View 4 RepliesI have an intro.swf file that is basically a movie with sound that is exported for actionscript but not exported in the first frame. I just stuck it in a movie on my timeline and it works great and the preloader works because it doesn't load the sound before the preloader. I use :
musicSound = new Sound();
musicSound.attachSound("music");
musicSound.start();
to play the sound in intro.swf.
However, now this intro.swf gets loaded into an index.swf and everything works fine and the sound plays as long as I have the sound included in BOTH the intro.swf and the index.swf and the sound is exported on the first frame in the index.swf. I was hoping I could remove the sound entirely from my index.swf since it already loads into the intro but so far
I have been having trouble creating a movie clip with a reverse rollover effect within a movie which has a reverse rollover effect. that sounds confusing
In essence I wish to create a panel that rolls out on rollover and rolls back in reverse when the you rollout. I have done this using this script

However I wish to make movies within this movie that have the same effect on them. But when I create another movie or button within this movie it is not registering on rollover. I guess because the script on the main movie overrides it?
I am creating a calendar and only one part isnt work. That part is the movie (mc_nav). I have the mc_nav movie on each month's stage. The buttons are named correctly since I used normal modes reference thingy to double check the references. I am trying to have it move to the next frame in the movie, or back, or to the 3rd frame etc. The first section (NAVIGATION BUTTON LINKS) works fine. It is just when I try to navigate on the Scene 1 stage, from a movie within a movie, that the trouble arises. Each of the month movies (mc_sep, mc_oct, etc) have mc_nav placed on them. Then the month movies are placed in Scene 1 on each of their respective frames (mc_sep = 4, mc_oct = 5, etc). When testing the movie and I am sent to any month page, the navigation (mc_nav) wont work. The syntax according to the flash debugger is correct. The action script goes all the way through to the last frame (13) and the stop(); command is set to stop the movie at frame 3 (the splash page).

I am trying to navigate to a new url for each movie clip, problem is im really unsure of how to achieve this I have one target on my page and would like to be able to drop any of these movie clipt o to it?

I'm trying to make a simulation where a person can drag 2 different objects to any 4 predefined targets on the stage. Based on the position of the 2 objects there will be a different output text. I hope I described that clearly. I would also like the 2 objects to snap to the 4 targets. Im very new to AS. Im starting to be able to read it a bit but still can not wright it.

I have a small FLA file i created myself. its just a simple mp3 player, pause and stop and a volume slider, thats it.I want to import three instances of this into a bigger movie and have them all available to run at the same time.I need them to be all on the screen at one time (same frames) and I need them each to be able to play a different mp3 The user will not be able to decide which mp3, this is all 'hard coded' into the fla file.So how can I do this and get access to each individual movie's controls?
For example when I use the slider on the first player, I only want the volume to change on the first mp3.Would I even have to worry about this in the big file that has all three movies in it?I mean could I just code the volume slider to work right in the mp3 player file and then the bigger movie file will automatically know that when the volume slider is moved, only to affect the voume of the first mp3?if i do it that way, would I have to save out 3 different versions of the mp3 player file. one with '1.mp3', say, hard coded into it, another with '2.mp3' hard coded into it, etc?
When i insert the flash menu it basically dosent fit into the alloted space i gave for my horizontal navigation bar, when inserted it blows apart. the only thing i could think of was resizing the flash document but then i cant see the menu expand it gets cut off,

I have for a physics type site and I need to find a way of doing the following two things:
1. I know that I have come across drag n drop tutorials before but I can't find them.I basicly want to take a letter or any image and drop it onto a big circle and then have it stay there!
2. Secondly is there a way of having the visitor kind of like create their own image and then have them save it to the site so that it can be displayed in a gallery without using fancy stuff like php, cgi ?

View 1 RepliesI have added drag and drop to some of my custom components.The drag event is fired on mouse down.If you mouse down and move the component around then drop it repeatedly its fine.But if you mousedown and drag the component around drop it and THEN just click on the component it inits the drag but doesn't fire the drop event.Its almost like you have to move the component for it to fire the drag drop event.This is very annoying as i'm removing the component on drag init and adding it again on drop, so just clicking on it makes it disappear.

