I am building a website using AS3 for my son. He lives in another city so I am sending the html files as test so he can see how things are progressing.We have done this in the past but for some reason he only sees a white and black screen on his end.The only thing that has changed is I have embedded a new font from the text fonts. Should I have clicked the option include at runtime sharing?

This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
When I use swfobject (or, for that matter, publish from Flash)...if my HTML file is in the same folder as my Flash .swf (called "bin")...the flash file displays as a blank white page. I can tell the .swf is on the page, because when I right-click I see the flash context menu...however, the swf is blank. So the path isn't written incorrectly.If I move the HTML file inside the "bin" folder and change the path from "bin/myFile.swf" to "myFile.swf" everything works again...what gives?I think it might have something to do with using the Loader class...I am using loaders to loader external .jpeg files. But I don't know what to do about this other than to keep my HTML files in my "bin" folder which is a bit of a pain.

The following script does not generates compiler errors, each function seems to be executed yet the file is not displayed. When trying the same code with myCV.txt and myCV_TA.text = (loader1.data) the text file is displayed OK. Flash MX and actionscript 2.0 had handled that differently but with success?

I am trying to get a link to work in the body text of a text block. I am using CDATA but can not get this to translate to html in the flash. I have checked that the 'Render text as html' box is checked.

This may sound like a dumb question, but how would I make a swf file display an html page similar to what an IFrame does? Would I have to use a Javascript command to have a window pop up when the movie is Loaded?
View 1 RepliesI am using a trial version of CS5, and I'm wondering if this is the cause of my issue, but wouldn't think so.I am trying to display a video in a basic HTML file created in Dreamweaver.I am using flash to generate the .swf file to be embedded.I used the media encoder to convert the video file I have from .avi to .f4v.This all seems to work just fine and when I test the html file locally it works.The issue I have is when I load the files on a web server for further testing, it plays the video, but there are no controls visible on the page for the video.As stated above, they display correctly when I run this locally.I have also loaded the skin.swl file on the server in the same location as I have it locally.I have tried everything I can think of to try and can not get the controls to display while deployed on my web server.

The reason i ask is my current project has a rotating + enlarging effect which is largely dynamic so sometimes an object may clip the edge of the stage areathis looks messy but i dont want to increase the stage area to cover the largest possible area any object could enter because most of the time the objects are at the center and small so i would end up with a lot of white space

If I just display regular text it works or if I change the textArea element to a RichEditableText element it works fine. Since this is for a mobile app I would prefer to use the textArea element as recommended by Adobe.Here is the MXML code for the textArea. All I get is the border and no content displayed.

I was reading about Flex- JavaScript communication via ExternalInterface.But I had a doubt, it said that the javascript code should be written in the HTML file of the application ? Now which is this HTML file ? Is it the index.template.html file per project or the HTML file created per MXML application ?
View 3 RepliesI am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.

In my case the problem is I have flash map, and drop down menu on top of it.

I don't want to make different htm file, neither put a button on flash(ie on click...). I just want after a few seconds and after the flash has ended, the flash will go away and the page will appear.

If a user doesn't have FL9, I don't want to prompt an upgrade request - instead, I'd like to have the FL9 swf swap out for a jpeg/gif. I have a flash slideshow with 2 divs overlaying it, one at the top and one at the bottom.[code]Both overlay properly in Firefox/Safari/Chrome, but nothing I try seems to make it work in IE. I'm using Remy Sharp's HTML 5 enabling script to make the HTML5 mark-up work in lower versions of IE.What's funny is that the second div, #intro overlays correctly, but #top-menu always appears behind the` slideshow.All 3 elements are absolutely positioned with z-indexes explicitly set. No matter how high or low I set them the flash object is always in front of the #top-menu element.I have checked the rendered <param> tags and one of them lists wmode as transparent.The flash object is dynamically inserted with php through a CMS, so I have no access to the <embed> tag that many have suggested adding the transparent attribute to.
