View 14 RepliesIs it possible to have a context menu on a multiple frame movie with all the options except next, prev and play..?I want to have zoom in/out but not next/prev..
View 3 RepliesI am using Flash 8 by the way. Anyways what I am doing is making a menu with different options. I need the user to click on various buttons from the menu and then after those buttons are clicked, an animation needs to play and then return to the original menu. I have got the mouse to follow my custom cursor and made the general outline of the menu, but no buttons so far.
View 3 RepliesI'm having some trouble with drop down menus. I've got them set up with onrollover to display the menu options and use both rollout & dragout to deactivate (which prevents the menu from sticking by accidentally "dragging" off the area).The menu displays just fine, and I want the background of the options to highlight (by switching color) when the mouse moves over it or presses on it. Unfortunately, nothing happens.I used this as my base color switch
------------------------
function paint(mc, brush){ var fincolor = brush;myColor = new Color(mc);myColor.setRGB(fincolor);}[code]..........
I have a bunch of menus that will over lap each other at different times, and they have buttons in them you can click for commands. But when I have menu B on top of menu A, like cards, I don't want the onPress commands used in menu B reacting with buttons on the menu A beneath. Normally I would just move the menus, but in this case, they need to be laid out like cards.

For example, if you right click on Windows bar, Lock the Taskbar is checked (marked).
I would like to create an Options Menu in my Flash AIR application for Android. I've figured out already, that this ActionScript code could be used for capturing the hardware Menu button press event:
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, _onKeyDown);
function onKeyDown(event:KeyboardEvent):void {
if(event.keyCode == Keyboard.MENU) {
event.preventDefault();
trace("Menu Pressed");
}}
But how do you create the actual menu? If you can't do it with AIR, then has anybody tried to recreate/mimic it manually already and could you please share the properties (colors, transparency, any gradients?) and transitions (sliding in/out) you've used? I've found some guidelines already, but any Flash-specific tips/properties (like which easing to use for sliding transitions?).
where I can get or make a component where menu options are zoomed when rolled over, similar to the dock in Mac OS X?
View 2 RepliesCan someone share their method for adjusting the brightness of a Movie Clip?

how can i adjust brightness with actionscript, is just that im a begginer and only know to adjust alpha, but now I want to adjust the brightness to a graphic that`s inside a movie
View 1 RepliesIm building a program that queries a database for options and displays the options in a number of comboBoxes. The comboBoxes are dynamically built and loaded via code and added to the stage. I would like to build the comboBoxes into a single movie clip (maybe not the correct wording) so I can use options like tweening and such to make it look better. The code is below.
package classFiles
{
import flash.display.MovieClip;

Basically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
// Import the Menu control.
import mx.controls.Menu;

I am trying to make a menu that has a "slider" arrow at the top that points to the current button that you clicked. Right now I just have it so that if you click a button it changes the x position of the arrow movie clip to go over a certain button. I would like to create the effect where it moves slower to the different buttons and then it "springs" back and forth over the button getting closer and closer until it finally stops.
I have tried using some formulas that I found on the web, but I can't get the button to control the motion of the movie.[URL]
What I want to do is have 6 menu buttons with states (such as mouseOver, mouseOut and mouseClick). I have my MC's on stage as:
menuMC.homeMC
menuMC.flashMC
menuMC.videoMC

I have 2 swfs, one image loader which I built a while ago and will eventually update to AS3 and a newer swf I built in AS3. I want to be able to 'pull' a variable from the AS2 swf when a button on the AS3 swf is pressed. How might i be able to do this. LocalConnection wont do it I dont think - i cant load the AS2 swf into the AS3 swf and obviously cant do the reverse though this would be the way to do it if it were possible. So when a button in the AS3 swf is pressed I want to call the AS2 swf and return a variable from the AS2 swf (the filename of the current image). Would both swfs sharing ExternalInterface work?
View 2 Repliesim trying to create a button, in which when highlighted should bring up options relating to that specific scene. I cannot seem to get it working, because whenever I highlight the options movie clip, it play the animation which hold the buttons, but as soon as my mouse moves over to click the buttons it disappear.I have attached an example .fla file.
P.S. If what i said above is confusing, then basically my problem is that when i select the options movie clip, it brings up another box, with the options. But i cannot move my mouse into the box with the options because it disappears when my mouse enters the box area.

