i have named the symbol blog and have name the frame of where the blog page is going to be "blogframe" this line of code at the bottom is where i run into trouble the output window in Flash is saying "The blog button was clicked" just like i want it to. no errors are accouring why than is the playhead not going to frame "blogframe"? if the button is working when i click it the code is right i belive the problem here is it does not want the playhead to go to the frame i want it to. So i gues my question is, how can i make a button withing a movie clip interact with the main timeline?
so i have a main timeline and a nested one. the main timeline has a button named "how_btn" that plays the nested mc (named "how"). once i get into playing "how", i have a button named "menu" that i want to bring the user back to the main timeline (where the "how" button is). this is how i scripted:
how_btn.onRelease = function () {
gotoAndStop("how");
}
menu_btn.onRelease = function () {
gotoAndStop("nav");
}
the how button script works, however the menu button does not. is this b/c it's in a nested mc? i tried specifying the root, but that didn't do it either.
How do I link a button thats embedded in frame 2 (music page timeline) to a frame in the main timeline ( frame 3= biography page)? Both pages are on the same scene with link buttons embedded in each page independent timeline.

Say, I am working on frames numbered from 1 to 250. Now I need to jump to frame number 15000 and I found that I cannot jump to the frame number 15000 directly. I have to click in the Timelline and move the scroller right to its full extent, again click in the last frame visible in the time line and so on continue this until I reached the frame 15000.
Is there any easy way to jump to frame 15000 ??
I've got a button that I want to use to jump to a labeled frame within the timeline. When I click on the button I can't get my trace statement to work. The error message I get is:
Error 1061: call to a possibly undefined method addEventListener through a reference with a static type flash.display:SimpleButton
BtnDone is the instance of the button on the stage, btn1867 is the frame label I want to jump to once the button is clicked.

I trying to randomly jump to a frame in a sequnce of pictures on the timeline. Neither of the parts work below - the first "if/then" statements or the commented out switch code. Very frustrated with Flash CS5. Do I really need to learn AS3 to use CS5? I'm having other issues with code I've used in CS3 Flash not working in CS5. View 5 RepliesI have two embedded flv's in the timeline, one after the other. There are no errors in the video files. When the "playhead" in the exported swf comes to the end of the two combined videoclips, it jumps back to the first frame of the 2nd video clip for a fraction of a second, before playing from the start of the timeline as it is supposed to. I have explicitly done a "gotoandplay(1) in a separate action layer, at the last frame of the "movie", but that's not what happens.

I'm trying to go to the next frame in the main timeline from a class with no luck.
I have a movieclip called winner_mc that is created in the document class.
winner_mc is linked to the Winner class.
The Winner class creates a movieclip called nextlevel_mc which is linked to the Nextlevel class.
Then when I click on the nextlevel_mc movieclip I want to go to the next frame on the main timeline.
I tried this for the Nextlevel class:

I just added a motion tween on the main timeline only to realize it doesn't run. Only frame 1 is executed, including its AS3 code. No I could not locate any stop() command within the AS3 code.
View 5 RepliesI made an RPG, and I'm trying to make the movie itself go to the second/next frame. But whenever I try to do that, nothing happens at all. I tried _level0.gotoAndStop(2) and _root.gotoAndStop(2), both on a frame and on a movie clip.
It's suppose to initiate this function once a certain variable (_root.numbers) reaches 20, and I've tested if the variable does reach 20 by doing other things.
What would be the best way to move onto the next frame (frame 2), when an animation has finished playing on the first frame in the main timeline, with no user input? The animation is on the first frame in the form of a nested movie clip.
