Why doesn't this code go through the XML file in order? It should go through the XML file and display the images/comments as they are ordered in the XML file.

I bought a website template that has a scrolling photo gallery. As it came, the images are static in the fla file itself. I would like to edit the fla and load images dynamically. Ideally from MSSQL. I'm using VS2010, C# webforms, and SQL Server 2008 R2. Are there any code snippets or tutorials or general guidance on how to do this? I do have a CS3 disc with Flash on it I can use for editing.

In Eclipse (and Flash/Flex Builder) you get the option with Ctrl+Shift+F to do a file search and look for a regular expression. Would be a real handy thing to know.

You can have videos embedded in the pages of the flipbook, but they can not be display fullscreen like Youtube videos, for example.
The flipbook can also import swf files to display as pages of the flipbook, so another way of embedding videos into a page of the flipbook would be to have the video player in the swf page you are embedding. This gives you more control over the style and the positioning of the video.
My question is: Is there a way with AS3.0 to togle the embedded video from normal predefined size to fullscreen and back?

This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
When I use swfobject (or, for that matter, publish from Flash)...if my HTML file is in the same folder as my Flash .swf (called "bin")...the flash file displays as a blank white page. I can tell the .swf is on the page, because when I right-click I see the flash context menu...however, the swf is blank. So the path isn't written incorrectly.If I move the HTML file inside the "bin" folder and change the path from "bin/myFile.swf" to "myFile.swf" everything works again...what gives?I think it might have something to do with using the Loader class...I am using loaders to loader external .jpeg files. But I don't know what to do about this other than to keep my HTML files in my "bin" folder which is a bit of a pain.

I am sending out a standalone player that uses an xml driven image gallery. I need to prevent changes to the xml file to stop images being added to the gallery. I can can password protect the xml file to prevent changes, but I also wondered if there was a way to validate the authenticity of the xml file from within Flash to prevent the entire file being replaced?

View 4 RepliesI'm building a flash movie for something at work and im loading in some images using an XML file but when i use a preloader it only preloads the XML file (as in just the text inside) and not the images.
This causes the movie to start playing without having the images loaded.Does anyone have any ideas about how i could get it to preload the contents/images being called in the XML file so it doesn't run as soon as the XML file is loaded.
When I put dreamweaver file in a zip file for viewing on another computer, images and format are not the same when viewing in dreaweaver.
View 1 RepliesIm working on a chess game replay system in flash, and in order to display comments on individual moves I am loading them from an external text file. Since one of the navigation buttons allows the game to skip to the last move I want to also recieve the number of the last move through this text file. After using loadvars all the comments are loaded correctly as strings but the variable for lastmove is not being recieved as a number. My ultimate question is whether there is a way to convert the text number into a real number which can be manipulated. If not, is there a simple way to load this data element individually as a number.

I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
View 15 RepliesI am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file.When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main.Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.

I recently found out that the flash swf's I was trying to load were in as2 which is causing a great deal of problems. The sad reality is I need to load these up somehow, or find some alternative.What are my options for loading as2 into as3 from a remote source (different domain). I'm using Flashbuilder 4.5 as my development tool. I've been using flex for about two weeks now, so this is a little daunting.

I want to create a Flash movie which displays four numerical values. I am a teacher and the four numbers are pupil teampoints gained during the week in class. Each friday I want to open the Flash movie and the four numbers to be displayed with a bit of music in the background for dramatic effect!I want the Flash movie to retrieve the four numbers from a txt file located in the same folder as the movie. I want this as other teachers at my school will then be able to come along and change the totals without having to fiddle around in Flash, and also so that the values can be entered before the children arrive in class. Is this possible? I think there are functions in Flash that retrieve information from txt files but I am not sure!

I am building a website using AS3 for my son. He lives in another city so I am sending the html files as test so he can see how things are progressing.We have done this in the past but for some reason he only sees a white and black screen on his end.The only thing that has changed is I have embedded a new font from the text fonts. Should I have clicked the option include at runtime sharing?
