ActionScript 2.0 :: Make A Movie Instance Go To A Specified Frame?
Apr 18, 2011
I have a movie instance that has code in it that will only work on a Movie instance but I need to be able to go to a specified frame when a user clicks on it like a Button instance
I have a movie clip that I want to be generated over and over again from the library at a random interval, and when the movie clip hits last frame I want it removed.Here is how I am generating it:
function Spawn():void { var Poof:Puff = new Puff; addChildAt (Poof,0)
What I want to do is have one movieclip that has many frames and turn that into a button and then make different instances of the button and have those instances display a certain frame of the underlying movieclip.
Just finally making the transition from AS2 to AS3.All i need to do at this point is make two buttons which will control the movie to goto next frame and previous frame. I have gotten how to make the buttons go to a specified frame number and also a button to go to a specified external url but no success in making a simple next/previous pair of buttons.
now how do i make the movie clip to first go from frame 1 to 10( last frame in teh movieclip) with the text time and then when the movie clip starts again it should say place and so on and so forth.. depending on how many textline variables i define in the text file?
1. I make a simple movie (call it movieClip) first frame has stop(); action, second frame has label playMovie, last frame has action gotoAndPlay(2); (so that movie not stop anymore2. Now I place movieClip on stage3. Question... what is code to make movieClip play frame label playMovie?
I already try to put many different type action in frame one of stage this.movieClip.gotoAndPlay("2"); //NOT WORK this.movieClip.gotoAndPlay(2); //NOT WORK
I have an issue while trying to create an instance of a movie clip, in order to rotate it dynamically. How can I have a variable of type myMovieClip in which I can invoke the _rotate method?
I want to do something like gotoAndPlay(frame label) for a movie clip with the instance name content. I am using an array for my buttons placing multiple instances of the button mc on the stage. When I add content.gotoAndPlay I get an access of undefined property error. If I add it inside the parenthesis I get an expecting identifier before my frame label name error.
I want to make a new instance of an existing symbol (movie clip or graphic) when an object hits the side of the stage. I have the code to figure out if it hit the side of the stage, i just need to know how to make a new instance and make it show up where the ball hit. I also want to be able to have multiple of these instances on screen.
Using action script 3 ( preferably ) is there a way of making it so when clicked my button takes you to a particular frame in another separate flash movie. ie frame 255, - and not just load frame 1 of the other movie.
I was wondering how to make a movie clip got to a frame, but the game not goto that frame? For example, make an egg goto a frame, and move to a random spot, but the player wouldn't goto that screeen.
I have tried using gotoAndStop(nextFrame) and gotoAndStop(currentFrame+1) in my code and neither of those work right. How would I get it to work the way I want it to?
I have a web site that will have five sections. Let's call them 1,2,3,4,5. Section 1 starts on frame 100, 2 on 200, etc. Can I make an HTML link that can start the flash movie at the beginning of a certain section? Such as play "myflashmovie.swf and start on frame 200" so that the viewer will start on section 2?
Another way I was thinking of doing it was to create the five sections in five different flash movies. Then import those flash movies into one container flash movie but vary the order to whatever I want the viewer to start with. Then I would have five different html links. Each link would have a different section as the starting movie. Such as 1.html would play a container flash movie with section 1 at the beginning, 5.html would play a container flash movie with section 5 at the beginning, etc. My question here is could the five separate movies within the container movie make references to the other movies? Such as if someone was in movie 1 and it has link to movie 4, how would I note in the flash movie when user clicks here, go to movie 4?
I have a series of buttons that when clicked go to certain frames which all display different content. I have a unique movie clip on each one of these frames that has an initial play in, followed by a loop, and finally a play out for when they leave that frame.
I have it so the movie clip plays in and then loops, but I want the movie clip to play out when a user clicks a different button that leads them to another frame and other content. But because they can click the buttons in any order they like I can't specify the play out to the buttons.
Can I make the current frame's movie clip play its "play out" part when I switch frames?
I have a series of buttons that when clicked go to certain frames which all display different content. I have a unique movie clip on each one of these frames that has an initial play in, followed by a looping animation (the character walks in, then loops waving or something of that nature), I would like the movie clip to have a play out animation (character walks off) when the user leaves that frame so that when they go to the next frame the new movie clip can play in (new character walks on screen). [code]...
I placed a movie clip instance inside a button, and I want this movie clip to play when the button is released. I'm using this code on the frame containing the button:
function playMovie(event:MouseEvent) { this.theButton.theMC.gotoAndPlay(3);
Does anyone know if it is possinle to scroll a graphic or a movie instance as well as a text instance in flash. I want to scroll text and images as well. Actually text with imges embedded in it.
I am making a website based in flash actionscript 3.0 i have a button nested in its own movie clip, because I have the button expanding to be able to read it i have figured out the only way to do this is by creating it as a movie clipa nd inside the movie clip creating it as a button. I added an event listener to the blog button by saying[code]...
i have named the symbol blog and have name the frame of where the blog page is going to be "blogframe" this line of code at the bottom is where i run into trouble the output window in Flash is saying "The blog button was clicked" just like i want it to. no errors are accouring why than is the playhead not going to frame "blogframe"? if the button is working when i click it the code is right i belive the problem here is it does not want the playhead to go to the frame i want it to. So i gues my question is, how can i make a button withing a movie clip interact with the main timeline?
I have a movie clip within file A.fla. This movie has buttons. Each of the buttons should go to their respective frame within a movie clip from a separate file.
Have used the preloader at [URL] and it seems to work fine however after the last frame of the movie it appears to flick (quickly) back to the preloader info, note I want the movie to loop continually. Is there a way I can add something that will make the movie loop direct to frame two and miss the preloader?
I have a label I am referencing form a movie clip inside the movie clip which contains the "label_2." Here is the code I used: MovieClip(parent.parent).gotoAndPlay("return_2"); Now I need to reference a instance name of a movie clip in side the same scene.
I want to make a button that makes you got to a random frame within a certain range (eg frame 41-50) when you press it. I have tried various codes but so far no luck. Im using AS 2 and the button is within a couple of movie clips, but you can still click it when you test
I have a FLA file and bind it to a class. I need access some instances on the second frame of the FLA file from the class, but I failed because they are not instanced yet.

From the actions layer, I am trying to "talk" to a movie clip nested inside another movie clip residing on keyframe Two of that clip, not the first frame, the first frame is blank keyframe. It appears that Flash can only recognize (see) an object's instance name if it starts on the first frame?
As a work around for this, I put the same instance also on Frame One and change the movie clip's visibility (invisible) so AS can see it's instance name to make it work, but I feel there must be a better solution than this.
I'm creating an effect in flash mx where lasers follow a guide path and reveal a word beneath. I was setting it up making it drop behind a square where the spark travelled and i used the setmask command to mask it, problem is, the setmask command only works with one instance at a time! Can i group multiple instances with actionscript? Or can i have it dump the squares on a mask layer with actionscript.I was also wondering if i could just make the script play on every frame without copying it to every frame? I tried the on enter frame deal but it didn't work.
