ActionScript 2.0 :: Make Text Or Shape To "elastic" From All Sides Of Object?

Just played around with tween classes first time and cannot find a way to make text or shape to "elastic" from all sides of object instead of "elastic" object to down and right:
So I have a simple game I'm making where you are a box shaped character and you have basic movement around the screen. I know how to make walls and the coding but I would like to make a wall that the character can't go through on either of the 4 sides or even a squiggly line that doesn't have a definite shape. I used this coding:

And that does kind of work, but it's not stable (works better with one side only). Sometimes one side of the wall, the character will still be able to go through. The tool I'm using to make the wall is a rectangle tool if that makes any difference. And I'm on actionscipt 2.0 on adobe flash cs4.
I am trying to make a program that dermines if sides can make a right triangle. The code that I made gives me that it cannot for everything except the sequence 3,4,5.

I am just restarting my flash adventures and am trying to learn AS3. I can a real quick code request. I am trying to make a MC bounce off the sides of the stage. When I use the following code, the MC gets stuck going -2 then +2 at the edge of the stage.

I'm wondering if a hidden navbar can be done at the left side of my flash whereby i can trigger it to open by sliding out with all the submenus and close it. I know it can but done in javascript but can it be done in actionscript?

how to make a movie clip have an elastic type effect on it when you can click and drag it and it snaps back into place in a springy type way. URL...I've set menu items with an elastic Y position prototype.What I need to do now is make the menu tabs collapse with the elastic force. So if i was to click the top tab, the bottom 4 would fall. If i was to click the 2nd tab, the bottom 3 would fall and the top 2 would go up.
I am trying to move a 'Shape' object across the screen. As the object moves, a copy is being left at the initial position. Almost as if only an instance of original object ahs been moved
This is not an issue for moving an image or MXML graphic. Is something wrong in setting to the move object?

Okay, so i have a circle symbol and i want to have my text around the circle, do i have to adjust each letter seperately until i get them all in uniform or is there some way to "warp" the text as you can in photoshop?
I am trying to shape tween from a simple vector object to a number of complex vector objects, but the same problem occurs when trying to go from one simple object to two.
Instead of slowly/smoothly splitting the initial object into two, it just copies them and they move apart from each until reaching the final two object forms. As if this wasn't bad enough, they are also connected by a random straight line. Ugly.
I guess I can understand why this happens, but is there no way to tell it to make the transition in another way? Shape hints tend to make the problem even worse.
Is there a way to break text through actionscript so that it becomes a shape? I know that I can hit CTRL+B two times to break apart text and convert it to a shape, but I need to do it through actionscript, so that a user can enter some text, and then I have some effects applied to it.
When you make a shape object and add it to the stage i goes fine, but often when you then change the shape object, like adding another line to it, it won't show the changed version. You can for example have this:

If I have a circle shape, or any else shape, what I should do to make a nice simple outline to that shape. Is there any way to make this simple. I tried to make this with the pen tool, bun it wasn't very precise. I want to use something else.
I'm trying to make text chat application using shared object. I'm using api Shared.getRemote("so",m_nc,true); to make the data persistent. It makes the file with extension fso. I want to save the chat history in notepad for further reference, and also load that data as per requirement.

I have an image, that will be dynamically loaded. I have some graphics drawing tools with which a user can draw something, which is saved on a shape object. Now what i want to make the uploaded pic & drawing pic into one pic. Actually it will be better if i can draw on the uploaded pic.
Let's say you have a room, and a little circle representing the player. Let's say also that you decide to draw a shape overlapping the room, set alpha to 0%, and use hitTestPoint() between this shape and the player to create the movement boundary. In short, as long as the player's centerpoint is overlapping the invisible shape, he/she is free to move around.Now, I decided to make things more complicated and add an obstacle to the room - a table in the center. One would think that cutting a rectangle out of the middle of the invisible shape would prevent the player from being able to move there. No dice, the player passes right through the hole in the middle of the invisible shape. The problem, as I see it, is that when the shape is converted to a symbol for use in actionscript, the entire volume of the movie clip is used for collision detection, not just the shape's volume. No matter what options and settings I play with, I can't get the hole in the shape to stay cut-out when I convert the whole thing to a symbol.
Now, I know I could probably add an extra shape to represent the obstacle, and add extra collision detection into my actionscript. However, given that there will be a large number of rooms in the game, and a variable number of obstacles in each room, this is not an elegant solution. The most elegant solution would be to figure out a way to map the playable area in a room with a single movie clip (/graphic).So, I turn to you fine folk. Can anyone tell me how to convert a shape to any kind of symbol, and preserve features like holes within the shape (as in, not have them glazed over as part of the symbol's body
i have rectangle movie and i want to make it triangle or round so it show round in the page. can i do so with i embed it or it must be done in flash before i export swf?Also i forgot how you make transparent area in flash?
I have an array of mc's, and i need them to form smiling face on roll over event. How can i define positions of these mc's on this shape?(smiling face).
I am trying to make a random shape, I want each different point to draw a line to every other point, which I know this won't do yet even if it worked the way that I wanted. But, at the moment, my code does nothing. It is supposed to draw a line from from the first value in the point array to the second value in it to the third value in it.
