I want browser click the proper characters to trigger an installation,but each time i click them, the IE replys to the path of that exe file.How to correctly trigger the exe file...?

shouldn't the MOUSE_DOWN event trigger exactly like how a TOUCH_BEGIN would in the new touchevent class?
I have a simple f4V file that I am playing through the FLVPlayback component. It is working great. I even have a cue point in there, and it is firing off what it is supposed to do.
However, what I am curious about is if there is a way to detect when the file is done playing in order to fire off a function?
I suppose I could do it with a cue point, but I am going to need to do this a lot, and don't want to have to place cue points in all my videos.
I have found a lot of conflicting info on this subject, and am not sure how to do it, but it doesn't seem like it should be too hard.

I'm begining with flash (flash CS4 pro), I have created a fla file with a mxp filter which makes waves (I found the effect on "flash-filter.net"). I've done the setup for publishing (animated gif + swf)
When I publish the animated gif, I get a non-animated gif with the logo of "flash-filter.net" at the top of the image. ( I've also tried to download the swf with real player, same effect : I have a static video with the same logo )
in my timeline i have two orbs transforming into arrows. it works, i watch it, then i'm like, ok, all good time to save. i save. exit/open, and come to find that my orbs were not transforming. i looked on the timeline and they are not set to transform, so i redid the shape tween, save,exit open and the same thing. so why won't my file save the shape tweens? i'm previewing it in cs5.

How do I trigger a save dialog for a static file in Flash? The file in question can be local or remote, if that's easier. In this case the file is a static image.
how varied and convoluted the solutions are for a problem which initially seems very straightforward.
I've had success with JPEGEncoder (along with ByteArray, BitmapData etc.) but it's extremely slow and obviously not file type agnostic.

I need to embed a SWF on a website. The swf is this interactive map at [URL](where it says select your region). So I found the SWF file and I tried to embed it on a test page, and its not working correctly. [URL] I don't know anything about flash, but the code I used was this:

I am using the latest flash player and have a swf file served locally from my dev machine.In one container test app I am able to play the swf and make calls to it, but in my "Real" application the same code path results in com errors (basically it looks like the swf isn;' loading properly)Additionally this is made more challenging because no matter what nonsense I put in the call to put_Movie() the return is ALWAYS S_OK. All went well except now the website is published, weird things happen. The homepage works fine but when you click on "portfolio" some of the buttons don't appear and when you try the buttons, some images don't appear. Occasionally some of the buttons take you to the wrong place also. When I test the movie in flash, everything works fine so I can't work it out. I am a complete novice so advice will have to be spelt out in black and white.

This code works fine in most of the cases, but I found many SWFs files that it dosen't work with. These SWFs and work with the following code instead:

I really try to use that code - BUT !!! -> if I use this code the external SWF predominant, my main SWF code and all the rest of my code dosen't work (like the setInterval() timer).... I want to load the SWF like the second example and still run the setInterval() function.

I don't know much about flash yet but I can imagine FLV is just some sort of special flash application which can also include arbitrary code.
Is it possible to track how many times that movie file has been played by letting the FLV file perform a server-callback when playback begins?
I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
View 15 RepliesI am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file.When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main.Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.

Which is preferred and why: keeping the AS in the Flash file itself, or linking to the .as with the Flash file. I've seen both done. Is it just a matter of preference?

I can can password protect the xml file to prevent changes, but I also wondered if there was a way to validate the authenticity of the xml file from within Flash to prevent the entire file being replaced?

In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.

The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. The template is built under Flash and has .swf, .fla and html files and was setup on an html background. To make things look nice I decided to use an XML web template as a background to his template. The problem starts from there.The XML web template allows us to add our own SWF files, so I decided to add the swf file of my friend's template.
The swf file was set to "noscale" and when I imported it into the web template it didn't fit properly. So I took the "noscale" off from the actionscript and imported it again. Even then the scaling of the swf file was not correct.As soon as you load the file, it scales towards the left and not center.My question is how can I write a code within the fla file so that when the swf file is loaded it automatically centers itself?2nd question is how can I setup the dimensions of the file as in terms of height and width of the file without getting it cropped. I tried to set it up from 840x610 to 650x430 however the swf content got chopped off (even with noscale off).
I need to find a way to detect keystrokes when the flash file is not selected and send that information to an .swf file. The file would be stored locally (not on the internet).