I would like to know my options for opening the movie. What we would like is to have a link at the bottom of the page, and when clicked, the movie opens. We prefer not to simply use the html file which may be easier for what we want. Is it possible to open the movie from an HTML link? I'm guessing no.
View 2 RepliesThere is a div in my project, and this project is on-line. Inside this div there is a space that is made in flash (actionscript 3), inside this space we have to sign a contract with the mouse. How can I save this signature without an options window to choose where I want to save this signature?
(The button to save the signature is made in flash too).
I am trying to create a site where the menu section will expand with sub-sections when certain buttons are clicked. I have created a main page with navigation, and a movie clip which holds the content for each page. The navigation from buttons on the main page works fine and leads to correct sections [labelled frames] within the MC. I have placed an additional button on the movie clip, it is revealed when one of the main buttons is clicked. However when this button on the MC is clicked, nothing happens.
I want to be able to move some buttons down and slot additional ones in between the existing buttons so that sub-sections are only revealed when looking at the relevant main section. I have tried to do this using the movie clip, however buttons below are not blocked and those above do not work.Here is the code I have used for the buttons - I have tried putting the sub-button code on both the scene and the MC - neither has worked.
ActionScript Code:
btn_home.onRelease = function () {
content_mc.gotoAndStop ("home");

So I published my Flash Movie using the HTML settings of Match Movie Size, rather than Fit To Screen (fit to percent, I believe it is) under the publish settings options. This way it works great, but there is no scrollbar on the browser. So my stage size is pretty big, lets pretend its 1200x1200 lol. So, now I want every monitor in the world to be able to see the entire page. I do not want it to fit to their screen, but I want them to be able to scroll down using their browsers scrollbar rather than a scrollbar within the SWF itself.
So imagine you are on a 15 inch monitor, and you are browsing my 1200x1200 HTML page, calling the SWF. You need to be able to scroll down to see the bottom, and scroll right to see the right side. Why is the browser scrollbar not appearing? Is there anything I must do?
I'm making my new photography site, and it's going to be entirely in flash. I'm an intermediate flash person, but there is something I'd like to do with my menu that I can't figure out how to do. I'm going to have 4 buttons:

I would not have asked the question if I owned an iphone, but so far I only have an android phone for development.
The question is: Should I use the View.viewMenuItems that are provided by flex mobile? Or should I better embed the functionality in another way? I don't know what possibilities might exist on iphone to open the menu, because it has no hardware button "menu".
By the way: How could I open the menu in the Flash-Builder mobile device emulator - there are no buttons, too..
I need a tutorial for a hierarchical drop down menu system that drops down 3 sub levels. Do I make the items in the sub menus individual buttons and then insert them into a movie clip or make every sub menu item a movie clip and insert them into buttons?
View 1 RepliesI am building a menu and for each button of the menu, subbuttons apear beneath it along the menu. And I am having some problems. Each of the menu buttons has animations for rollOver and rollOut. What can I do so that when I move over the subbuttons the menu button won't start the rollOut animation. I have to extend the hit state. If I put the subbuttons in the same movie clip as the menu button, the animation would be bad because I am doing width, height, x and y tweenings with ActionScript and addind something the the clip would change these properties. Pls help.
Is it possible to extend the hit state of the menu button in some way ?
I have a movieclip acting as a button and when the mouse rolls over it I would like the symbol to brighten slightly. Is there a way to do this in actionscript 3?
View 1 Repliesis there any way to control the brightness of a movie clip or button on mouse roll over so that it gets brighter when the mouse is on it? I could only find things for earlier versions of AS and i couldnt figure out how to change them..
