View 1 Replieshow to create a mute button successfully but only with the global sound setting (so all sounds mute or play). What i need to understand is how to use the Sound class to control individual streaming sounds.
I have 3 sounds and 3 buttons. The 3 sounds correspond to clapping, vocalizing, and the instrument playing, all of the same rhythm. I want the user to have the ability to hear all 3 at once and toggle on and off (muting, not actually stopping) each sound via the respective buttons.
I cannot call the sounds dynamically, because I need them embedded (streaming) to sync graphics with them (the names of the beats change color with each drum beat) and need to see the sounds graph in the timeline. What I want is for all 3 sounds to start simultaneously, all syncing with the same graphics on the stage, and for the buttons to toggle mute/unmute for each individual sound, so that the user can hear them all, only 2, or just 1 at any point, without ever stopping the looping sounds.
This is the code I have that is working for muting all the sounds, but I have no idea how to target the individual sounds instead. The following is only for one button, but there will be 3 buttons, one for each sound:

I realize the SoundTransform is what applies it globally. How do I reference each sound individually?

View 2 Repliesi'm trying to build my preloader, my flash movie has large sounds to make a selection of music but the sounds loads in the first scene even if they are attached in the second one.
My flash size is about 762 kb and some 756 kb are in the first scene(such as sounds), this is the problem because my preloader starts function when they are 756 kb loaded and only works for the final 6 kb.

Is there a way to mute all sounds in a whole scene? I want to have a button that turns off all sounds and stops all sounds from playing until i press the button again. The button is done and there's a "set(gallerysound,1) instruction in it when first pressed, and then it changes to zero the second time around. But now I'm stuck. How do i use this var to control the sounds in other keyframes? (preventing the sounds from playing until gallerysound changes again) ?

View 1 RepliesI can get by and make nice flash sites, but I'm still learning what goes where and am still borrowing code to get by.I've laid the problem out in some detail as I am sure that will save a lot of questions later on, but feel free to ask if you want more info.Problem is as follows: I've built a two scene flash site using open source code for the preloader scene:[code]The main scrolling menu scene works great when it's a one scene movie and the preloader code works fine with a load of other sites I've built, but when I put them together on this site (the code for the scrolling menu precludes the addition of a preloader directly into that scene so separate scenes are a necessity) everything goes to pot.When testing the site (both as a standalone SWF file and when embedded in an HTML file) the preloader works fine and the main scene appears correctly, but when you click on any button to move back or forth along the menu/timeline it jumps and jerks along very roughly and stops short of its designated point.
This causes the whole scene to fail as the designated timeframe for each button contains a movie instance that won't function until the specific timeframe is reached.It's odd behavior and I'm stumped as both chunks of code work fine separately.I've even tried a much simpler preloader that doesn't display percentage or anything, it just cycles between frame one and two until the movie loads and then plays it (just like this one, but with no bells or whistles).Unfortunately my lack of actionscript knowledge prevents me from even finding a simple term to sum up the problem so I've failed to find any similar issues on any forums or Google.

ive made a button in the scene 1 which i have managed to navigate to scene 2 but when i click the button it goes to scene 2 but displays everthing that is in scene 1 in scene 2, how can sort this out so upon the button click in scene 1 it goes to scene 2 and only display content in scene2.

I followed the mp3player tutorial (part 3) from [URL] and got it working fine. Only problem is that the setVolume I'm trying to use with my music is affecting all my other sounds - button sounds and background sound. I'm aware of the createEmptyMovieClip/attachSound approach and got it working on my other sounds. But Lee's tutorial-mp3player is using a slight different technique, and so my normal approach doesn't quite work.

I have a GlobalDispatcher Singleton class extending EventDispatcher that can be accessed through a static getInstance () method by any class after the constructor has been called. i have a host movie that calls the GlobalDispatcher constructor and sets up a listener for a custom event. This host movie then dynamically loads in a different external movie (in the same domain as the host). This movie calls the getInstance method to get the instance of the GlobalDispatcher. Then after an animation it has the GlobalDispatcher dispatch the same custom event the host is set to listen to. The host then captures the event dispatched by the dynamically loaded movie.

Im using loadMovie in a parent movie to load my content movies. I need the content movies to be able to access a variable set in the content movie. I've tried using global variables and can't seem to get anything going.
I've got two layers. The top layer has the header and footer graphic alongs with the scripting for the menu. The bottom layer is where the content movie is loaded into.I'm declaring the _global variable in the top layer, outside of any functions, and trying to access it from the loaded swf in the content (bottom) layer.
