in and out along with the pictures.
View 1 RepliesIm new to as3 and am looking for a similar result toI've had a look around the web but cant find anything (maybeim searching for the wrong thing).
View 1 RepliesIm trying to create a xml gallery for her images. The slideshow is working but they want a button on the stage that when clicked, it will go to the last image in the xml file.
View 6 RepliesI am wanting to make the Images in the XML Slideshow Tutorial a clickable link. So that a user can click on the actual image when it is displayed and be redirected to another page. It would be good if the URL that the images redirect to are also embedded in the XML file with the other image info. This would be similar to the News Ticker Tutorial where the URL for the News Text is in the XML.
View 3 RepliesI'm working on and xml loaded slideshow. I have a script that I got off of this site where the image fades out before the next one is loaded. The only problem is that the last image does not fade out, it just goes back to the first image which makes it inconsistant

delay = 4000;
function loadXML(loaded) {

this relates to the tutorial posted by kirupa on creating an image slideshow using xml with actionscript: [URL] this slideshow is great, but i'm wondering whether it is possible to start it in the middle of the sequence. so, for instance could one button load a swf file with code that would start the slideshow at, say, frame 5 out of 10? i understand how the actionscript for this works, but am running into deadends on how to get the xml more specific. oh, and i'm using flash 8 for this.
