ActionScript 2.0 :: Client Needs To Update Here Jpg Image Gallery 6 Times A Year?
Jan 29, 2005
I am making a site for a tattooist and they need to update the gallery of tattoo images (jpg) about 4 or 6 times a year. I am making it in flash mx.I thought back to things i'd heard about and came to the conclusion that xml might be the best way with this - so the client can open a text file and change the image name and then upload the image as needed to the server.
I am deploying Updates via SCUP and SCCM to hundreds of Computers. Fortunately Adobe provides an SCCM Update Catalog for both Adobe Flash ActiveX and Adobe Flash Plugin. But now my Problem: After publishing the Update via SCCM, the client is not supposed to be interfered with the Update Progress (which is working) I figured the Updater works like this: First SCCM checks if a Update needs to be deployed, if this is the case, The Flash Updater begins. First the old Flash Version is beeing uninstalled. But now: if the Client has a Browser Window (IE, or Firefox) open, the Updater is not able to install the new Flash Version and quits with an Error. This leaves the Client PC without any Flash (because its being uninstalled before) How can I prevent Flash being uninstalled due to the Update progress not working while a Browser window is open?
I'm working on my website which is a portfolio site, to showcase my work I have a basic XML image gallery which does 1 of 3 things loads a large photo, goes to a frame with a video player, or goes to another frame with a gallery of web design or flash work i've done. when a thumb is clicked i trace the indexOf(event.target) of the thumbnail clicked (all thumbnails are placed into an array).
the problem is that for some reason randomly the index will not be found and return -1, but then other times it will find the correct index and work properly. i don't know what the inconstancy is thats causing this to occur
well, I have a combobox which I have bind his selectedItem property to a value object object, like this
<fx:Binding source="styles_cb.selectedItem.toString()" destination="_uniform.style"/> <fx:Declarations> <fx:XML id="config_xml" xmlns="" source="config.xml" /> <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here --> </fx:Declarations>
the value object is a custom class with some setters and getters, and I want to set a property based of the value of the selectedItem of the combo, so inside the value object I have something like this
[Bindable] public function set style(value:String):void { _style = value; trace(value); }
my problem is that each time I change the combobox selection which in fact change the style property of the value object it does it 3 times, if I trace the value of the setter it actually do the trace 3 times, why?? how can I avoid this? I'm doing something wrong? or there is a better way to do it,
I followed the guide to make a dynamically loading image gallery hereI would also like to change a dynamic text box as the image change.Can anyone sugest something? Changes to the code to do this? I thought it could be done by loading some external text files from an array, but I have no idea about this kinda thing.
I have a flash application that needs to send a http request to the server which will disconnect the existing session immediately. I have a tried a few options but none is reliable.Option #1: On "onbeforeunload" event send a http request from inside the flash applications. Fallacy: This does not work because as soon as the browser is closed the flash player unloads the app and hence the communication breaks.Option #2: On "onbeforeunload" event send a http request using XMLHTTPRequest in ajax. This works fine in IE but doesnt work in Firefox. When i debugged the http req in httpfox it threw "NS_BINDING_ABORTED" error which i think means that request was cancelled due to page unload.
We're building a web-based application that requires heavy image processing. We'd like this processing load to be on the client as much as possible and we'd like to support as much platforms (even mobiles) as much as possible. Here's the info: Image processing is rasterization from some data. Think like creating a PNG image from a PDF file. We don't have a lot of server power. So client-side processing is a bit of a must.
So, we're considering: Flash - most widespread, but from what i read has lackluster development tools. (and no iPhone/iPad support for now). Silverlight - allows us to use .NET CLR, so a big ++ (a lot of code is in .NET). But is not supported for most mobiles ( rumored android support in the future) HTML5 + Javascript - probably the most "portable" option. The problem is having to rewrite all that image processing code in Javascript.
Clarification: I don't need further ideas on what libraries are available for Silverlight and Javascript. My dilemma is choosing Silverlight means no support for most mobiles choosing Flash means we have to redevelop most of our code AND no iPhone/iPad support HTML5 + Javascript we have to redevelop most of our code and not fully supported yet in all browsers choosing two (Silverlight + Flash) will be too costly Any out-of-the-box or bright ideas / alternatives
How do I make a photo gallery that up dates by itself its contents getting it from a folder and putting then in order? The pictures when clicked should load a swf with information about the tittle.
I have 5 movieClip buttons. I want the GALLERY button to stay on the stage at all times, "which it does" but i want when the user clicks on 1 of the other 4 buttons for the remaining 3 to disappear. Example... when the user clicks on the KIDS button, the COUPLES, PORTRAITS AND BELLIES buttons disappear, or when the user clicks on COUPLES, for the KIDS, PORTRAITS AND BELLIES buttons to disappear, and so on.
I have a website [URL] there is a flash gallery, every time I have to clear magento cache and browser cache to display my new images but now I've made few changes in swf file that before the smaller bars are not left aligned now there are both. In my local system the new swf file shows exact number of images in the smaller bars but in server they are not showing in full numbers.
