I use the letsMove function to move movieclips
MovieClip.prototype.letsMove = function(time, step, limit) {

updateAfterEvent();

How can I use another setInterval function so, when the movieclip reaches the limit (in this case 100 pixels), it stops, waits for 1 second and starts the letsMove function again?

this should be pretty simple for most, but I would like an explanation more than just a quick code fix. I put all the script together for this object, here is the fla. What I want to do is move it up to the y position as it does, but I need the object to move faster and stop there. Since I have given most of script in the main movie, I don't know how to write the script for the button release. All I can get it to do is crawl up with targety=100; but I still have the problem with the mouse follow once my button is pressed.

well i'm trying to get this object to move on the press of a key (keeps moving if you hold it down) and stop when you release it, but all i'm gettin, is when you press it, it moves on forever and never stops....

What I have is actionscript which moves a movieclip from one point of the stage to another, using two buttons to trigger it - fwd_btn and rwd_btn. I also use a setInterval function, so that when you press one of the buttons, it pauses a second before moving. Unfortunately, if you press the fwd and rwd buttons in succession rapidly, the animation gets caught in a never-ending loop. Also, note that every time the user clicks a button, if the movieclip is right in the middle of animating across the stage, I wish it to stop and pause, not complete the animation and then pause.

I have a "slide" function that slides a MC for let's say 150 px. I call that function every 5 sec with the SetInterval function.

the things is, when i run the function without setInterval, it works perfectly. But when i setInterval and even if i added a updateAfterEvent(), it still won't slide but only move to the final position of the sliding.. So why doesn't it refresh the display??

I have a function that I want to run at an interval within a frame. I use the following code to start the function:
var intervalID = setInterval(intervalFunction, 3000);
Then, in a button's onRelease I want to stop the function. In the onRelease, I make a transition to another frame.
btn.onRelease = function()

clearInterval(intervalID);
gotoAndPlay("nextframe");
}
The intervalFunction continues to execute.

I have a movie that goes through a spiel and I want to be able to stop it then hit play and have it continue. Easy enough IF the movie just goes straight through. But what mine does is pauses at certain places to make way for some spoken word (to be added later) using setInterval.My problem is (seems to be) if I hit my stop button while it's doing it's 1.5 second pause, then the stop button gets ignored. How can I use setInterval to start and stop the root timeline? I would like to use it in this little fade function wherein the setInterval would kick into effect once the alpha is 100%. You can see where I think it needs to go. Here's the code.

I have few sound files and I need to play then in an order and every time after the sound played a button is active then the user can click on the button to play next sound....etc. But at some point my setInterval keep calling the stop sound function even though myTimer is delete. I checked the actionscript dictionary and I found that the delete action is for Flash 5. Does it mean I can use it in Flash 7 or 8 and actionscript2?

I am having problems with this function, which is called when a button is pressed. I am loading a JPG with a movieClipLoader into a newly created movieclip, and while this is loading the other is still viewable and is faded and deleted when the new JPG has fully loaded, using the code below:

I have a series of 6 images. In a single movie clip symbol (with the pictures embedded/attached in the swf), I want the images to fade in, stop for 4 seconds, fade out as the next image fades in, and repeats from there. I know how to do this with timeline tweens - but I wanted to learn how to make it in actionscript.
I've finally been able to make the images do this, but when I pull the movieclip into my main animation, it breaks all my stop(); commands for navigation. it seems to stop for 4 seconds and then continues on. I'm still very much an actionscript beginner, so I don't know how to troubleshoot it.

I am having some dificulty making a path for this enemy i'm trying to create... cause i want him to rotate + move, then stop, then shoot, then rotate back and move off screen... Its easier if you see it.. you can download the swf file in the zipped archive to demonstrate what i mean. I did it there with tweens. Why does clearInterval not stop the interval? Does clearInterval not work when called inside a setInterval? Am I doing something wrong? How do I get it to delete the interval when it reaches a certain count?

I am trying to move a 'Shape' object across the screen. As the object moves, a copy is being left at the initial position. Almost as if only an instance of original object ahs been moved
This is not an issue for moving an image or MXML graphic. Is something wrong in setting to the move object?

I know everyone has wrote this a hundred times, BUT I just can't get it to work
I have a main content area called MC that is very wide Then a mask around the area I want to see of the MC
I have two buttons set up below the mask for LEFT and RIGHT
How to I make those buttons move the main content, and stop when It gets to the end of the masked area so you dont just keep scrolling
ALL I HAVE in my code right now, is attached the left and right buttons---

I'm trying to create a small flash website for a Uni project (I'm a music student but they want me to be able to make websites, go figure?) and I am having trouble getting a video to stop playing when i goto another frame. Im using the FLV player from Window>Componants and i have named it PubPlayer.
