ActionScript 2.0 :: Move A Block Of Text Up?
Mar 13, 2008Is it possible to use actionscript to move a block of text up (like movie credits) so it scrolls up smoothly?
I've tried motion tweening but no matter what i do, it jerks :-|

Aug 7, 2009I am working a flash app that will display a block of text into a dynamic text field when a checkbox is clicked on. I have been looking around for this kind of thing but to no avail. I currently have the checkbox nested within two movieclips and need it to display the block of text upon click event in a dynamic text field that is found on the main timeline in its own layer. Ideally I would like the block of text to appear where the text curser is currently in the dynamic text field. I plan to have a lot of checkboxes each containing their own block of text to display.

Jun 15, 2010I am new to AS3 and trying to figure out how to do something. I want to have a block of text that displays a discrete name as one mouses over several buttons. EG: As one mouses over button 1 the text box displays the text "Button One" and goes blank on RollOut. On rolling over Button 2 that same text box displays "Button Two" etc.
I am a noob and really don't even know what tutorials to search for to do this, 'cause I don't know what to call this function.

This will parse child elements of the <text-block> but will not work with <ul> as it has its own child elements <li>. I guess this could be accomplished with yet another loop but I wanted to check to see if there was another simpler way.

Sep 3, 2008client decided on a different font (after we finished everything), so i had to go change the font. in one page, whenever i change the font in one text block, the XML-driven lists stop being rendered. they load, according to the trace statements, but nothing actually renders. when i change it back to the original font, boink! everything is just fine. if i delete the text and create a new field... same thing. i finally had to hide the thing and make a new text block in it's place.

Sep 15, 2011I've had this problem even in AS2 - what is going on? Why does text in a dynamic text box jump up a line when you click on that text box?
Is there no way to have selectable dynamic text without the text jumping around when clicked?

Jun 17, 2009i found i can get vertical dynamic text block by setting to vertical and then to dynamic. But, then it ends up being horizontal, and if inside a clip, only the letters over another item in clip show. Like veritcal text on a vertical bar gives only the 1 or 2 letters that fit across bar, rest truncated. i've tried embedding text to get this far, but still doesn't work 'all the way' i see online they talk about all scripting for dynamic, vertical text; is that necessary, or am i missing something??

Jul 2, 2009My brother is currently living overseas with his girlfriend and is flying home for a visit in August/September this year so I have decided to mark the occasion by creating a 3-scene Flash movie. Just there now I had the plane on the stage, I had the names moving towards the plane but when I played the scene back the text and the plane weren't on-screen at the same time, as the text and graphic were in different layers. My question is how do I make it look like the text is moving to get on the plane and vice versa as in the next scene I obviously want to have the plane flying towards the airport, (more text) i.e how do I merge the layers or is merging the layers not what I need to do?

IDE :: Text In Textfields Randomly Move?
Nov 2, 2009This happends in a *quite heavy* flashproject at work. And what's even more interesting is that it doesn't happend every time. It seem's to be at random. What happends is that text in textfields would move ~1px in X or Y. Have anyone else encountered this?
I thought that it was the layout code that sometimes was updated but no luck with that. And it is not that the text is getting reset either. But it seem's to happend on mouse-input ( press / onRelease ).
This has been tested on different computers and it moved on all, nut in different ways.

Mar 21, 2011Mask causing text under it to appear to move...I have a mask that scrolls to the right over text.Before the mask comes on stage the same text is on a different frame before it in the exact same coordinates. But when the mask appears it makes the text under it seem to slightly move to the left. I've realized it is the mask that makes this seem to happen.I'm probably not doing something right with the mask, but I'm not sure.

Feb 16, 2012In almost all video games when you take damage a number appears above your head the slowly moves up and fades off out of existence. My question is, how would you do this in AS3 reliably with up to say 20-30 of these max occurring on the screen at once?
I know you can do an enter frame event listener on each one and a timer to let it live for a certain time span. The problem is making sure that the listeners are all being destroyed. I am also concerned about having that may enter frame listeners all going at once.

I don't know where to begin to interrupt the HTML GET-ting process in actionscript. This is where I suspect I can add the HTTP filter. It'd be nice to subscribe to the filter and periodically download it/update it to make sure the major ad networks are blocked.