I don't know what to do as I've cleared every cache that I can. I've read some where that put version number in your swf file so that brower can check if its new then it will download new but in magento how to do that. As the swf file contents are in cms pages home page content and they have done as :
i am trying to add extra images to the photo gallery attached. I would have thought it is easy and it seems so. I add an extra image to the gallery. I publish it. The html file shows the extra image in the gallery but the swf doesnt. driving me crazy, cant work it out?
I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
I have a image of a person that I would like to load a certain number of times in a row to show a total of how many people took part in this particular event. In total I need 166 replications of this image, is there any actionscript I can use to do this without having to create a key frame for every separate image?
I want to make a sort of slideshow of the players in my game (In game when you change clothes/weapons the image auto updates to show your current character) How would I insert images into CS4 and when the image updates for it to update in CS4? PS. This is when the project is exported and uploaded to my website. Example image that auto updates: [URL] = [URL]. Where CharacterName is that's where I put each individual character I want to add in...
I'm creating a movie where I need to have several copies of the same external image.It seems that when viewing the movie in Firefox the external image is downloaded only once regardless of the number of copies I make, which seems correct.In IE the external image is downloaded once each time I copy it within the movie.And that just doesn't seem right.(I've upgraded both IE and FF to Flash Player 10.)For testing purposes I've written the following code
Code: var pages = new Array(); pages[0] = "images/Page_01.jpg";
i want to reuse an image multiple times within an item renderer, is it possible to embed the image and then reuse multiple times without having to go back to the server for the image? Is this the most performant solution?
Is it easy to adapt the Actionscript so that you can get multiple flips? i.e., so that you can flip the card several times and get a different image each time? Here is the code for two times flip and implement this. now i plan to move little bit forward to implement to flip the card several times.
I am trying to create an interactive 3D canvas, e.g. it loads up the person image and loads it into several - pre warped- movieclips... trouble is when I run this:
ActionScript Code: function imageLoaded2(e:Event):void { canvas_wrap_mc.canvasF_mc.addChild(imageLoader2);
[Code]....
It only executes the last one instead of them all, when I remove the last one (canvas_white_mc)... it goes to the next last one canvas_black_mc...
I'm obviously doing something wrong, and everything about addChild and loading external images for me is a bit loose weave!
I am trying to use an image and I am having the following problem:
- the image is a png, 2000x2464 pixels
- I embed the image
- Everything works OK during the first few tries
- After some debugging session, without changing anything in the image embedding, the image isn't loaded anymore, or better, it seems loaded ( in the variables I see the istance of my class and it is not null) but the bitmapdata of the image is null, width and height are 0.
- Now, I resize the image to something smaller and i start again. Everything works fine again and the cycle begins again! Here's the code: In the declarations of the class containing the image:
[Code]...
It seems to me that I am embedding the image as described in zillions of sites and it is actually working... for some times ! Then , after say 5 or 6 debugging sessions, I get an error evaluating "someNumber" because width is zero, and checking the local variable I see that bitmapData is null. Resizing to a smaller image , saving said image and restarting solves the issue temporarily.
I have a client (a photographer) that wants to include a login button for clients. This will take the client to the server where that pars all of this possible in Flash? I have used it for quite some time, but mainly for animation and basic intros, etc. I have been searching for components that handle what I need, but coming up short
here is the link of my Flash application [URL] hit the above URL and click on the PostCard section shown.. This will show you image and button to download that image. Application works fine at above URL and it downloads the file too but when any user hits the alternate url , the file is not downloaded.. [URL]
I have a client that is defined to allow networking only (no access to the local file system). I want to load an image from an FTP server and display it on the flash client (developed in AS3). From what I read, I saw that the FTP server must contain a cross domain policy file on the root folder. I currently get an error, a sandbox violation error and access denied to the ftp server. I don't know what to do.I placed the crossdomain.xml file that contains:
the aim of this script is to make a slide show, loading images form an external file (called: images) they fade in, then fade out, then load the next swf in the Next Level.My Question is that I cannot manage to set different times when the image load to stay in the screen (1, 2, 3 sec (1000, 2000, 3000 miliseconds) and then to fade.They Need to fade in, stay 1,2 or three seconds, and then fade out... but its not working, I used the SetIntervalID but nothing after loading the 1.swf this will call a 2.swf with a different time of the image to remain, lets say 5 sec, and then this swf will call the 3.swf and remain 8 sec??[code]
I coded a multiple file uploader using the FileReferenceList and PHP. It works great for me all the time on my Fios internet connection, which is by far faster then DSL, etc... So my issue kinda went unnoticed until I got on a DSL connection. Now, many of the files I was uploading seem to be timing out, but there is no indication of this. No errors, etc... just stops its progress and NEVER finishes. Tried bumping up the script execution time on the server
I'm working on a project that demands a file upload for images. The guys over at development decided to use flash for this but they are not very proficient on the platform. Go figure... What I would like to do is get the image dimensions for validation purposes BEFORE the image is received by the server. I know it is possible to check for file size.
