I'm trying to create a game for a class project, using Flash MX. Unfortunatly, I am unable to figure out how to goto a new scene when the score reaches a certain number.
The ActionScript for it is...:

I've even tried using ""'s around 'score' and other things, but still no luck. I still havn't figured out the stupid timer either...
Is there a way to get this code to work? It's meant to count the seconds passed while playing the game and gives a bonus multiplier to the current score when the game ends. I don't know how to get the returned value to combine it into the multiplier int variable. Is there any way to get this code to work or is it completely wrong?
View 11 RepliesI have a simple shooting game set up. 25 monsters appear on the screen, one after another, until no monsters are left. If you hit one before it disappears, the score increases. If you don't, the score stays the same.
In the actions frame, I placed an empty dynamic text box named score, and set it equal to 0 (declared in the main actions frame). But, seeing as though the monster actions are coded into the library item itself, do I have to declare score, and the score increase there instead?
I've got my preloader working where it loads up the external swf. The thing is what I want to happen is instead of once the loading progress reaches 100% and starts playing my swf, I want the preloader to hold off on playing the Swf and simply allow me to trigger the playback with a button. I can't seem to figure out how to stop the swf from playing once it reaches 100%. here's my code

View 10 RepliesI need to create a score board for a game show at work for staff. The score board must keep score on the left and right parts of the screen. score must start as default on 0. Then every time I press for example the left arrow key the left score must increase by the value of 1 and when I press the right arrow key the left score must decrease by 1.Same goes for the right score only with differant keys example up and down keys. This sounds very simple and I managed to get it to work when I tested with only 1 score, but failed when adding the second score to the picture.

View 3 RepliesI'm following a tutorial to make a simple game. The aim of the game is for a player to evade a flying enemy ; the higher the score, the faster the enemy. The main elements in the game are the enemy the player and a score card.
However, from following the tutorial, and adding the dynamic text field etc....the score doesn't actually work.

View 2 RepliesI am creating a blackjack game and almost have it all figured out besides the scoreboard. When I win the game it adds the 25 points and when I loose it subtracts the 25 points from the starting score = 200. The problem is that if you win multiple times in a row or lose multiple times in a row the score doesn't keep adding up. It only adds or subtracts the score once. I tried using a boolean code but can't get it to work right. Now I am using this set up.

I am trying to make a bowling alley type of game. I want the ball to change angle when it reaches the gutter, but the problem I am facing is, how can I check when the ball has reached the gutter as the bounding box for a line/box in perspective is bigger and I want to check any point on the line when the ball is passing/crossing that point and moving so that I can change its angle and direction. And also does anybody have a collision method algorithm or physics to create the falling of PINS when the ball hits the PINS.

This is correct.When the gun (mouse) is clicked, we then tell the "hittest1" MC to play, which will detect hits. All Correct.[code]The hittest1 MC plays, and checks if the "cursor" MC was touching the "bug1", and tells it to animate (splat) All bug detections are listed in the hitTest frame - "bug1" through "bug30", ie. the code below x 30. This Fails - maybe because the hitTest MC lists all 30, and not all bugs are visibile at once, some are hidden until required later in the game?[code]Then on the last frame of the "bug1" MC (frame 10), it tells the score to add one. View 1 Repliesis it possible to use graphics (the numbers 0-9 in one png-file) instead of a Textfield to show the high score of a game to the player? With a TextField it is easy to "refresh" the score but what can I do, if I want to use my png-files for the score? Is there a simple way to do this? How are other flash game designer do it?
My current solution (not tested, just in my head) is, to create 10 bitmaps (numbers from 0-9) or 1 bitmap with all the numbers in it and then convert the current score into a string, split this string and for every digit show the matching bitmap. Update: or should i try to use filters on the textfield to create a "more beautiful" score?
Where and how I'd put the rest for the score tracker? I'm going to be making 3 of these multiple choice questions, so what would be the best way I lay that out and transition from one question to another?[code]...

how can i make a high score table for a flash game where EVERYONE see's the same high scores?
eg.
Bill gets 1000 in USA

View 1 RepliesI hope the following is pretty self explanatory. There is a ball movie clip "mc1" on stage. The addEventHandler simply starts a tween and the ball rolls from left to right until it's off the stage. I'm simply trying to make the clip stop when it reaches a certain x value on stage. I'm trying to teach myself simple techniques for the if statement and loops.

i have application that streams videos from fms .i try to play video of 240 seconds, but when playback reaches 180 seconds i got NetStream. play. stop . it happens regularly at the same time.why does it happen? is it encoding of the video??
View 4 RepliesI'm working on a small game in Flash to get the basics of AS3 down. However, I ran into some problem that I can't seem to figure out. I have my Player 'avatar', which is supposed to pick up small coins that appear from the right side of the screen. These coins move to the left where my player character can pick them up. I want to remove them from the screen and increase the score by 10 when the character picks up a coin.
However, there seems to be a couple of bugs: when I pick up a coin, I get these errors:
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter child must be non-null ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller.
I push the coins to an array and then run a foreach loop on them to make them move and call hitTestObject() on them:
