I've been charged with the crusade of making a prettydifficult (to me) slideshow. This is what the client wants:1. externally loaded images2. externally loaded text (comments for each image)3. the timeline of the slideshow to be dictated by the numberof externally loaded images. Now, ive made tons of slideshows with 1. and 2. before, butthe request for 3. totally screws me up. I usually have a setamount of images that will be used, and accordingly, set up thetimeline using empty movie clips that use the loadMovie command todynamically grab images from a specified folder. They fade tweenover each other and everyone is happy. However, if I were to make amovie with item 3's parameters, I can't define a predeterminedtimeline. Im sure this can be done with actionscript but I am 100%c
I made a movie with 3 slide shows on Level_0. Those slideshows are .swf files that are loaded into blank movie clips on the stage. Each .swf that is loaded into the file is a dynamically loaded .jpg slide show. Everything is working great, except that I want the 3 slide shows to pause when the user presses a button.
I tried to change dynamically loaded xml file. Example: default loaded xml file is books.xml, now if I push button named CDs then it loads cd.xml. Do I need to use listener and trace? I have to files Script.as and Page.swf
I'm trying to get a dynamically loaded swf to load into an empty mc behind a particular mc on the stage. I used actionscript to create an empty movie clip using the createEmptyMovieClip command. But, how can i get it to create it, then load the external .swf into it behind a exsisting mc on the stage?
I have made a presentation with voice over, in which the images and audio files are loaded externelly from the folder where the swf was placed. the voice over files are in MP3 format, loaded with the script follows
mysound = new Sound(); mysound.loadSound("voice1.mp3"); mysound.start(0,0);

i have a text box in flash which has text loaded dynamically from a .txt file. and its html enabled.. the text file has a variable name. notes but it doesnt have an instant name.... the problem i have is. that when i snap a flash mx scroll bar component. it gives it an instant name but the scroll bar doesnt work.
how you properly organize dynamically loaded thumbnails from an xml file, into a grid. What I'd like is for the number of columns and rows to be set in the xml file also, and for the flash file to auotmatically fill out the rows / columns based on how many thumbs are in the xml file.
I've found examples of this type of thing in both as3 and as2, but I can't seem to get my as2 version working properly... how to create a thumbnail grid in as2...I don't really want the thumbs to link to a bigger version fo the image...
I am trying to preload an mp3 file dynamically while showing the typical 'percentage loaded' in a dynamic text box. However for some reason, the percentage just doesn't count up - it freezes on 100% even though the mp3 file is still loading. I have included the code that I'm using below. Also, does anyone know what would be the best way to adjust this code so that I could preload multiple mp3 files at the same time or one after another?
now a customer wants me to make a Flash intro in her (ASP MVC) site. The scenario is this: images are stored in the dbms. Every image belongs to a category. Depending on what category is selected, the corresponding images should be fetched and played in a flash player with "transition" effects (hope i used the correct words). How can a slideshow (swf) be created dynamically?
does anyone here know a free or commercial slideshow component for AS3 (must work with flex 3) which does the following:
cross-fading,ken burns zooming and panning with per image definition (eg. with xml file)scale-to-fill resizing of images dynamically resizable frame size (so it can be used as a browser background)It should work like on the following site [URL]My client wants this, but programming it from scratch will take rather long
I wanted to create a slideshow in Flash MX 2004 using the instructions given in the Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash tutorial on this site but I wondered if someone could tell me if I would be making the right decision using this technique considering the following: My slideshow will be used for a menswear clothing company, so the images will need to be on the left and then on the right would be all the information relating to that image/item of clothing - no problem so far but...
