Feb 10, 2010I have an as3 application which uploads some files. I use FileReference with an event listener onProgress. It works perfectly fine in both Safari & FF on my Mac, but when I try it on a windows vista, both with FF & IE, a strange thing happens: It rockets the progress event from 0% to 100% in something like a second.However, the onComplete event is triggered seconds later - when the file has actually completed uploading. E.g - the onProgress event is not accurate.I use php as my uploading script.

Jul 30, 2010I am using a moviecliploader to load landing.swf into a mcholder in parent.swf. Now even though the movie is loading fine, I am not able to display the loading percentage. The percentage always shows 100%. I am trying make a loader graphic run as per the percentage value, but since it is always at 100 the graphic does not work. I have tried testing it on the server as well, same thing, no loader graphic.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Am I supposed to use a recurring function within the onloadProgress function???

Silverlight :: Automated File Upload From Browser?
Aug 13, 2010After all what I've read on this topic, I know that there is no way to do automated file upload from browser without some kind of "elevated permissions".But, elevated permissions is something what I have, bacause the application runs on intranet and user currently enables access to ActiveX control that makes it possible to do some document scanning using COM. Then a scanned document saved on file system needs to be uploaded.Now, the only browser requirement is IE7+ compatibility. But with IE8, the only way to set value to <input type="file" ... /> is manually clicking "browse" button.
Is there really no way to set value to input form field, even if the site is added to trusted sites and full access for ActiveX code is enabled?The same seems to apply to Flash and Silverlight, security policy makes it impossible to upload file without user manually selecting it. Silverlight probably could do it in OOB mode, but that is way toointerruptive if a user has to click to enable out of browser mode every time.ActiveX and Java applet could probably do it. If using <input type="file" ... /> is not an option, is there any lightweight (possibly free/open-source) ActiveX control that would handle uploading from file system?
updateI did investigated all the options quite in depth back there, and it turned out it's the paradigm of security model which makes it impossible to do automated file upload from the browser without user interaction. That means the use must either manually interact to upload file or confirm some ActiveX control or similar plugin to do that job. If you manage to find a way to upload without some special plugin with elevated permissions, you probably found a security hole, which will be fixed soon. However, that's the way web brower technologies are designed to work.

I pretty much just copy pasted the code from the flash help and when rendering, flash would show the file browser window when rendered in flash.However, when displaying the swf in the browser, either on my local laptop server or FTP-ed up on my server, the popup would not pop(up).why does it run when publish/test it in flash?

Feb 28, 2011I have an HTML form with a file upload element, which is based on Uploadify. Unfortunately, if the browser doesn't have flash installed/enabled (I tested on Chrome and Safari), then the file upload element is completely disappearing, while I would have expected to have at least plain, regular, file upload html element as a fallback.
You can see this behavior even in Uploadify official demo (as of today, 28.2.2011):
none of these work in the situation that flash is installed, but is disabled !
for example, this line:
if (swfobject.getFlashPlayerVersion().major === 0)
behaves the same weather flash is installed and enabled, or installed and disabled I thought about obtaining uploadify API and checking it, but I have found zero examples

This works beatifully when I am running a test movie on my computer, and even the fully published SWF. But when I load it on the web server, and run it in a browser. This doesn't do anything. Once the audio is done, nothing happens.

Flash - Adding Mouse Listener Stops Browser Scroll?

Php - Upload File Functionality Not Working In Ubuntu?
Mar 4, 2011I have made a Flex+PHP based application in which there is a functionality to upload a picture to the server. The application uploads a picture fine if run on Windows. But on Ubuntu, file is not getting upload at all. Can it be permissions related issue? Here is the log maintained while uploading a file:

Flex :: File Upload Not Working - IOError
Mar 8, 2011I have now ran into Flex Fileupload problem on ssl as many others have. I simply get an IOError, no other information as to what caused the error was given, ssl handshake or something else. How do I nail down the cause of the error? I tried using the ';jsessionid=' trick, still no luck. FYI, I am running on local https server, with self signed cert. Everthing works fine without ssl. With ssl, it only works on IE (FF, Chrome, Safari fails on https). With other browsers, server doesn't even get the request.

It uses PHP to upload the files and sends back a status message which gets displayed in a status box to the user. Now I have run into a situation where I need the HTML to pass a parameter to the Actionscript, and then to the PHP file using POST. I have tried to set this up just like adobe has it on [URL] without success.
Here is my Actionscript code:

The flashVars variable is the one that should contain the values from the HTML file. But whenever I run the program and output the variables in the PHP file I receive the following.

Its almost like the parameters are getting over written or are just not working at all.

I have 3 buttons on my stage (this is a small part of a larger project), named _button1, _button2, _button3 declared in an array so I can dynamically assign listeners and use a substring of the instance name to determine which button was clicked for other functions.My problem is that trace(e.target.name); returns the value _button1 on ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OUT as expected. However when clicking the button it returns "instance9" instead of the actual instance name I gave it.Why is this happening and how do I make it return the correct name? Why the hell would my buttonClicked function return a different result from the buttonOver function where the target is the same button for each function?
