View 4 RepliesI'm wondering how is this task done that listen to mouse move event when user cursor is out of stage?
View 6 RepliesThis is the top third of the stage that the user sees. When they click on a computer a window is supposed to pop up. Everything is working fine at this point. The full screen, (the small hard-to-read button is Random Hardware which opens up a window to a random computer), a link to the "Digital Studio", and the computers when you click on them.It's after the window is open that the problem occurs. As you can tell there is an X in the upper right corner of the window. When the user presses that it is supposed to close the window and return to the normal stage. The "Software" text is clickable and sends the user to the websites of Adobe, Microsoft Office, etc. When the user clicks the software it works fine, but if the user clicks anywhere else in the window it just closes and returns to the first frame. There is nothing in my ActionScripting that puts an Event Listener to the window or the close sign.
View 16 RepliesI'm trying to make a zoom in and out effect, on images in a movieclip, using the mouse wheel. But, there is another mouse event that scrolls through the frames of the movie clip. I need it to stay zoomed in, and out respectively, when you scroll to the next frame.

View 2 RepliesI have a "large" movie clip and "small" movie inside a "large" movie clip but on it's let's say upper right corner:
Code:
largeMc.addChild(smallMc);[
If i try to catch Mouse.DOWN events on them the following way:
Code:
largeMc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, largeClicked);
smallMc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, smallClicked);
Then of course both event are captured no matter where i click.Is it possible to capture independent mouse clicks on both of these two movie clips and if so, how can i do that?

I have a map application that when I use the mouse wheel the map will scale up or scale down. The next thing I want to do is to focus on the mouse pointer while zooming on the part of the map.
I have this code...
function focusMousePosition(){ onMouseMove = function (){ Stage.width = _root._xmouse; Stage.height = _root._ymouse; updateAfterEvent(); }}
var mouseWheelListener = new Object();var wheelNum:Number;
mouseWheelListener.onMouseWheel = function(wheelNum){ focusMousePosition(); if (wheelNum > 0){ map._xscale *= 0.9; map._yscale *= 0.9; }else{ map._xscale *= 1.1; map._yscale *= 1.1; }}Mouse.addListener(mouseWheelListener);
I'm getting no errors on this, Go (comeback) is my movie clip which should turn up when the mouse leaves the stage area and leave when the mouse enters the stage. I know it's probably my removeChild command but I don't know how to fix it.

I have a customised movie clip that replaces the original mouse pointer arrow. It plays well within the stage (when published onto IE), however, when the mouse moves OUTSIDE of stage, the movie clip disappears to be replaced by the arrow instead.
How can I have my movie clip (for the mouse pointer) to play inside and outside of stage?
I have designed a menu that When you mouse over it, a custom cursor appears. When you mouse down it disappears and when you mouse up it returns. If you happen to mouse down and then drag the mouse off of the menu (whilst in mouse down) and then mouse up outside the menu, the custom cursor disappears. All good. The only issue is: If you happen to mouse down on the menu and then drag the mouse off of the menu AND off of the stage, i.e the SWF (whilst in mouse down) and then mouse up completely off of the stage, the custom cursor appears at the point it left the menu. I have tried to fix this using MOUSE_LEAVE but this dosnt work when the mouse button is pressed down. I have attached an FLA, SWF and the AS below.
Code:
stop();
import com.greensock.*;
import com.greensock.easing.*;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;

I want a movie clip (let's call it homecontent_MC) with 100 frames play to frame 80 and stop.Then when someone clicks a button on the navigation bar (home, about, services, contact, etc...) homecontent_MC would then begin playing from it's position (frame 80) til it reaches 100, at which point it wouldn't be on screen, and the movie clip that corresponds to the navigation button press (say services_MC...) would start from frame 1 and continue til it stops at it's frame 80...
View 7 RepliesI am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?

I've written a lot of code, and I have a ton of onMouseDown clipEvents, but now I want to user just to be able to mouse over instead of clicking. Is there any code that will automatically activate all onMouseDown functions in your program?
View 7 RepliesI have a flash that has a background symbol that responds to CLICK event. On top of that symbol I have a sprite that contains a Bitmap with transparent pixels. Both of them are added to the stage, so they are not related directly.
I want clicks on the transparent pixels on the sprite to go straight through to the background. I have read about mouseEnabled / mouseChildren but have not been able to make these work. The symbol ignores the mouse events when I use them, but does not pass it along as if its transparent.
Is this possible to do with flash? Or will I have to re-route mouse events?
I want to program something that does this but I have no idea how to get started or whether it is possible.
1. Using the loader class I will load several images to the stage and set their x / y coordinates accordingly so that they don't overlap.
2. A random x, y coordinate is generated within the document class.
3. If there are any loaders that exist at that location it will be deleted.
If the x, y coordinate was to be generated by a click to the stage, I could do it like this.
Code:
// detect for clicks at the stage level
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, dosomething);
public function dosomething(e:Event) : void
[Code]....
But I want to be able to send a simulated click instead at a certain x y coordinate, and then use the .target to operate on the object that it refers to. Is this possible?
I need to perform an event when the mouse moves AND when the mouse button is down, how can I do that? What will happen is that when I click and drag the mouse, the width of an object will change. Here is what I have so far:
[Code]...
Frame 1
Code:
band_button.buttonMode = true;
band_button.useHandCursor = true;

