this file has keywords, which they update periodically:
pakistan
president
officials
military
Now, when i load this into flash i get this when it renders: pakistan0Apresident0Aofficials0Amilitary
how do i get the result in a more meaningful manner.. something like: pakistan president officials military. or can i randomly pick one of the keywords from this file and display in my flash file.
I want to load an external text file, and display loading percentage in flash,so I could show user how far loading is completed.And the problem is I can see progress in trace window,no progross message displays in the textfield,only when my text is completly loaded,the whole text shows in flash.
Im trying to get a button when pressed to display text from an external .txt file (which I've done so far), but (1) I want it to only display certain paragraphs (the actual dialogue) of this text and (2) every time I click the button it should replace the old text with the new (like in any RPG). Now I asked a former lecturer for help and he gave me a link to a website and gave me a hint of what to do, but seeing as I was recently voted #48 on Forbes worst 100 programmers of all time (actually I haven used AS for 5 years) so I thought someone could explain it to me in a much clearer fashion? PS: My lecturer said: When you click the button to add text to the textfield but you ewant the previous text to be cleared the first thing you do is empty the box ( myText.text = "") then fill the box again with your new text..
I have combed the Web and I can't seem to find the answer. All I want to do is display some html-formatted text, located within an external XML file, in a dynamic text field in Flash CS3.
I don't have any code to supply because at this point the only thing I'm trying to display in the text field is "<b>This</b> is a <a href="http://www.google.com">test</a>." For this hypothetical example, I could call the text field myTextField. I just need to know how to format the AS3 code to get the XML to display inside myTextField.
I'm going to be building a site for a photographer and would like to be able to do something like the thumbnail navigation in this example: [URL] I'm assuming it's adding the thumbnails to the Display Object via an array based on an external XML file, and displaying them once their corresponding full-size images are loaded ... Perhaps it's building the nav simply by looking to see how many photos there are in a folder on the server (i.e. no discreet XML added for each shot). Not sure if this idea is even possible -- would like to hear from any of you if in fact it is.
How do i display "<" wheteher through external text file or not.I found out that you have to encode it to %3c, but somehow it still won't display. I'm thinking maybe there's a crash with the <> tag. But something is odd, if i used simple text it works, but if i used htmlText somehow it won't work.
I am using a flipbook Flash/Actionscript 3.0 framework for a digital magazine[url]...
You can have videos embedded in the pages of the flipbook, but they can not be display fullscreen like Youtube videos, for example.
The flipbook can also import swf files to display as pages of the flipbook, so another way of embedding videos into a page of the flipbook would be to have the video player in the swf page you are embedding. This gives you more control over the style and the positioning of the video.
My question is: Is there a way with AS3.0 to togle the embedded video from normal predefined size to fullscreen and back?
This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
Why doesn't this code go through the XML file in order? It should go through the XML file and display the images/comments as they are ordered in the XML file.
Code: function loadXML(loaded) { if (loaded) {[code].....
I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
When I use swfobject (or, for that matter, publish from Flash)...if my HTML file is in the same folder as my Flash .swf (called "bin")...the flash file displays as a blank white page. I can tell the .swf is on the page, because when I right-click I see the flash context menu...however, the swf is blank. So the path isn't written incorrectly.If I move the HTML file inside the "bin" folder and change the path from "bin/myFile.swf" to "myFile.swf" everything works again...what gives?I think it might have something to do with using the Loader class...I am using loaders to loader external .jpeg files. But I don't know what to do about this other than to keep my HTML files in my "bin" folder which is a bit of a pain.
How can I replace text loaded from an external file with text from another external file? Using setInterval and calling the .load from a function or something? In the example below I'm calling an external text file, could this also work with an .xml file with cycling through the children?
I'm having a problem being able to display an external image using xml, I have it set up so that once it loads it is put into an emtpy mc on the stage. I've been looking at the xml photogallery tutorial and I can't see anything wrong?
The actionscript is this:
Code: function loadXML(loaded) { if (loaded) { bgImg = this.firstChild.childNodes[0].childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue;
I am using in AS3 "External Interface ". When I call the JS function that is on the same page as swf everything works fine.
I added a link in the html page to an external JS file, when I move the JS function to the external JS file the website crushes.
