ActionScript 2.0 :: CreateTextField And Format Textfeild
Aug 11, 2009I can't seem to get this to work. I want my text field to be in arial. The format function is not working? Can anyone tell me where I went wrong?

Oct 9, 2009again I have this textfield being generated in a loop, so there are many textfields created.I've added a format to the textfield, but on a click I want to change the colour of a specific textfield. I tried adding a new format to the object, but it won't work.

Sep 21, 2010It used to be simple to access an object you put on the stage like a mc or dynamic text field by simply using _root.instanceName ect. Now I see references to making references to the Stage and such like:

stage = stageRef;
and I am still confused.
What I have going on is, I have placed a movieclip on the stage in Flash and gave it an instance name of Cell_mc.I have a cusom class that extends MovieClip with the following imports
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.events.EventDispatcher;

This Class is tied to a set of MovieClips in my Library.
I have a listener: this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,pickUp);
And a function:
private function pickUp(event:MouseEvent):void
{
this.startDrag();
[code]....
I get the following error whenever I try to access an object I placed on the stage from anywhere other than the document class:
1120: Access of undefined property Cell_mc.
How do I access the cell_mc that is already on the stage from this non-document class?
ActionScript 3.0 :: Populating A Single TextFeild With Array Elements?
Oct 4, 2010Specifically Im trying to make good use of some error messages by populating them to a TextField.
What I've done is to collect all the error messages in an array. I've been working on this for the better part of a day but I can't seem to get it to post as I'd like it. Im seeing the results but each result is in its own TextField. I really want them in one TextField that expands as they get added, each line being separated by a return ''.
I feel like Im close. here is what I've got:

Dec 18, 2009I want to make a textinput where a person can type in a price. I used "restrict" to only allow numbers and decimal. But the person can type in several decimals and create numbers like 11.1.1.1 or 11...11 or 1.11111
i want to restrict the entry to only one use of a decimal and only two numbers after the decimal.

Oct 26, 2007I'm working with a flash program that dynamically creates a user-specified amount of text fields in an MC using the createTextField function. However, it seems only one of the text fields will show up.
I've done some testing, and I found that when you create multiple text fields in an MC using this method, only the most recent one shows up. Is there any way to avoid this?

but i want to create the text field with no set width so that each text field is set to the width of the space that the text inside it takes up..i thought something like

I can create a text field on the main flash window, but I am unable to create a text field on a movieclip on the flash window.My MovieClip is called Background with an instance name of myBackground. Am I referencing the movie clip correctly?I have checked the Complete Reference for Macromedia Flash MX, but could not find anything in there. It seems like that book only skims the surface.

Nov 1, 2004im using CreateTextField to get data from php, no problem there, but the placement of the text has be baffled.
here's what i got:
here.CreateTextField("t_txt", 1, 1, 1, 10, 10);

what i WANT is to put the text in the top middle of the movie but no matter what i change in the number it just moves to strange places in different sizes and sometimes cut in half, heres a screenshot of current one.
also, one other thing, this number basically keeps track of people in a chatroom, how can i get flash to refresh itself every few seconds to ensure it has the latest number, just have 2 frames the same and loop them?

Jan 19, 2006If I create a textbox using createTextField, is there a way to make it an input field, instead of dynamic? Also, how can I put a border around it, like you can when you create them manually.
Is there a way of doing a division with a remainder instead of a decimal? The best I could think of was splitting the whole number and the decimal and then multiplying the decimal by whatever it was originally divided by. If that is the best way, how would I find the whole number, if I round it, it might go up instead of down, which I don't want.
