I bought a third-party image gallery xml driven where images activate html links. I need the image, when pressed, to import an external swf in the same movieclip where the gallery is and not external html links.

Is there a cross-browser solution available to give a flash banner an html link, without putting it into the flash itself? (i.e. the Flash has no clickable button in it). I tried giving the surrounding anchor tag a high z-index, but that did not work. I'm using the standard google swfobject to include the flash banner, but am not stuck on using that.

I want to get an idea on how the majority of people structure the flash websites they make.First, do most of you actionscripters, when creating a website, use a parent movie that holds the sites navigation and an embedded blank movie clip to load individual content pages? I get the feeling that is true because it saves a lot of space in your swf file.
That was the easiest question. Next, when you create a transition effect to keep the viewer occupied between loading different pages, how do you usually go about this?Assuming you have a blank movieclip in the main SWF to load individual page content.Do you have a movieclip animation that is called in the main SWF that is a layer above or masks the container movieclip which is loading the external content? Or, do you have the transition in the actual content SWF, with a transition in effect, midframe with the content, then transition out effect.
It seems the second choice might be a little more repetitive, but maybe a little more simple, then again, maybe not.My last question is not actionscript but javascript.I want to load my flash file from a link on an html page that launches a new window that is perfectly sized around the flash movie, with none of the menu bars and that works on windows(ie, netscape, opera) and MACs.As a secondary, if its possible,I would like to have the flash movie pop up into the center of the screen, right now it pops into the top left corner.Here is the script I have. I am currently checking if something is true or false at an external link. What I want to do is, integrate a "failsafe" function, so if the external link should be down I'll display something special. I'm not sure how to do this, but what I had in mind was to define x amount of seconds and if nothing has been received by that time, terminate the call to the link and do something else.
What I currently have is:

I am making a flash site where one of my pages loads an external swf. In this external swf I have sub pages with links. My problem is when I visit a page from this external swf, and then go to a page from my main website (clicking my main time line buttons) and then go back to the page with the external swf i was previously on, the page would go to the last page i was on, instead of refreshing it back to the main frame of the external swf.
I made a small, simple example of what I am experiencing on the site I'm working on.

I wanna link a movie clip which has instace name test1 to a external urlI am using a menu list which has main movieclip instance name as 'Primary_Menu'. I have a main fla, which has some buttons on the stage. When you click on a button an external swf loads(using loadMovie method) inside container_mc which is an empty movieclip.
On that specific external swf, I have created an empty movieclip called content_mc which also loads external swfs.
Is it possible to call the content_mc from the main fla? For example when clicking a button of the main fla, how can I point to content_mc which is part of the external swf?

I have been browsing here for a while & recently signed up, searched the forums but can't find exactly what i'm looking for because i'm an actionscript newbie..
Here's my problem I would like to load an external HTML image like so "<img src="http://image/dog.jpg" id="1" width="728" height="90" />"; but I am not sure how I can achieve this - the ID="1" is something someone gave me however I do not know if "1" has to be assigned in order for the image to load. I am very, very new to actionscript & I apologize if asking this insults anyone but if anyone can help me I would be very grateful - This has been bugging me for almost a week now & even when I try to pay for help no one can help me out.

I have a html page with a flash element. The flash element loads in an external swf. This works fine when I'm testing from the swf, but when I test from my HTML page the external swf doesn't seem to load into my main swf.
I have all my swf's in a folder called "swf". The HTML document is at the root level. In my main swf the actionscript for loading the external swf is:

Some how the path to the external swf gets lost. I've tried new URLRequest("soundComponent.swf"); as well. And like I said, this all works from the swf, just not when viewing from an HTML page.

I have a main.swf file. In first frame i load a background slideshow with this code:

My problem is that when the site loads the 1st time and click from the menu to go to the 2nd frame (1st content page) then i have to wait at about 3-4 seconds to load my html content. The same for the 3rd frame. If these two content pages load for the 1st time, then the pages open immediately. What can i do for this? Is there a way to open this content pages more quickly, or place a loader, and with what code?

Site loads two flash files at the same time with multiple dynamic text fields that load .html files with external css style sheets. The site works almost perfectly when viewed offline, but when you upload it the text boxes sometimes load and sometimes do not. I'm a graphic designer so I really don't know actionscript 3.0 (or any version) very well... so I'm attaching the footer .fla file which by itself suffers from the same problem, and the other files are too big to upload so here is the link to the other .fla file used on the homepage

I have a scenario that I get an string with html data, this is not just html data it's an email (outlook) saved as an html file and dropped in the string.Now this string needs to be formatted to an html document and should be a clickable link in a datagrid. So when I click on the link, the HTML document should pop-up and should gave me a nice HTML page that is readable for the normal users. I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.
