I made a movie with 3 slide shows on Level_0. Those slideshows are .swf files that are loaded into blank movie clips on the stage. Each .swf that is loaded into the file is a dynamically loaded .jpg slide show. Everything is working great, except that I want the 3 slide shows to pause when the user presses a button.

I've been charged with the crusade of making a prettydifficult (to me) slideshow. This is what the client wants:1. externally loaded images2. externally loaded text (comments for each image)3. the timeline of the slideshow to be dictated by the numberof externally loaded images.Now, ive made tons of slideshows with 1. and 2. before, butthe request for 3. totally screws me up. I usually have a setamount of images that will be used, and accordingly, set up thetimeline using empty movie clips that use the loadMovie command todynamically grab images from a specified folder. They fade tweenover each other and everyone is happy. However, if I were to make amovie with item 3's parameters, I can't define a predeterminedtimeline. Im sure this can be done with actionscript but I am 100%c
I set up a slideshow using this tut' [URL] Awesome by the way, as someone who is an out and out fine/digital artist no matter how hard she tries desperately struggles with scripting, it's really cool to find tutorials like this which show me how things can be done in such a small file size and with such efficiency, I have a lot to learn. Anyhow, sorry I digress, I'll get to the point. XML seems extremely versatile and I'm going to look into it more.
I did both tutorials the one hat lets you step through (photo gallery) and the slideshow one, what I would like is to be able to pause the slideshow if I see an image I would like to look at for a while longer and start again when I am ready to move on.
I have been searching for hours for simple (mouse event) script that will pause my slideshow when I rollover it with the mouse....then play again when the mouse isn't over it...I will be targeting an instance (transparent movie clip that is over the stage and it extends the length of the movie).
I have a main video clip being played right when you enter a page. On that page are multiple thumbnails that load up another swf on a new level and play that video. Well if that happens - the main video continues playing. I want the main video to just pause once they click on a thumbnail. And once they close the loaded swf - to be able to play that main video again. Right now - I'm able to click on the thumb to pause the video which is great. But if I unpause the main video by clicking it, all the code seems to be ineffective anymore.So - here is the code that I have scrapped together...and would love someone to point me in the right direction to make this work.

I don't know why I'm having so many problems converting my project to AS3.I seem to be stumbling over every little thing.I'm loading an external (AS3) swf into an empty movieclip located on the stage.All I need to do is pause this swf using a button located on my main timeline.I have tried multiple solutions found in some posts here but nothing seems to work for me.here's the code for the loader:[code]The child swf I'm loading consists of a layer with two movieclips that contain all the animation. And a layer for the AS that has an enter frame event listener to advance to the next movieclip once the first one is complete.I have a movieclip functioning as a button on the parent movie that needs to pause the external swf.
I haven't found this one yet, plenty about pausing sound, but I have sound loaded into a movie clip so:

I'd like to get a pause button to stop the animation, get the position of the sound, stop it also, and then clicking the play button will start the animation, and also the sound from the same position it was stopped (in other words resume the sound). Here's my script for the pause button, it's stopping the animation, but still not the sound:

now a customer wants me to make a Flash intro in her (ASP MVC) site. The scenario is this: images are stored in the dbms. Every image belongs to a category. Depending on what category is selected, the corresponding images should be fetched and played in a flash player with "transition" effects (hope i used the correct words).How can a slideshow (swf) be created dynamically?

I wanted to create a slideshow in Flash MX 2004 using the instructions given in the Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash tutorial on this site but I wondered if someone could tell me if I would be making the right decision using this technique considering the following: My slideshow will be used for a menswear clothing company, so the images will need to be on the left and then on the right would be all the information relating to that image/item of clothing - no problem so far but...
I've already set up a slideshow the "long way" with 20 or so images as well as their related information on different frames - the images are on one layer and the descriptions are on a separate layer also. I've got a couple of buttons controlling the navigation back and forth between the frames and I've also got a preloader on frame one to load everything beforehand. The problem is that I'm worried about people on slow connections, that they'll have to wait an unreasonable amount of time before all the images are downloaded, so I thought that using the dynamic method outlined on this website would be useful and save downloading time, but I wondered if it was possible to keep all the information relating to the images on separate frames and just have the images import dynamically? The reason for this is that the information to the right of the images is quite long with information given about style numbers, sizes, descriptions and even colour square graphics are inserted to display available colours etc, so I'm thinking that it's probably not practical to dynamically load this information but to keep them on their separate frames as I have them at present, and also all this information is on top of a simple graphic interface on which I'd like to keep the info vertically centred. So is there a way to have the images load dynamically, and if so how would I get them to load correctly onto the right frames that match their relevant information? Can someone tell me if it's possible to use the information in the abovementioned tutorial to do what I want? Or can you tell me if I'm choosing the right method - I mean considering all the information including colour squares that will appear to the right of the images, do you think it's impractical to choose the Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash method? Also I'm not even sure if loading the images dynamically will improve things - I mean the images still have to be downloaded right - will loading them dynamically just mean that they'll load one at a time as the user navigates through the slideshow and if so won't this cause delays for the user in that they'll have to wait for each image to download before they can proceed forward to the next item?
I have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.
1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.
i have a question about text in a slideshow. i know how to make a basic photo slideshow with external images. but now what i want to do is add 4-5 paragraphs of text next to each photo (with possible scrolling). the text will be different on each photo.
I've completed all 3 tutorials listed on gotoAndLearn and I've got the following code.[code]So as you know I've got my 10 items dynamically loaded out of XML, as well as the MC Box, which is centered on the stage.My question is, how would I get the carousel to rotate around the centered box. I've used AS2.0 to build my site. I have several .jpgs that I'm loading dynamically on my flash site from my server. For some reason only some of the .jpgs are loading pixelated. I've tried to look up solutions to this, but I'm not exactly sure where a quality=best or smoothing=true script should be placed. And I'm equally as puzzled as to why only some of my .jpgs are loading pixelated? This is very frustrating, this is the code I'm using to load my images:
I have a TargeMC that i load another .swf file into. is it possible to have a button inside the loaded .swf that changes TargetMC swf file. sence it is dynamically loaded i dont know how to referance it from the loaded movie inside.

I have dynamically loaded a video . I have removed the movieclip containing the video but the video is still playing. How can i remove the video as well?
I'm having problems accessing a function that I loaded from a MC I have in my library. Addchild and all that stuff works, I just can't run the function inside these dynamically added movieclips.[code]But the moment I add .myTest(); to them, the one in button clicked works fine, but the other one fails and causes a compilation error.
So this is my code so far. What I am trying to do is load the attribute of name into separate MC's that are clickable to then once clicked have the MC "txtBox" load what is in the attribute "link".As it stands now the name of the buttons is loading perfectly, but the trace is bringing back an undefined value
I have a problem on resizing dynamically loaded swf in to a flash movie. The senario is
1) swf files are uploaded by users and the path of the swfs(flash banners) are taken in to the flash via flasvars.
2)so swf uploaded for each user is displayed in a loop
The problem is user may upload swf with different sizes.So I want to re size them to main movie size(ie 500*70) So what i tried to do is using MovieClipLoader and fix the size in onLoadInit function.But it gives really different sizes than expected.
I cant understand why flash behave like this.
1)Can i resize the extaernal swf by using above method?or
2)what is the approach to re size dynamically loaded swf s?
I am new to Flash and am trying to make a page that has a fullscreen image gallery with individual thumbs along the bottom. I can more or less figure this out using some templates,but I need to do this for over 50 different projects, each with anywhere from 1-100 images.Is it possible to make more of a container that dynamically loads from a folder of images rather than have to make each one by hand?