I would prefer to have all my JS functions on an external file so I can use them in the future in other project and it also makes it easier for me to update the site.
how to call a JS function that is on an external file from AS3?
Structure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. Very annoying.I made that particular SWF on my mums computer running Flash MX 2004The flash file itself uses the Scrollbar component from MX.Could someone tell me why the text doesnt load in this scenario? It runs fine on its own, just not as an external SWF.
I am using the Loader to load an external swf into my program. Inside the external swf, I need to be able to access the Loader instance that just loaded it. Does the loader add the external swf to itself before any code inside the swf gets executed? When is it safe to access the loader via the following code?
var target:DisplayObject = this; while(!(target is Loader) && DisplayObject(target).parent != null){ target = DisplayObject(target).parent; }
my document class creates custom class variables to load both a slide show and menu .swf instance to the stage.a few questions:my document class extends Sprite, so any addChild() will put that object on the display list?if so, how do I allow script inside the menu instance to refer to other display objects?The following code is within my document class, inside my doc class function:
Code: /*load menu*/ var menuLoader:preLoad = new preLoad("menu_as3.swf",800,0,1,1,0,1);
I'm loading numbers from an external txt file which appear in my dynamic text field as "5" or "25" but I'd like to have a few "0"s in front there (so "0005" and "0025" for example).
I have an external swf I am loading. It is a text scroller, and part of the way it works is that it moves the text up or down off the top or bottom of the stage when it scrolls.Unfortunately when I load it in a master swf, the guts of the thing are showing through, spilling outside of the intended boundaries of the included swf. (i.e. outside the included swf's stage height).
I want to display an external swf across multiple scenes.whether it is in the background or whether i put one code on the first scene for the movie clip to load it and a different code for the same movie clip on the other scenes.
For my AS3 website, I want to have different buttons at different points in the timeline which load and play external swf videos. These swfs would ideally be displayed on the stage at the actual height and width of the video rather than in a new window.
The swf files themselves will be generated using a third party video player, which wraps itself around an external FLV creating a nice self-contained swf video player (the generated swf contains the player and the video).
The problem is that the third-party video player i'm using ALWAYS displays the loaded swf at the full size of the stage and not the actual size of the swf video. So when the user hits the button to load and play the video, the swf video fills the stage leaving the user no way back to the website.
Also if I use _blank to open it in a new window, it fill the entire browser window.Is it possible to force the width and height at which an external swf is displayed on the stage and if so could some guru give me a code sample to use? It doesn't need to be dynamic according to the swf dimensions, as these will be the same for all videos.
Below is the code I'm using at this point to call the swf:-
var Xpos:Number = 0; var Ypos:Number = 0; var swf:MovieClip; var loader:Loader = new Loader(); var defaultSWF:URLRequest = new URLRequest("swfs/eyesClosed.swf");
[code]....
..it compiles but I don't see the swf at all, whereas if I don't set the width and height it appears. I've changed the width and the height within these variables but the swf never displays unless I remove swfwidth and swfheight from my code.
Using AS2 and Flash 8.I'm currently looking for a way to display a image file that is outside of the .swf in my Flash program,including a way to resize it.I just looked through the options of using the Loader component with the .contentPath function. Even though this method displays the image perfectly, I can't for the life of me figure out how to resize the Loader.
This basically dynamically creates the "Loader" component with all of it's settings initialized. Then, using .contentPath, it displays my "banner.jpg" which is in the same directory as my .swf file.
For clients editing ease, I've used external jpgs & external txt. When published both html & swf work fine. However when uploading to webpage, the jpgs will load, but the external text will not.
i have a Flash Application with a button and an onRelease event. How can i load an external swf File, display it for 5 seconds on top of the main stage and then fade it out? Will this be possible with createEmptyMovieClip()?
I'm making a game where I have a lot of movie clips that I need to load so I was wondering wheather ActionScript 3.0 allowed us to load external movieclips? Can we import an external display object (movieclip) into a display object container? Or do I have to load a .swf which contains the movieclip onto the stage? What happens if I need to pull in multiple .swf files can the movieclips overlap or will one .swf file block the user from viewing the .swf in a lower depth? Can I import the movieclip from the external .swf file from its library and add it to the main stage rather then adding the whole .swf to the main stage?