The problem is the new buttons that appear are embedded on the initial preview images (which are set as movies), and for some reason the interaction that has been added to these movies is stopped when run in another movie. Sorry if that sounds complicated!

i have been searching the internet for a bit, and maybe i don't know what to look for but i know filters have stage scaling enable, not sure that is what i am dealing with but for some reason i can not scale a movieclip that contains a movieclip with a drop shadow filter without the drop shadow acting like the light source has changed, have tried copying the bitmapdata....anyone know how to "freeze" the drop shadow.

I am having a problem with my drop traget. I have the ability to drop and duplicate multiple objects on a stage. I have a clip set up (canvas) which is used for if someone drops objects onto this it duplicates the dragged clip.
However the problem I am having is that if someone tries to drop an element on top of an already drop/duplicated element, it wont duplicate the new clip. Its like it thinks that the dragged clip is not over the canvas.

If you look at the gallery here and click on the item titled VIACOM, a window will open On the bottom left hand side of the window you will see 4 thumbnail boxes that switch between the preview images on the right. The second preview image has the numbers 1 to 4 on the bottom of it. These numbers are buttons and are set to switch to more preview images, but sadly it's not working.

I have about 50 QuickTime movies that are different dimensions. I need to export them to be FLV's and I need them to all be the same dimension. I want to put them in a queue so I don't have to do each one manually. Is there a software that I can use to do this?

Also, ideally I would like to add that second movie clip into a container, so I can position it correctly, but when I try copying the code I use on the first, it doesn't seem to work...is it to do with the "root" bit perhaps?
I have five 3d animations I did that are in FLV format that I want to put up on my portfolio website. way to do this in Flash CS4? Should I create it as if it were an image slideshow?

View 5 RepliesI have always the argument with my colleagues which authoring strategy to use. I always attached to the idea of authoring several swf files, and have them all loaded to the main swf when needed. And than attach Preloader to each swf that I load.
Others think that it should be only one swf with one preloader. And have all the navigation to use scenes or goto actions.
So the advantage of using my strategy is that users will not wait too long for one movie when its being loaded. And its more convenient to work on several fla with each have its own layers, symbols, etc

The problem is, I cannot get weblinks to open within a movieclip (anything deeper than root) from a dynamic text field fed by xml. The mouse howevers over and turns into a hand as if it's read that it's an <a> tag, but it just doesnt open a new window. And if I put that same code on the main stage at root and the clickable item there, it works. I can't find anything about it anywhere. Here is my code:

I own CS4 design premium and very familiar with Photoshop and illustrator but NOT flash Pro. I want to make a HD 1080i HDTV 2-d technical video animation and wish to know if Flash is a good tool for this. This video would be used for corporate tradeshows on an hdtv. Specifically I want to combine pictures and overlay 2-d animated arrows, text balloons etc to make a 2-d technical animation of how a product line works. I need to have keyframed pans and zooms with this also. All this needs to be converted to 1920x1080P 29fps HDTV MP4. I own and proficient at Vegas Video 9 PRO NLE which can convert a variety of avi to mp4. My questions are.. Is adobe cs4 flash PRO able to do this with my other software?

The movies are only slightly different from each other.I don't want to make a movie that is two minutes long though. I want the movies to play in a different order on each page.
I'm trying to understand how AS3 works compared to AS2 when using navigation buttons to load external .swf files.
In AS2, I would have 5 menu buttons. Each button contained a script to load an external .swf file into layer 2 (on top of my existing movie). It would also contain a line of code to unload any movie that was already in Layer 2. This way new movies came in on top and were easy to identify when it came time for them to be unloaded.
Now in AS3, I can't find a similar way to work with external movies, since there are no longer layers. I create a movieLoader and add a child to it to load my external .swf - that works fine.But how do I tell each button to remove any children that already exist before loading the new child? The way it works now, the movies just keep piling on top of each other whenever I click a button.[code]...
I am working on a site and am using a lot of different scrollpane components that use outside .swf movies as its content. What I would like to do is create a progress bar for each section that uses this scenario so my users know it is doing something.
