I have several (300 actually) movie clips, just plain shapes, which I would like to change colors randomly by fading from one color to another. I would like each one to be different, so they don't appear as if they are all changing at the same time. Sort of a psychedelic effect...I've searched the web day and night and can't find anything thing even close.
View 14 RepliesI have a question regarding the dynamic coloring of movieclips. I want to be able to specify a limited number of binhex values, and have those colors applied randomly to a movieclip.
I made a little diagram to show what I mean:
The original clip will be in simple black and white . . . but I'm looking for a way to apply those binhex values to the duplicated clips' color areas in random arrangements.
I can't seem to find any specific information on this anywhere.
Checked out the kirupa easy random color code, but is it possible to call random values from an array of colors? these examples don't seem to be working.. Code:

I am trying to get symbols to randomly get tinted from 4 select colors.The symbols come in randomly but would like them to come tinted randomly as well. How would you get them to tint at a random color in AS2?
View 5 RepliesI have played around with it and made it "rollover" instead of "release".However, i don't really like the random colors selected.Can i choose a certain color series (yellow for instance; light yellow, dark yellow).Or make it turn into a specific number of colors on the same square; it can randomly select from a series of colors i have listed?

how i can apply random colors to "mystr" string? in as2
I wonder what kind of class(es) I should use to accomplish this task. I have two predefined colors, 0xFF0000 and 0x00FF00 (red and green), and I would like to set a number of gradiants of colors between these two colors. [code]This generates a random color, but I don't want to generate just any random one. Does anyone know what kind of color class I should use to accomplish my task objective?
View 5 RepliesIs it putting the first random var and then the second, like this?
frases.push(myXML.pais.frase1[ps][r]);
If I'm creating a Flash file (ActionScript 3.0) based off of a Photoshop file, do I need to use web only colors in Photoshop? I creating a pop-up page for a site.
View 6 RepliesI want a movieclip consisting of a dynamic text box that, from the time it's loaded onto the stage, loads a randomly selected text string from an array, and continues to loop until the clip is removed from the stage. I also want the text strings to appear in the text box for random intervals between 500 and 3000 milliseconds.
While I've found tutorials here and elsewhere on loading one element from an array, usually triggered by a button, I don't know how to combine/alter it with the other elements.So I want this movieclip on the stage randomly flashing phrases from an array, some for a barely perceptible time, and others for a readable time.
why is this code NOT loading a random image, despite tracing random number?
package {
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.*;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.display.MovieClip;

What I want is for my mc to slide to a new random x position when it is less than 5 pixels away from its target, it keeps doing this. the problem is for some bloody &*$(()** reason my random numbers only keep going up!! why is this?? i want to produce random numbers between 1 and 770 - this is my code..

I've been putting data into an array via XML, and then selecting at random an image string to load in a pic at random. But whilst doing this, I wanted to remove the String from the Array that I have just used, so I don't get repetition of the same image in the output. I initially thought that pop would remove the string I had just used - But of course it Removes the last value in the Array instead, which doesn't really help.
Ok - so how about randomizing the data once inside the Array, after it has been pulled in from XML!? That way I can load in the 'last' image, and then pop it out! Keeping a randomized selection of images each time 'it' is loaded
1) what value is seeded to Math.random() to generate the random number?
View 2 RepliesA background music looping in the back, that starts with the opening of the swf and never stops. I think I achieved that with this bit of code :import flash.media.Sound;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.media.SoundChannel;
bg music[code].....
Finally I need to jump from frame to frame randomly to play various animations. For example :Project starts, background music starts playing, we hear random sounds played one after the other, while some animations can be seen on screen, playing in a random order.
I have a picture on the stage covered by 12 squares (sq1, sq2, sq3.......sq12)
When the movie opens I want the squares to move down, but i want a random sequence ( 3, 9, 2, 12...........8). I already made de function for the movement:

im playing with the load random movie (but loading a random xml file instead) based on the wonderful tutorial from front page and was wondering whether anyone can show me the work around/upgrade to AS2 for this bit of script since im publishing to Flash 8 /AS2 and it doesnt work:

Making a random number between lets say 0 and 99 is relatively straight forward using the Math.random class What is the best way to create 100 unique random numbers from between 0 and 99 where no random number is repeated?Would I make a random number, chuck it into an array then the next random number created is checked against the array, and if the number has been created before try for another number?
View 2 RepliesI am now using the code for my background image which will rotate when you enter a new gallery.I can't get it to randomize.[code]I have tried adding: Math.floor(Math.random() * total); and it almost works. It seems everytime the last node is called it stops working (also at other random times, haven't found a pattern).
View 1 RepliesWhat I want to do is to get the movie to display random images (from a selection) for random amounts of time (subject to minimum and maximum times).
View 3 RepliesHow can i create a random number without using Math.random() I think this can be done with a array... i just don't know how.
i need it for a google banner. they don't allow Math.random() of random() in the sript
I want to make a box that changes color when the mouse rolls over it, and changes randomly between 10 different colors.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to style a DataGrid component so that the background is transparent (Flex 4). Rgba colors work fine if I make "alternatingItemColors" an attribute on the component, but if I try to declare it in my css stylesheet, I cannot declare the alpha value.
Works (mxml):
<mx:DataGrid id="songGrid" width="800" height="529" dataProvider="{songs}" itemClick="handleRowClick(event);" x="145" y="168" headerStyleName="dataGridHeader" alternatingItemColors="[0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF]">
[Code]...
If I enter the values as "0xFFFFFFFF", I get a parse error, because it's not proper css (of course, most of flex's css isn't proper css, but I digress...). So, is there any way to declare the alpha value of these colors in the css?
I used the example of the "Changing Colors Using ActionScript" from your site to add to a rollover state on a movieClip. It works fine but how to I reverse the state when I rollOut. eg goes to black on rollOver and then back to its original full color image on rollOut?
View 3 RepliesI'm working on a Mac. Now I made a site and when I compare colors on pc I get a huge difference:s. My green grey looks like it's black. How do you manage to get the colors wright on both platforms? The calibration of my screen is perfect for print.
View 1 RepliesI've searched a few times, but I can't seem to find how to reverse this formula which takes Visual Basic's BGR format and turns it into RGB: var RGB = (color & 0x000000ff) << 16 | (color & 0x0000FF00) | (color & 0x00FF0000) >> 16 I need to take the RGB and turn it into BGR to feed into VB. I'm sure it's a simple bitwise operation, but I keep getting weird effects, like blue turns to green when it converts.
View 3 RepliesI have my first color from some code I found, so I did a screencap & sampled it in PhotoShop to get the hex color for the color chip that changes my grayscale bitmap to that color on rollover.
Code:
myColorTransform.ra = 50;
myColorTransform.rb = 244;
myColorTransform.ga = 40;
myColorTransform.gb = 112;
[code]....
hex is about #f9c480 and I'm cool with my first accidental color. But how do I get more colors. How to start with a hex color and figure out what to put for rb, ga, ba, etc?
I'm in a bit of a pickle with this problem. How the heck can I create a function which rotates a uint value gradually through all colors? E.g, start with red, fade to yellow, then green, blue etc. over time then back to red.een rattling my noggin (and google) now for a while but come up with noBthing that wouldn't be insanely long-winded. There must be an easy-ish way to do this?
View 5 RepliesIve been editing a template for a photography website (in flash) but she wanted the font changed through out the site and the colour of this font changed to.
