I am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?

1:Basically, I want to make a little circle so that when I put my mouse over it it will give me 10 points then disapear, so I wrote this in the movie clip actions:

2: I would also like to know, how do I make a movie clip with a code but when I copy it the actions won't disapear. That would save a lot of my time because I wouldn't need to copy/paste the code in each movie clips.
But when I test the game and put my mouse over it, it just adds me 10 points but it doesn't disapear.
How do I make a movie clip disappear once the cursor hovers over it?

View 9 RepliesStartDrag, stopDrag, hitTestObject The Flash movie has three movie clips, square_mc and circle_mc that are draggable objects. The blackCircle_mc is the object that the other two instances, when dragged over it, should disappear from view. However, at the moment the example does not allow the movie clip instances square_mc and circle_mc to disappear. The instances disappear and are not visible in the target area of the blackCircle_mc instance, but not over the black circle area itself. The hitTestObject method is working on the target area outside the circle, but not within the circle circumference.

I have multiple movie clips on my piece. Each clip is of an an image, and when the mouse curser goes over the image, the movie clip begins (making it bigger).If you run your mouse curser all over the screen, they all activate at once.I want the clip to only activate after the mouse is on the specific clip for more than a few seconds. I know I need a timer. How do I do this? What is the code and where does it go in mine (below)?

I trying to create an animation that will demonstrate the basics of steering a sailboat. There will be a movieclip top view of the boat hull. Another movie clip will be the boat tiller. One end of the the tiller will have a grip that the user will drag with the mouse. Dragging the grip will turn the tiller turn right or left on its axis. When the user drags the tiller to the left, the boat hull turns to the right, and vice versa. I can get the tiller to rotate in a circle around its axis. However, making the tiller turn no more than 15 to 20 degrees left or right, and creating an event listener that will test when the tiller is turned left or right, then turn the hull the opposite direction as a sailboat would react.

1) the clip snaps directly towards the mouse at the moment the mouse enters the clip; I would like it to actually rotate;

i this code when i rollOver the mouse on a movie clip, it shows the alpha reducing over time , and at roll out alpha increases over time. but if i rollOver and rollOut in fractions of seconds , it flickers (like 60-100 instead of from the current alpha lvl), So i am looking for some code that can help me in fixing this problem.

View 17 Repliesi'm kinda new to actionscript but im trying to find out how to realise a banner i am making.I have 1 big movieclip thats about 5x larger then what is shown, i have 4 movieclips each on each side of the movieclip, left, right, up and down.The idea is that when i hover on 1 of the movieclips the big movie clip moves that way until the mouse isn't hovering above it or when the movieclip reaches the end of the side.I have given a mouse listener event to each movieclip on the side, the trace works well, but i i don't know how to make the big movieclip move when i hover the side, i hope someone can give me some pointers on how to proceed.

I'm creating a small drag & drop activity, and I want to be able to check and see if the dragged movie clip is completely within the bounds of another movie clip (or at least in the bounds of a certain x/y zone on the main stage. I can't use dropTest because it returns true if any tiny bit of the movie clip overlaps with the dropTest movie clip.
I also thought of something that just checks the x/y coordinates of the dragged movie clip, but I'd need this to reflect a range of values rather than one coordinate. For instance, I'd want to return true if the movie clip's x is between 50-60 AND the y is between 50-60. I'm attaching a small graphic to illustrate in case my explanation isn't clear enough [URL]

each page is also a movie clip and on release of a button its played. the problem is that when i press another button to play another movie clip 'page' the old content is still there.
Is there a way of reversing the page transition i have used to bring out the movie clip and then bring in the next movie clip.

View 2 RepliesThere is a bad gap in my knowledge with Event Dispatch and Event architecture, and this problem proves it. I've been getting nowhere on this problem for two days, I've posted everything to my Flash site. Go here, please: [URL] Click on "Flash Banners" The two thumbnails represent two different classes. Each class is identical. Both are "extends Movie Clip" classes. Tweeners of various types control the hover and click methods. URL Loaders load the thumnails which I then wrap in MC's and make them buttonMode = true, etc. Hover and click to load the Banners on the thumbnails.
I can't send an event from the Eagle movie clip or the T2D movie clip to tell the other to fade out. Both Banner classes are instantiated through a separate Base class. I'm sure this has to be an Event Dispatch from one MC to another and that it can't be done by the Base class. how I can send an Event or Event Dispatch and what the code structure is so one movie clip can in one class can tell the other movie clip in the other class to disappear while it's neighbour is playing. I'm happy to post code or explain / clarify anything that's not clear.
I've got a main timeline .swf file called "blank.swf" which contains nothing but two blank movie clips one called called "pproduct", the other called "ppalette". In the script frame of this main timeline I use the simple "Loader = new Loader();" method to load a URL of an .swf file into the "ppalette" movie clip. The "ppalette" movie clip contains several color chip buttons, each of which use the same Loader method above to load an external .swf into a clip. Here's what I want to do: let those color chip buttons, when the "blank.swf" file loads, be used to load an .swf movie into the "pproduct" clip on the main timeline. I'm wanting to be able to swap depths with various movie clips which will take out the movie which has the palette, but I want whatever that palette has loaded in the original "pproduct" clip to stay there.

I have created a movie clip with several frames and have tried to add a MouseOver MouseOut rollover to change from frame 1 to frame 2 whenever you roll over the movie clip. It doesn't work. It doesn't even seem to recognise any actionscript whatsoever within the flash file.If I change the movieclip to a button then suddenly everything does work as I want it to.

Q2)When I tried to create two different movie clips, I found I had to create them at different depths, else the first would load and the second would not. Why would that be so? I'm on MX 2004 Pro.
I have a very simple problem but I can't find the very simple solution to it. I've create an animated menu with animated movie clips inside to work as buttons. All the main buttons work perfectely but I've got just on button with a sub-menu. On this sub-menu I've placed an invisible hitarea button in order to place some gotoAndStop action. The thing is, it seems to me like this submenu hitarea are underneath something else (even though is the seccond layers right about the actions layers). I've placed a simple trace action whenever the mouse rolls over this area but I get nothing... Am I doing something really wrong? I'm losing all my hair already.