I've already set up a slideshow the "long way" with 20 or so images as well as their related information on different frames - the images are on one layer and the descriptions are on a separate layer also. I've got a couple of buttons controlling the navigation back and forth between the frames and I've also got a preloader on frame one to load everything beforehand. The problem is that I'm worried about people on slow connections, that they'll have to wait an unreasonable amount of time before all the images are downloaded, so I thought that using the dynamic method outlined on this website would be useful and save downloading time, but I wondered if it was possible to keep all the information relating to the images on separate frames and just have the images import dynamically? The reason for this is that the information to the right of the images is quite long with information given about style numbers, sizes, descriptions and even colour square graphics are inserted to display available colours etc, so I'm thinking that it's probably not practical to dynamically load this information but to keep them on their separate frames as I have them at present, and also all this information is on top of a simple graphic interface on which I'd like to keep the info vertically centred. So is there a way to have the images load dynamically, and if so how would I get them to load correctly onto the right frames that match their relevant information? Can someone tell me if it's possible to use the information in the abovementioned tutorial to do what I want? Or can you tell me if I'm choosing the right method - I mean considering all the information including colour squares that will appear to the right of the images, do you think it's impractical to choose the Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash method? Also I'm not even sure if loading the images dynamically will improve things - I mean the images still have to be downloaded right - will loading them dynamically just mean that they'll load one at a time as the user navigates through the slideshow and if so won't this cause delays for the user in that they'll have to wait for each image to download before they can proceed forward to the next item?
I have a class file that displays a slideshow and preloads each image in an xml file. the code is below. What I want to know is, is there any way to improve this code?
Is it possible to control one loaded SWF File eg.(MOVIE-1.swf) from another loaded SWF file eg.(MOVIE-0.swf) on a different level? eg. with a syntax like:
I have a Wondershare Flash slide show in .swf and I want that to play in my Flash website.I tried to import it directly into .fla, but I can't get it to work. And I tried different actions I found on the internet and forums. It keeps giving me the same error.
"TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at PreloaderSWFMode/checkUrl() at PreloaderSWFMode/openLoad()
i have a slideshow made out on an swf file and i want to import into my big fla file so when i click on my gallery button the gallery page opens and the slideshow.swf appears. I can get the gallery page to open no problem but how do i import the swf to this page so it appears and is ready when i click on the gallery page?
A client is asking for a slideshow to embed into a web page. The slideshow will have a thumbnail bar with arrows on either side to switch to the next or previous batch of thumbnails. This slideshow needs to be linked to an external file that will contain pictures submitted by visitors to the site. The pictures will automatically generate thumbnails that will call a large version of the image when clicked on.My current knowledge about flash and AS3 coding does not enable me to do this. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not possible at all. It sounds like something that needs to be handled by a content management system.
I have a flash CS3 slideshow that loads it's content from an external .xml file. If I export the HTML it plays fine, but if I move the HTML to the site root directory (just outside the directory with the .swf file), and let dreamweaver update the links the flash slideshow will not play. my site is at: [URL] the flash with the .xml is in [URL]
I have tested it with a simple tester.swf that is just a black square with text on and that loads in fine. However when i try to load my slideshow it doesn't appear. I get all of the output from it but it isn't visible.
I have attached the slideshow. As i guess there's something in there that's messing it up.
and so far it works fine - I get my firstImage.....I can also get the slideshow to work but not as intended, only in the first category "life", and that's really my problem......How can I make the slideshow work accordingly to my xml file, so that if I click a menubutton in the scroller it correspondes with the correct id and so on?
I know how to load in .jpg and .swf files via XML, but the issue in which I want to cover is to have the two alternate. See what I'm going is I'm going to have a quote show up (animated in SWF) then once that finishes, it fades into a JPG. That will in turn fade back to another SWF and then the cycle continues. These will be loaded randomly, but I would like it if I were able to keep it in that order of random swf, then random image, then random SWF and back again.
I'm looking to create a slideshow that needs to automatically advance, with each slide having 2 pictures and a short text description, each which would be unique for each slide. The file name for the pictures and description are contained in this xml, currently my XML file has the tags in the format <pic1> location.jpg </pic1>, each grouped for the slide they both need to be on.
Does anyone know any good tutoriols on how to create a "slideshow" or "playlist" in ActionScript3? The slide can be either a simple picture, a soundfile or a video. I want to be able to jump back and forth in the slideshow/playlist, and also see how long a slide will be shown. The playlist will be loaded from a pre-defined XML-file.
I have a slideshow and photogallery that I want to put on a CD and give out at tradeshows. The user can manually view the photos in each section or "play all". Right now all of the photos and text are listed in an XML file on a server. I don't want the info to be pulled from my server when someone plays the CD. Does the XML in the actionscript have to be a direct path [URL]? or can I store the XML files on my cd have have the info pulled from there?
I have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.
1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.
