Flex :: Proper Method To Stop Loading A Module Before It Has Completely Loaded?
Jun 17, 2010
I seem to recall that Loader.unload() could once be used to stop loading a swf before it had finished loading. I can no longer find documentation or the blog where I read this. Perhaps it was an unofficial feature. Anyhow, IModuleInfo, returned by ModuleManager.getModule() has an unload() method. If I want to halt loading a Flex Module that is in progress, do I just call iModuleInfo_instance.unload()?

I've got this issue implementing the Factory method. Following is the snippet of the the main chart class which calls ChartFactory's method to attain the proper object. I Type Cast chartobject so as to be able to call the Show method; I am apprehensive about that as well.
container = new VBox();
container.percentWidth = 100;
container.percentHeight = 100;
super.media.addChild(container);
chartObject = new ChartBase();

I am using this guide for passing data to modules "Using interfaces for module communication". For getting child module instances they have done this
var ichild:* = mod.child as IModuleInterface; (mod = moduleLoader)
What should I do to get instance of parent application inside module? How can I call parent methods inside modules?

We have a quiet big flex application compiled with flex 3.4 SDK.We also have several modules to load after some requirements (some at startup, some later).Everything is compiled with the same version.At some point i got this exception on my machine and don't know how to fix it.
VerifyError: Error #1014: Class mx.modules::ModuleBase could not be found.
at flash.display::MovieClip/nextFrame()
at mx.core::FlexModuleFactory/deferredNextFrame()[code]....
I removed and installed already several flashplayer versions, but always the same error.When we copy the artifacts that are compiled on my machine somewhere and somebody else opens it on his machine it works.

My application has a couple of modules which am loading as thus in my application.
<local:moduleloader url="Module1.swf" id="modulel" />
<local:moduleloader url="Module2.swf" id="module2" />
Then while loading each module I am showing the progress bar. The progress bar shows but does not go away. It remains above the whole frame of the application. The module loader is as follows:(Also note that in Flex 3 the same works, but am using Flex 4 and in Fx 4 it does not)
<mx:ModuleLoader xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"

I'm building an Air for Android App and I'm having problems loading a flex module. Does anyone know if loading modules is possible???
I built a simple app with just a ModuleLoader in it, which loads a mx:module. The module has only a simple mx:Label with a "Hello World" text.I build a .air with this. Then I build a .apk with the followin adt command.
adt -package -target apk-emulator -storetype pkcs12 -keystore certificate.p12 hello.apk hello.air
The application works just fine when running it on the PC, but when I do it on the apk-emulator it just goes blank and throws error #2032.

Currently optimizing an application at work. There are many files in some of the module projects that are not used by the exported (release build) Module.swf's. Are these unused files included in the swf's?

I have a Button that when clicked loads a Flex module in my AIR application. However,occasionally the Module fails to load the first time the button is clicked, but it works the second time it's clicked. When I debug it in the debugger the READY event is not fired so the remaining logic is never called.
var moduleInfo:IModuleInfo = ModuleManager.getModule(managedModule.url);
moduleInfo.addEventListener(ModuleEvent.READY, function(event:ModuleEvent):void {
trace("ModuleEvent.READY called.");

I am using RemoteObjects to call ZendAMF PHP from Flex/Flash Builder 4.6. I want to stop or abort a method call before it sends the request to the server based on an event or similar.
I have a class where I create and store all the RemoteObjects - for example:
activityLogService = new RemoteObject("zend");
activityLogService.endpoint=endpointServer;
activityLogService.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT,faultHandler);
Then later I can simply call this object:
remotingService.activityLogService .getRecords();
I am trying to find a way in my remotingService object to stop the request - and not send anything to the server - for example if some variables are not set properly.
I noticed there is an invoke event: activityLogService.addEventListener(InvokeEvent.INVOKE,invokeHandler);
However, I can not tell if that's going to stop things at the proper point, or if it's even possible to actually STOP the request - if so, how?

I was unable to solve it, so I bought a module from the net that is AS3, and now guess what, the module is build around the stage-object (enterframe events, framerate,...). that's all fine when it is ran as standalone, but as loaded swf (into as3site) flash says the stage is NULL ??! How could i work around that, or I need to set it's stage to something, OR I need to attach enterframe-events to something else (but what then)?