Basically I am dynamically calling product buttons, which on rollover invoke a child of a dropdown, which in turn invokes children which are squares filled with colour.What I need is for these squares to be clickable which will then colour something else using the colourMatrixFilter (I'll probably start another post for this problem at a later date).For some reason though adding the Square as a child to it's rightful parent - the dropdown makes the listeners completely useless. Add to the stage and the listeners work. I can't work out why either and have done loads of searching.[code] also if someone could show me in the right direction of pulling the XMLdata for the squares (which will be a name attribute).
View 4 RepliesHow can I block a mouse listener object when I roll over a button?There's got to be a way to do this w/out removing the listener on roll over, then adding it back on roll out.

I'm triggering the appearance of a tooltip via MOUSE_OVER on a button and I'm finding it keeps getting triggered if I keep the mouse pointer over the tooltip. Both the tooltip and button are MovieClips
How can I prevent this?
Here's a snippet of my code:
for(var i:Number=0; i < MapContainer.numChildren; i++) {
var Country:MovieClip = MapContainer.getChildAt(i) as MovieClip;

I have loaded one swf inside my main file movieClip..I wrote a code in loaded swf
Code:
function drawLine(e:MouseEvent) {
mousepointer.x=mouseX;
mousepointer.y=mouseY;
}
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, drawLine);
how to access a mouseEvent in loaded swf
got MC A and MC B. MC B is directly under MC A. They are both indepedent on the stage, meaning they are not children of a bigger mc container. They both have rollover events, how can I activate the rollover events of MC B??Im aware of mouseChildren and mouseEnabled, but that requires them to be in the same container...
View 3 RepliesI have a movieClip on stage, inside is a dynamic textfield, and I have set mc.scaleY = 0;
Code:
mc.scaleY = 0;
mc.buttonMode = true;
mc.mouseChildren = false;
And suddenly everything above and below (on the whole stage) where the movieClip actually is receives mouse, I can see by the button mode. But it only happens with dynamic text, not static.
I have attached the example:
I have a stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, resizeHandler); that I would like to perform the repositioning of the objects when the user stops resizing the browser window. I imagine I need to use a mouse move listener, but how do I check to see if the mouse has stopped moving in the resizeHandler?
View 1 RepliesSmarter than I Fellows:I've uploaded a source .fla for my project: [URL]I'm trying to get out of timeline based animation and start using AS.... I've been watching adobe tv and reading, reading. I can look at AS and understand it, but am far from knowing where to start when building something.Here for example I simply want my previous and next buttons to display hidden at the beginning of the movie and then show when the user mouses over the stage.
Of course they should also on click let us navigate from slide to slide and the slides will transition in and out on X axis with nice easing and a blur (i'm trying to mimic the action found at FontExplorerX [URL]. Right now, I'm just tying to get my buttons to not appear until mouseover (maybe they should appear on load and disappear after a delay and then reappear on mouseover - the mouseover trigger would be the whole stage for both buttons, not just the specific area).
I have a map of items and I need to know when a mouse moves over the item. Should I add a event listener for mouse over and mouse out to each item (there may be a lot) or I should add mouse over and mouse out listeners to whole container and do some checking to detect whether the target has item on it or not? In the second way it would mean that the event would occur on entering each map tile in the container i would be listening. This seems a bit pointless, but I heard somewhere that I should add as little as possible.. So what should I do?
View 2 RepliesI am looking to provide some UI functionality using the mouse- I have two distinct UI events to be achieved via mouse
a) change value
b) delete object
I don't seem to have sufficient mouseclick events for both. I am avoiding using the right click as it has some default options(whose signing off will affect the whole project- not just this). I have mouse click used for change value- how do I use the doubleclick as the single-click events seems to get invoked prior?
I'd like to animate a button when I put the mouse over it. I use mouse_over or roll_over events, ok. But what if I hide the button when I click it and then I show it again later without moving the mouse? The mouse stays over the button, but the button does not animate, as there is no out/over event: I have to move the mouse out and over again to see the animation.
How can I detect the mouse standing on a button without the out/over event?
