i have a slideshow made out on an swf file and i want to import into my big fla file so when i click on my gallery button the gallery page opens and the slideshow.swf appears. I can get the gallery page to open no problem but how do i import the swf to this page so it appears and is ready when i click on the gallery page?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to load a txt file into flash by putting the url in an xml file. The XML file is structured like this:

Now I load it into arrays in flash: image[0] and description[0]. The images is displayed the way I want to, the thing is I want to pass on the url that is in description[0] to a loadMovie or something like that. If i say desc_txt.text = description[0]; it will just show AW0001.txt in flash. I've also tried this with load and loadVars but I can't figure it out.

I created an swf and a HTML output. Localy it works when I double click the html except IE.keeps telling me I need to accept the plug in. Verry annoying. But if I put the HTML and the SWF on the website the HTML is blank no movie.I cut the HTML down to a minimum as well. Any ideas what would be missing that is needed. Tried the original generated html as well.[code]

View 1 RepliesI am trying to create a list of names which is generated by a swf file that contains buttons representing letters of the alphabet. The user generates a name by clicking on the letter buttons until the letters of the name have been spelled out and then clicking on abutton to add each name to the list. The names are generated inside the swf file but I want the list of names to be deposited in a file within a folder of the computer and remain there as a permanent record after the swf file has been closed. I can do the Actionscript 3 programming associated with the letter buttons but I would like to know how to send the names to the computer file.

I have a Wondershare Flash slide show in .swf and I want that to play in my Flash website.I tried to import it directly into .fla, but I can't get it to work.And I tried different actions I found on the internet and forums.It keeps giving me the same error.

A client is asking for a slideshow to embed into a web page. The slideshow will have a thumbnail bar with arrows on either side to switch to the next or previous batch of thumbnails.This slideshow needs to be linked to an external file that will contain pictures submitted by visitors to the site. The pictures will automatically generate thumbnails that will call a large version of the image when clicked on.My current knowledge about flash and AS3 coding does not enable me to do this. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not possible at all. It sounds like something that needs to be handled by a content management system.

I have a flash CS3 slideshow that loads it's content from an external .xml file. If I export the HTML it plays fine, but if I move the HTML to the site root directory (just outside the directory with the .swf file), and let dreamweaver update the links the flash slideshow will not play. my site is at: [URL] the flash with the .xml is in [URL]

I have tested it with a simple tester.swf that is just a black square with text on and that loads in fine. However when i try to load my slideshow it doesn't appear. I get all of the output from it but it isn't visible.
I have attached the slideshow. As i guess there's something in there that's messing it up.
How can I make my gallery work? Initially I have a menu (scroller-voetsjoeba) in where I say

and so far it works fine - I get my firstImage.....I can also get the slideshow to work but not as intended, only in the first category "life", and that's really my problem......How can I make the slideshow work accordingly to my xml file, so that if I click a menubutton in the scroller it correspondes with the correct id and so on?

I know how to load in .jpg and .swf files via XML, but the issue in which I want to cover is to have the two alternate. See what I'm going is I'm going to have a quote show up (animated in SWF) then once that finishes, it fades into a JPG. That will in turn fade back to another SWF and then the cycle continues. These will be loaded randomly, but I would like it if I were able to keep it in that order of random swf, then random image, then random SWF and back again.

The file name for the pictures and description are contained in this xml, currently my XML file has the tags in the format <pic1> location.jpg </pic1>, each grouped for the slide they both need to be on.

Right now all of the photos and text are listed in an XML file on a server. I don't want the info to be pulled from my server when someone plays the CD. Does the XML in the actionscript have to be a direct path [URL]? or can I store the XML files on my cd have have the info pulled from there?

1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.
i have a question about text in a slideshow. i know how to make a basic photo slideshow with external images. but now what i want to do is add 4-5 paragraphs of text next to each photo (with possible scrolling). the text will be different on each photo.

I was originally going to put one clip per frame in the master timeline and have some sort of pause sequence to play them one after another. What I ultimately want to accomplish is to have these clips play one after the other without having to click any buttons, so basically straight through.

It is in the library and the video plays when i test the movie on my laptop, however, I have now uploaded the .swf file website to a host along with the video and it isn't playing. Any ideas how to sort this out? Not completely sure myself! Using Flash CS4 with Actionscript 2.0 if that makes any difference to anything.
View 9 RepliesI'm making a presentation in Flash that needs to be put on a DVD, which we will given to people in my organization to view at home. The presentation will not contain any interactivity. It will have text, music, video, and narration.
The videos will be short and contain sound, should I embed them in the fla file? I planned to break the presentation into scenes to make it easier to manage, and so they'll just play one after another. My computer can burn DVDs, so I was just going to export the swf to DVDS.
Assume the main time line is A. On A I've got movie clip Z also On A . I've got movie clip B and inside B I've got a movie clip C (I need it to be this way because it soft of a TAB meanu).My problem is the actionscript written in C makes few objects called planet 1, planet 2, planet 3 on A function well. But when I move planet 1, planet 2, planet 3 to a movie clip (planets_mc) it won't function! How can I put planet 1,2 and 3 in to one mc and still make the actionscript in C work?I've used the _root. command in the script C. Hope my question is clear enough!