I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with this code:
[Code]....
I have a sample XML file with two images. If I remove either of the items from the XML, it everything displays fine, but with 2 items in the XML, the first item doesn't show an image, but the second does (maybe the first is being attached in a position behind the second?)

So I'm only 2 months into actionscript, and have been going along as I go. I've been able to figure out everything up until this point, but this is just confusing me. Right now we have games set up and a home screen to get to all the games. I have a background swf that controls the border of the site and that loads the home page in the center as soon as it starts. The way I have it set up, you get a set of movie clips that when you click on them, they unload the current swf and load the game swf.
This is where I hit the problem. In each game I have a menu where you can choose level1, level2, or level3. Clicking on the game in the main menu works fine and the main menu unloads and the game loads. When you're in the game menu and choose a level I get this error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found
[Code]...

I am apparently having problem loading a swf onto the proper level. Anyways, the short of it is that I now need to create all my movieclips on their proper layers and when they are needed call them to the screen.My main screen is on the first level/layer. I then created a movieclip on layer two. I then try to load the swf into that MC on layer 2 and it doesn't display.

I have a mainmc on the stage. I have another extarnal mc called buttons_mc. When i use loadMovie and load that external mc, the loaded mc's AS2 doesnt seem to run when playing within the mainmc.
Is it possible that a loaded mc looses all its variable values when it comes into a main clip ? Or is my problem lying in the fact that the root paths of all the clips inside button_mc have to be changed to suit the main clip's hierarchy ?

I have a module, which is a simple swf file to load.
Inside there, in a modules document class I have a code like:
ActionScript Code:
buttonMode = true;
useHandCursor = true;
[Code]....
When I load the module, I can see the drawn background with proper sizes. However, the cursor is not hand (useHandCursor) and mouse events are not dispatched. They are only dispatched on some children of the document class, not on itself, on its own background. ANd the hand cursor is only over the children, not over the document class' background itself again.
The document class of the module extends Sprite.

I'm creating a flash campaign which will be loaded into a client's framework, which I have no control over. The framework will already have loaded a few things such as locale, fonts and copy, and will pass these things to my swf upon initialization.
Since the size of my swf (let's call it the shell) is restricted it will in turn display a campaign-specific preloader and then load another swf (let's call this the campaign) with the rest of the site.
The shell and the campaign will both be PureMVC modules. The shell will create a few proxies and populate these with data passed from the framework (locale constants, fonts etc), before loading in the campaign.
When the campaign is loaded it too will need locale and fonts etc. so my question is, what is the best way to pass this data along to the campaign module from the shell module?
I could create the same proxies in the campaign module and load the data again, which will be cached, but this obviously feels like the wrong way to go.I've investigated the use of the pipes utility but this seems like a bit of an overkill in my case since the communication will be one-way and will just happen once during the initialization of the campaign.
Would it be "ok" from a design pattern point of view to pass the proxies to an init method of the campaign module and then register these proxies in the campaign module startup command? This seems wrong since these proxies have references to my shell application facade through notification names. Would it be ok if I move the notification names to some "NotificationConstants" class which both modules can use?
I could create similar proxies in the campaign module but this time populate them with the data objects from my old proxies passed to the previously mentioned init method? Spontaneously this feels like the best way to do it since the data objects don't have any references to my shell module but the "old" proxies do..

I have created a modular application. I have two modules, for example Module1 and Module2.I have loaded these modules in my application. I am using Parsley in my application. I have loaded separate different context builder in both modules.
But when I am dispatching event from Module1, I am able to listen that event in that Module1 but I am trying to listen that event in another Module2. I am not able to listen that event in that Module2 through Parsley.

And I want to wait for it to load complete before moving to the next scene and doing the following one...
createEmptyMovieClip("container2", 2);loadMovie("MC2.swf", "container2");

I've looked around and tried various examples that I've seen, but none of them seem to work with "simulate download".It doesn't seem like the swf does anything before it's completely loaded. It doesn't even display the background, just plain white.It also doesn't execute any code, so the event listeners I've seen used for preloaders don't work until the swf is completely loaded.Do I need to somehow designate a section of code to execute before the swf is fully loaded? How do I do that?
