I have one issue that i have one game in Russian language, and I want to change it in English so anyone can give me the easiest and informative solution to convert it in English.... or Can we use language interpreter in Flash?

I have a SWF with text embedded from an external .txt file. Is there a way I can have a different file used as the text source through the embedcode (swfObject) depending on the language?

View 4 RepliesI�m making a full Flash site, and it would be bilingual. I m making the text parts with external xml files. And I just want that only the text change when the site user changes the language.
I�ve found a great example here [URL], but it appears that only works great in one single SWF file.
What I want is that this function works in the whole site; at any time de site user could change the language for all the text contents.
I �ve the site with this organization:
1- there�s a main.swf with the menu about/services/etc�etc� and it �calls� about.swf, services.swf�. ;
2- the services.swf file contain a sub-menu serviceA, serviceB, serviceC� and serviceA calls serviceAdescription.xml, and so on�
And I want that the language switcher on the main.swf works for the various xml�s that are in different swf�s.
How can I do that?
Can I change the PhilFlash method to make it works to the all site? How?

View 1 RepliesI am using Flash CS5 as an AS2 and player 7 SWF output.I have a interface that needs to change to another language while the system still matches the users locale.The STRING panel has a "Stage language' combobox that allow me to change this during development.I have a 30 plus languages that are going to be using a series of Flash templates I am making for non-programming movie developers.I am setting it up to use internal language selector and hiding that in other uses and have external language selection change the language (Director, Authorware, other programs).(I will one day go to AS3 when I automate the development process for them)
View 1 RepliesI've uploaded a Chatango chat-box on a site of mine, and it worked fine, until I added <'param name="wmode" value=" transparent"/> to make the Chat-box transparent, because it fits nicer to my site. In that case, the browser would take as a default that my Keyboard is set to English, and so I cannot use some characters, while some others are switched, because I'm otherwise using a Slovenian keyboard setting. How do I make the chat-box transparent without the change in my Keyboard language?

View 1 RepliesI'm using Flash CS3 with Actionscript 3, and I need to have a scripting language that the user can use. If they could type in their own actionscript and have it evaluated, that would be perfect. Another scripting language such as Lua would be fine too. I looked into lua alchemy, but it seems poorly supported so I'd rather not use that. The Eval command from actionscript 2 isn't available in as3, and some of the things I've heard indicate that it's functionality is pretty limited, although I've never used it before.
View 1 RepliesWhat method or process do I use to set an iOS app to only one language?I recently had an iPad app written in Flash CS5.5 approved at the iTunes app store. I noticed at the iTunes store, it indicates that my app is localized in 14 different languages. I never set this up; it seems that there is a process that automatically adds several default language localizations to the ipa binary when the file is published. I tried the strings panel, used a var to set the localID, went into the SDK for flex and flash builder and deleted the locales (could not find anything similar for Flash itself), but none of this seems to prevent Flash from adding the language defaults. I have found many examples on how to localize my app for several languages, but nothing on how to set it to only one.
View 3 RepliesI have created a actionscript with Capabilities function It works good, but I want to ad a If else statement on the capabilities for language.I'm running in English so the capabilities shows " EN ", but I want the if else statement to change " EN " to = English, and if we are running in different language it would say " Other language"

