I am creating a card game everything is fine but I am not able to create a stack of cards as follows: If I have 4 cards that are represented in an array such as 4,5,6,7 of Spades then I want the card with the least priority to be placed on top and the highest priority card placed behind the first one.

I have a file where movie clips are added to the stage at random time intervals and locations. How do I get pieces of code to effect all the created movie clips? At the moment I'm using attachMovie to add the movie clips to the stage. Once a movie clip is added I want to add three actions to it: the first makes it so that clicking on the movie clip will remove it from the stage, the second makes the movie clip move in a random direction across the stage, and the third makes it so that when the movie clip reaches the end of it's own timeline it performs an action then removes itself.

I have very big problem with generating movieClips at the begining of my code I have two preloaders I'm using createEmptyMovieClip method to create them and then I need to attach some movieClips using attachMovie method and thay are uncompatibile... :/ what shuold I do to make this code work properly...

I am generating movieClips dynamically using attachMovie and then using a setInterval to animate them. However, if I repeat the operation the second set of mcs move twice as fast, the third set three times as fast etc. I can't for the life of me work out why.

scenario: user rolls over a button, "something_mc" covers the entire flash movie, but buttons underneath that "something_mc" are still active. how would i disable the buttons underneath until user rolls off of "something_mc" (and in doing so reactivates the buttons).looks like most search options here bring up when another .swf is loaded ontop of another. my situation is if everythings in the same movie.

I am really struggling, I have some buttons on layer 0 I then have a pop up box on layer 1 that covers the buttons. However the buttons are still active underneath.

I have a UIComponent that sits on top of a grid visually, which is also a UIComponent. The grid and the UIComponent that sits on top are on different branches. The gird has children which are Sprites. When the MousEvent.CLICK is dispatched it goes to the UIComponent on top. What I want it to do is go the element of the grid underneath. Is this possible?

Flash and Flex do a great job preloading themselves... however, they are big enough that they take forever to even get to that point... so the user on a slower connection sits and waits with a blank screen not knowing that the SWF is loading.
Is there a way to get an image "Loading..." underneath the Flash Object? I've tried it with a div background-image but it doesn't seem to work...

I have a movieClip that I use as a background which sits underneath two textFields that are dynamically generated... I have added MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER and MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT to that movieClip so that I can change the alpha value to fade in/out the background...
The problem is when you directly rollOver on top of the textField which prohibits the MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER happening on the background movieClip...I tried to set the selectable to false on those textFields, but that did not have any effect...

I would like to make a simple flash file where I have one image on top with multiple thumbnails underneath it. The only thing I need to do is get the main image to change to another when I click another thumbnail. The result would be a basic thumbnail driven image gallery.

I'm working a project where images expand 50px on roll_over and then retract on roll_out. On roll_over the images overlap and I use the setChildIndex to keep the target on top. This works fine. What I'm having issues with is the border that is displayed on roll_over. The first time I cycle through the images, everything works fine, after that only the image stays on top, the border slides underneath the other images. I looked up the Adobe 'setChildIndex' I'm afraid I don't understand the numChildren-1 thing.

I made a help screen that pops up when the user clicks the "help" button. To accomplish this, I place the movieclip on the top layer, and set it's _visible to false. When the user clicks "help", visible = true, and BAM, help screen appears. The problem is that all of the buttons underneath my helpPage movieclip are still clickable.

I'm triggering the appearance of a tooltip via MOUSE_OVER on a button and I'm finding it keeps getting triggered if I keep the mouse pointer over the tooltip. Both the tooltip and button are MovieClips
How can I prevent this?

What I'm trying to do is, create 5 or 7 movie items in a list and when you click on any of the items the items in the front will move to the back of the list.sort of like selecting a specific cd in a jukebox.So when you click on the 3rd item the first one in the front fades and shows up in the back, than the second item fades and comes back in the back and the 3rd item is now in the front.I think I can do it to 1st item in the front by changing the stack order but not sure how I can make the first 2 items move to the back.

I found this strange bug while coding, and wrote it in the simplest way to be sure it was true. Try opening a new AS3 FLA file, and write this code in the Actions Panel:

Calling someFunc will call a #1023 stack overflow error!The only way not to have it is to remove the "x3" Parameter. That'sso strange (and annoying, 'cause before realizing this was a bug i was getting crazy trying to find an error in my original code, which was much more complex).

I plan to develop some visualisations of the data, for the community of course, but I am wondering does anybody have any suggestions on how they would like to view or indeed interact with this data? I wonder if it's possible to take the filled colour (filled with myColor.setRGB(0x993366); like a colouring style) and set the colour filled to be a value of a variable in an if statement? if yes, anyone know how to do it?and is it possible to set a layer's content so that it does not block any button underneath it? I'm trying use that movie as a mask but I do not want it to block any activity underneath it. or is it better to use the myMovieClip .setMask (maskMovieClip)I only need the masking to appear when a specific button is pressed.

I've got a movie clip with masked-out areas. It's placed on top of various buttons.The idea is, the user rotates the top movie clip to reveal stationary buttons beneath it. Where there's a hole in the top movie clip, i'd like the user to be able to click the button revealed below.
It's looking like that's not possible. The buttons underneath cannot be activated, because the top movie clip is in the way, despite the transparency from the mask.
I'll begin thinking of a Plan B workaround, but first I wanted to ask if there's a way I'm not thinking of to do my Plan A.

I don't think "Chain" is the right word here. But this is my problem: I have a que of 1000 items that need to be downloaded. I use a loader with an event: Event.COMPLETE calls a function. This function creates a loader with an event which on Event.COMPLETE calls that function again ... etc. This has never been an issue. I never even knew it meant that it would all be stacked up in memory.On iOS this is proving to be an issue. At a certain maximum, it just tells me I've reached the limit. So at 500 I insert a Timer so that I can start calling these functions from "level 0 " again.

what i thought was a fairly straighforward loop to work correctly.i want to display 6 pictures (which are selected randomly from a group of 5) to stack on top of one another function executes without errors, but it only seems to work for the last image.I don't mind that the stacking images may repeat.[code]last line traces 6 times as "child # 6 is added"...
