ActionScript 2.0 :: Loaded Swf Via The Empty Mc Method
Nov 21, 2007
I have a loaded swf via the enpty mc method...the usual. this loaded swf has 3 frames - "off", "slow" and "fast" - so depending on whether the user is on the "presentation" page (lots of stuff going on and needs the external swf to be on the "slow" frame) ok, I have no problem controlling the swf....i can make it go to the frames ok. heres the problem, when the user is NOT on the presentation page, i need the the loaded swf to be on the "fast" frame. heres the code i used but doesn't work as i expected.
If i use this method to create an empty clip and then once i am done with the clip i unload the movie which was previously in it, what happens to the clip. Do i have to re-create it if i want to reuse the empty movie clip again with the same name?
Using the web services panel, I've connected to a web service, but all the method calls will only show the param structures/types - not the result structures/types. To the best of my knowledge, I'm sending the right parameters, in the right structure, but always I get an empty response.The web services panel:
Debugger results (with breakpoint placed just after a response is received):
I'm trying to somehow target a MC being loaded into an empty container MC. I've tried everything I could think of.
Basically, I'm making a movie editor. Right now clips are added to the stage on initial load, then when they are clicked on they are added to the "reel" and they can be previewed in the order that they are added. Now, I'm trying to get it so that when they are on the "reel" they can be click and dragged and rearranged.
Here's how the clips are added to the stage in a function called loadClips():
Here's how they are being added to the "reel" in addClips():
ActionScript Code: if (currentTarget.name == "1") { clipCopy = new Clip1();
[Code]....
Now, I just want the clips that are on the reel to be click and drag-able (along the X axis but I'll worry about that later). I realize now they're all being added as clipCopy. That's going to be an issue huh? Is there a way that I can target the container and make that mobile?
I have a swf that loads into another flash file through an empty movie clip. For some reason, the swf isn't working properly. It works fine on it's own, but once it's brought into the other flash file via empty mc some elements of the swf do not show up or function properly.
I'm creating an image gallery and looking for a simple way to preload external jpegs (with % loaded) into an empty movie clip.I'm using thumbnails- there are no "next" or previous "buttons".[code]I've been googling/ searching all day.
I have made a simple site with some simple transitions. each button on my site loads in an external swf file into an empty movie clip.
One of these swf files is a guestbook which works when i dont load it into the empty clip and test it alone on my server (sending in the guestbook swf, html, php, and empty text file)
Now then, when i load in the guestbook into the main swf, nothing happens on the server when I test it - I am lost and now come to you people for advice. It obviously has something to do with being loaded into an empty movie clip that is causing conflict.
i just recently started programming in flash and so far I have learned a lot, but new questions keep coming up
My problem is that I want to load an external swf in an empty movieclip and then manipulate this loaded swf from my main movie. For example tell it to go to a certain frame. Is such a thing possible?
I have a list of 99 item (something like a phone book) and I will like to sort them in different method. Part of the 99 item might be empty, so the requirement is to move the empty field behind the sorted data in every sorting behavior, here the code we have so far:
I have a loaded SWF into a simple "holder" empty movieclip I have on the root stage. Inside that SWF I have two variables that have "stage.stageHeight" and "stage.stageWidth" in them. If I leave them on the code and test the root movie I get this error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. So basically I can't seem to get the variables to get the parent stage.
I have a preloader SWF that, depending on flashvars passed to it, will load an external SWF. The secondary SWF would load but wouldn't have any of the public functions available to the preloader. After extensive trouble shooting, I discovered that it was an issue with teh TLF text field I had created in the secondary SWF.
The secondary SWF will play perfectly as a stand alone with the TLF, and the secondary will load perfectly into the preloader SWF with all available public methods, but only after I change the TLF field to a classic text field.
Im having whta I think is a quite common problem. I recently started migrating form AS2 to AS3 and Im buidling a home made template for all AS3 projects..
I have just loaded portfolio.swf on top of main.sfw. The buttons on portfolio.swf share the same class as the buttons on main.swf
I seem to recall that Loader.unload() could once be used to stop loading a swf before it had finished loading. I can no longer find documentation or the blog where I read this. Perhaps it was an unofficial feature. Anyhow, IModuleInfo, returned by ModuleManager.getModule() has an unload() method. If I want to halt loading a Flex Module that is in progress, do I just call iModuleInfo_instance.unload()?
I have two SWFs: main.swf and external.swf. main.swf needs to access some methods in external.swf, so it loads external.swf into itself and uses getDefinitionByName("package.Class") to access the class and one of its methods:
var ExternalClass = getDefinitionByName("package.Class") as Class; var ClassInstance = new ExternalClass(); var NeededFunction:Function = ClassInstance["NeededFunction"] as Function; var response:String = NeededFunction(param);
Now, I need to extend the functionality of NeededFunction (which is a public method)... I know it's possible to override public methods, but how would I go about this with a dynamically loaded class?
I was thinking I could do something like this, but it doesn't work:
var ClassInstance["NeededFunction"] = function(param1:uint):String { var newString = "Your number is: "+param1.toString(); //New functionality return newString; }
I have a movieclip with two frames. Each frame has externally loaded text with associated CSS. The first frame works fine. However, when I click the button that takes me to frame 2 I get this error:
I'm tryng to make a public static method call another method, but Flash throws error 1180, sayng that the method called by the static method is undefined.
i have a fortran method which creates random numbers. i want to convert this method to a flash method . I want to get numbers from this method and use them in the delay method of flash.
the fortran method is the folowing
real znew1 , zold1 ,a,m,z1,p,TIME1 a= 16807. m=2147483647 B=2
I have a class called Animal that has a method foo() and I call it out within the Animal class.
Code: protected function foo():void { trace("Animal"); }
I also have a class called Cat that extends Animal and overrides the method foo()
Code: override protected function foo():void { trace("Cat"); }
However when calling the function foo() from the superclass it traces out Animal not Cat (using a Cat object).How can I make superclass call out methods in the subclass?
two classes, both extend EventDispatcher. Static method in 1st class calls instance method in 2nd event not getting caught. [code]also, since dispatchEvent() is an instance method, is there any way of calling it without first instantiating the class? i expect not.
getUser was already in UserService.java. I just created getUser2 and it's identical to getUser. When I try to call getUser2, i get the "Cannot invoke method" error. question: Do I need to specify getUser2 in some other file? like in some configuration file? if so, which one and how do I do it.
Is there a way to get a method's parameters from outside the method? I know that there's an "arguments" property but it's only accessable from within the method. I'm working on a RPC system and need to store the method parameter types in a hash table for easy access later on.
Code: class A{ function A(){ trace("construct"); } private function moo(){
[code]....
yet this doesn't, I'd expect it to: construct, start mooing, moo!, moo!, moo!, ...yet the moo! moo! moo! doesn't appear, as if moo() never gets called it all.
OK, from what I know actionscript in Flex runs asynchronously. I need the ability to run a method in a loop synchronously. Consider this code:
public class CustomerContainer extends VBox { public function CustomerContainer () {
[Code]....
This is not my exact situation as it is a bit more complicated to explain here. There is an abstract class and several custom view objects derived from it. Some of the views are dependent on others being completed first but I cannot seem to order them in the correct order. TIMERS are not an option. Probably not explaining this correctly.
[AS] on (release) { _root.createEmptyMovieClip("container2", 1); loadMovieNum("calendar2.swf", 1);
[code].....
It puts it at (0,0) of the _root! I tried "this", I tried "_parent", I tried nothing at all in front of container2. I even changed the x and y to something ridiculous. The trace returns the correct value but the clip ain't budging. Why?!
