I've had this problem even in AS2 - what is going on? Why does text in a dynamic text box jump up a line when you click on that text box?
Is there no way to have selectable dynamic text without the text jumping around when clicked?
how to create a image gallery that uses arrays from a text file rather than xml (this is because the project I have now generates alot of html coding and stores it within a DB, it doesn't have any set html pages so using flash and xml is out of the question as it needs to be relative to the html page).
I have got as far as including my own way to get captions to be displayed as well....but here comes the problem, no matter what loop i have tried the captions seem to stay on the 1st caption and not change as the different thumbnails are clicked..

i have this code below that i made using a tutorial....it loads vars from txt file splits it then puts it into an array....once in an array it the brings the pics in from the array to create thumbnails and a larger image. my problem is i have captions to go with it and when i try to load the captions nothing happens or can be seen to be happening. i dont know where i am going wrong as i have no output or compiled errors

Basically I need a dynamic text field to be invisible on rollover and when you move your mouse off it, it becomes visible again. I have it working (see code below) however when the cursor is over the field and the cursor moves slightly over the area (still keeping it invisible) the cursor flickers between the normal arrow pointer and the text cursor. Is there a way I can stop this? Is there a better way to do this rollover that would prevent it?

If you take a look at my flash movie you will see that I have draggable movie clips, which contain dynamic text fields. These text fields contain text drawn in from a simple xml document. The problem I have is that the text in the text fields is hedged right next to the border of the autosized text box. This makes them look untidy and in the worst case difficult to read. I wonder how I can add some margin to the left and right of the text to fill in some space.The code which formats the text boxes is:

I want to use a button symbol that has dynamic text in it that can be edited in actionscript. At first I placed the dynamic text field over the button and made the group into another button, but the text was not getting loaded from the actionscript. I researched and found a suggestion to group them as a movie clip instead of a button as the button won't find the contained text field.
I've changed the button+text to a movie clip symbol and now the text loads fine; however, I have the button set so that on "Down", x and y increase by 2 and the shadow decreases by 2 to give it a "pressed down" effect. However I can't figure out how to get my text to move along with it, other than by creating a function for press down and release for each button, which is really laborious.
This is what I have been doing for each instance of the movie clip to get the text to move with the button:

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
As far as I know theres in no way to cahnge the alpha of a dynamic text box. I put one in a movie clip and when i try to change the alpha of it everything else in it changes its alpha but the not the DT box. Could someone plz verify for me that u can't change alpha and help me find a component that allows alpha control with a dynamic text box. thx in advance.

I've a PDF / Word document with arabic copy when I try pasting that text in flash all the joined letters start appearing as individual letters.I've tried the dynamic text box solution in which you create a dynamic text box and assign the text to its variable that doesn't work. But strangely when you write arabic in dynamic text box (with out assigning the text to the variable) and double click to select the text box and its content the text starts appearing fine .. but when published its again all individual letter.

The problem:If I uncomment either of the imageText.embedFonts lines, my text will disappear... but the trace(imageText.text); will still return the correct contents. It's as though embedFonts causes the textField to disappear.Possibly related, (but maybe not), is the fact that the vertical positioning of the font is off. Even though I create the textField at Y = 0, the text writes somewhere around Y = 10. I suspect this is something else, but I thought I'd add it just in case.
