How do you make a movieclip move horizontally from the start of the stage to 3/4 of the stage. Stage size is 700 px by 600 px i want just one row in the middle of the stage. i want that movieclip to disappear right after it reach the end of the 3/4 mark.

I am making a site and have a component on the stage that is put there dynamicly through AS 2.0. When I F5 or Ctrl F5 it seems that the actionscript is read allover again?Only the script that is situated in the specific label. What if I have script in that label that creates a news reader. I f12 and the news reader is there I jump to another label with the menu. when i jump back to the home label the news reader does not appear on the stage. after a f5 or ctrl f5 it does.Do I have to attach the movieClip in each label to assure a the dynm-movieClip script is on stage for the ctrl f5 issue?

View 4 RepliesOn the stage I have a movieclip called mc_back. I also have a movieclip on the stage called mc_content. Now, inside mc_content I have a bunch of code and some of it adds, or should add, an EventListener to mc_back as well as a a function that works when mc_back is pressed.
So basically, all code is written inside mc_content and some of it needs to interact with mc_back.
how to target mc_back from inside mc_content. Using stage.mc_back or root.mc_back doesn't work and Google should be my friend, but in this particular problem, it's acting more like my enemy.

View 4 RepliesMy goal with this actionscript is to create a new movieclip for each top-level XML node and include in the movieclip two separate textfields, an image, extend the movieclips to two row if necessary, rotate each movieclip differently depending its parity and add a hover event based on the movieclips instance name. I have achieved each goal except for the hover bit. The reason I cant access the instance name outside of the for loop is because the instance name only lasts for duration of the loop. This is the third thread I've written for my current project (1st was answered perfectly, 2nd failed [but I still figured it out anyways]) but I'm not sure if there is a solution to this problem. I can't really explain my problem, so once again I've included a helpful animation to show you what I mean. Bear in mind that the pale-blue box represents the movie clip's borders, and those borders are usually changed to include the animation (instead of the borders moving with the animation, the borders get bigger).
For the animation problem, I've already got a solution: create an invisible movie clip that has the exact size and shape of the animated movie clip and make it follow the movie clip as it animates, and make the hitTest check the invisible movie clip instead of the animated one. As for the rotation problem, well, I don't know how to fix it. Is there a way to change that?
How do you align a dynamic movie clip position with another movie clip which is in the root stage? I tried to get the mc in root x,y position, but the starting point of the class that loads the dynamic MC does not seems to be accurate. (Meaning at the root stage, the x,y is 0,0 but at the dynamic class, its somewhere like 100,20 for the browser area (and it actually vary base on the browser size))

Why would you create a button within a movieclip instead of just having a movieclip? Does the 2 different types give you more scripting options?

I'd also like some stars to flash on and off, also at random. Does anyone know the best basic starting point for this project? It must be entirely generated by code (onclick event, with another event refreshing and regenrating it).

The user will be able to drag the stage from left to right to show hidden parts of the movie. The constructor takes two arguments but nothing special.I had one solution that added the movie clip, but then I couldn't modify the _x and _y values of it directly from the .fla. I'm using to code above to create several sprite on the stage, but when I click on the sprite, the index of each trace work just fine (output of J is according to the target i click); however MapBtnArray[j].x keep equals to "0"
I want the coordinate of the sprite on stage, how come what i get is "0" instead?

View 7 RepliesI've begun development on a isometric game, and have what I thought to be the hard part out of the way - the map generation from external files, screen-to-isometric conversions, etc. However I'm getting stumped on the "easy" stuff.Basically what I'm trying to do is this. Create a function that will add an object to the map (stage), then add an eventlistener so when it's clicked on, it gets added to the player's inventory. Lets take this sample code:

I'm starting to learn AS3, and a question comes to mind. Let's say I'm in the authoring environment and I draw a rectangle on the Stage, set some properties - fill color, etc. - and then convert to button symbol.
Question 1 - Is Flash creating AS code that records these actions (create an instance, set properties, etc.)?
Question 2 - If Flash is creating AS code, is there any way we can see that code?