this is the URL of the language reference website I have been using for Flash/AIR: [URL]Is this URL the correct one I should be using when I need to look up a class or method or property or something like that? Because it does not match up with what actually shows up in the Flash IDE when I type an import statement. Most of the packages match up but not all.
For instance, the reference URL has a fl.events package, and so do I locally, but my package seems to be missing lots of classes from it that the reference URL shows. This leads me to believe I don't have the latest SDK's or SWC's or whatever I need installed, whether they be Flash, Flex, Air, etc.Also, I have a few packages locally that don't show up in the reference URL. Things like "flash.debugger" and "flash.trace", they are not my custom classes, not sure where they came from.
Lastly, there are certain AIR classes missing, and I'm sure this is because I don't have the latest AIR SDK installed. I did find it and download it, just not sure how to download it.
1) Is the above URL the one I should be using? If not, is there a better definitive location for Flash/AIR language reference that is updated and always has the latest and greatest info?
2) I have the latest AIR sdk on my desktop, how do I install it? (I'm using Flash CS5 on Mac OSX 10.6)
3) How can I make sure that what I see in that reference URL is what shows up in my code hinting when I type import statements in the Actions Panel? Basically I just want to make sure I am all up to date so everything is showing and working the way it should be. For instance, I am missing a ton of fl classes (containers, controls, core, data, etc.) I want to get these in place so my local copies are synchronized as close as possible with the reference. Documentation doesn't help much when you don't have the tools it tells you to use...
4) Take the fl.ik package for instance. Locally, I have available all the classes in the reference URL that I should, plus a bunch more that aren't there.
How do I get to the documentation for Flash 9? Adobe onlyseems to have reference to documentation for Flash 10 from theAdobe Flash Support Center.

View 3 RepliesI'm creating an XML driven language selector which places the current language's flag (depending on the user's locale which is passed through a Flash Var parameter) at the top of the list. I've got all this working so far BUT i'm having trouble with the results. I want to be able to add onRollOver and onRelease functions to the newly created movieclips but it just ain't happening! The onRollOver function would be a bit of movement for each flag and the onRelease would call getURL using the url for that language which is contained in the XML file.

Picture having two million directories, each directory has 30 photos and a sound clip. From this I want to produce two million flash movies each movie has 30 photos and the sound clip. Each movie has panning of the photos (Ken Burns, Civil War on PBS). What does Adobe have that I can call from within my Java code or Perl perhaps. I need to do this every two weeks, at least. Using a standard user interface is not going to work, even if I hired half of the planet.. I have been on the phone with Adobe for two days and have gotten nowhere.. surly Adobe has something which allows me to automate the creation of Flash movies. right?

I have embedded fonts "Frutiger 45 Light" inside my Flash library and hence into swf. This works correctly. Now I am loading texts from an XML file where there could be Russian language of texts. Flash loads it perfectly no problem. BUT when I try to assign text to a field.text property, it does not show me correct texts. It shows only some texts and most of other texts is disappeared. Its a board game similar to Go but a lot simpler.I have two options flash or the much touted HTML5 with JS. I have to learn both though I have basic knowledge of JS.The problem with flash is I have to pay for the server component but the UI development could be easier and have a richer look and feel to it. With HTML5 + JS there is no cost involved but the UI development I feel will be clunky and not smooth. This I am not sure.
View 6 RepliesI have a multilingual project (currently 13 languages), which uses many different font variations of "Helvetica Neue", mostly bold, condensed and regular cuts from the LinoType Pro font set ( which includes western european characters) and the same for cyrillic. We will probably add chinese and japanese variations in the future. I have set up the project to use different CSS stylesheets and separately load the fonts for each version, depending on which language the user selects, so I can have different line heights, kerning and/or font sizes to make everything keep the original look, even if the fonts look nothing alike.
All of this works well, except for one problem: For some reason, all cyrillic letters seem to be displaced. They appear 2-3 pixels below the correct base line, and actually protrude across the textfield's bottom border, even when the field is set to autosize. When I use textfield.getCharBoundaries(), all values seem to be correct, even though they obviously aren't rendered correctly.To make everything look neat, I could of course manually move all problematic textfields up or down according to language and font size, but I was wondering if there was some way to prevent or at least detect this kind of displacement in order to automatically handle the adjustments - the Flash Player should have some sort of information on how things are rendered, shouldn't i
I have been trying to experiment with Flash's support for multilanguage documents. However, whatever locale I set in Regional and Language Options on Windows XP the swf file always assumes an "en" locale. I simplified the document down to:import flash.system.Capabilities;trace(flash.system.Capabilities.language);And this also always gives "en".I read somewhere (not in Adobe's documentation!) that Capabilities.language gives the language of the Flash player. Is this correct? If so, is there anyway of retrieving the locale that is set in Regional and Language Options?
