ActionScript 2.0 :: Text Scroller When Reach Bottom: Remove "down" Button From Stage?
Dec 23, 2008
let's say i have a text scroller like this:what i need is when the scroller goes at the bottom and there is nothing else to show,with some trick to call a fuction so the "down" button disappear.i need this cause i made a scroller only with 2 buttons, and they don't look like broswer's scrollbar. (they are at the center up/down of the text scroller)
i have a UIScrollerBar on the Stage that attaches to a Dynamic Textbox named 'dTText' - I am filling dTText with "text " each time something is clicked and when the text fills past the bottom of the Textbox the scroller works fine, however:
When the scroller starts to grow as the content does, how can I have the scroller be snapped at the bottom?Eg: Similar to MSN / Chat services, as the messages go down the scoller grows but does not stay at the top, instead it goes to the bottom and you can scroll up to see your previous comments (this is what I would like).
I am building a full screen image gallery. I would like to have a thumbnail scroller menu at the bottom. As the user mouse overs a particular thumbnail, the image will appear fullscreen behind the thumbnail menu. I would like it so that the image appeared immediately as the user mouses over (i.e. the image is somehow already loaded in) as opposed to each image being loaded as the cursor is rolled over.
There are several images, so loading them all prior to running the application really isn;t an option. How could this be achieved? Are there any tips/tricks that can be used?
I'm having trouble with my scroller only scrolling when it gets to the bottom of the path. This is from the tut on this site http:[url]...Here is the actionscript I have for each mc:
I am using a scroller component within a custom skin for a SkinnableDataContainer. I am running into an issue in that the thumbbar of the scroller stops at about the 50% point, however this is actually the end of the scrollable area. In actuality, the thumbbar should be at the bottom of the scroll track. Here's the code for the scroller:

Trying to make a custom scroller which works but the odd thing is that when i drag the scroller to the bottom, the content scrolls the opposite way. So when the scroller is at its start point,the content is at its end point and when i scroll it to the end point the content reverses to the start point. Here is what I'm using
Code: var scrollLower:Number = -92; var scrollUpper:Number = 39; var textLower:Number = -92;[code]....
my problem is that if you go over the menu text above my scroller it controls the scroller. I wan this areas movement to have no effect on the scroller below. is there a way to script my scroller to set it to this?
I have been following all the wonderful tutorials in this forum to learn about AS and flash. This time I tried to combine 2 tutorials and make a text field with external loaded text and custom scroller button, but I failed.....
I tried to look for different tutorials to find the answer, but It didn't work out either...
I have a inventory that will hide/show itself whenever the mouse is over it. And inside "inventory", I have a couple of slots that should trace "Pres" whenever I click on them. Problem is, it doesn't. I think it has something to do with my inventory hide/show code because when I took it out, everything worked. Heres the code for the inventory:
I have a button on my stage its a movie clip I also have a symbol in my library that is also a movie clip with a small animation inside it. It is not the button.
I am trying to use the button to bring the symbol out of the library onto the stage then when I click the button again it will remove the symbol from the stage.
var loader:Loader = new Loader();loader.load(new URLRequest("gallery.swf"));loader.x = 20;loader.y = 75; gallery_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,addGallery); function addGallery(event:MouseEvent):void { addChild(loader);}
Fine up to here. I need to remove the loader when another button is clicked because the loader remains on stage.
I tried the code below (just used on 1 button for now but I have 5)
What i want to happen seems quite simple yet i keep getting the error "access of undefined property" when what i'm trying to remove is in fact defined in the same class but it obviously cannot gain access to it.
I want to remove a MovieClip from the stage once a button has been clicked.The MovieClip is created in the same class as my button function i created. The button works fine but whatever i try to put within the function to remove the MovieClip cause the error i mentioned at the start.
I have the following scenario:i have a MovieClip and I created a linkage for it named A.
[code]...
what is allowed? how can I resolve the issue ? update ok this is an exact scenario but a more simple one that I still wasn't able to resolve. The original scenario is that I have a MovieClip called user_bg_me that has a linkage named user_bg_me that extends user_bg_genericthat extends 'MovieClip` inside user_bg_generic class i want to be able to modify elements inside the movie clip itself. using super.element_name provides an error that the property isn't found.
I have decided to embed FLV movie files into my HTML page that I have rendered from After Effects.
I have noticed that there is a black 1px bottom border on my FLV movie on my webpage. The FLV fits perfect on the space I have left on my webpage and border is 0 everywhere. I have checked the After Effects original file and there is no accidental space or background errors that might be causing it.how to remove the black bottom border?
After deploying the Flex 4.5 Spark Scroller control to a Playbook, the default result is choppy/jittery scrolling and no spring at the top and bottom of the scrolling.
Is there a way to change this behavior to a normal smooth touch scrolling with start and end springiness?
Right now my stage dimensions are 980 X 800 px. I need to cut or "crop out" the bottom portion of the footer because its height is too long. So I changed the stage dimensions to 980 X 600 px (and changed the corresponding dimensions in the embed tag in the index.html file to match). Doing this seems to cut out the bottom but at the same time adds space to the top and seems to distort the overall spacing. Is there a simple way to crop out the bottom of the stage (just like cropping out a section of a photo)?
I'm making a game for children where they have to pay money by dragging it on a square. It al works wel only when i pick the first coin of one euro without going over the coin of 2 euro and then pick up a 2 euro coin the one euro disappears. after then it all works fine.i cant remove my duplicate euro's from the stage when i clic on pay here is my code for the euro's the euro's are in a emty movieclip
I have an input text box and a button. When you type specific words into the input box and then hit the button it sends you to a specific frame. What I want to do is essentially remove the button and only have to hit the enter key to submit my text and to move to the specified frame. Here is my current code that is placed on the main timeline, first frame:
[Code]...
I'm trying to just hit the enter key instead of having to click the submit button. I've been trying to get it working for the past couple of hours but haven't had any luck. My best guess is that the enter key isn't valid because it's an input box and may be confused with trying to create a new line (even though my input box is set to single line and not multiline). If so, is there any other way to do this?
I'm trying to create an effect such that if an object moves through the right of the stage, it pops out on the left, as if it was just continued on. heres my code so far if its needed
var positiony = 0; var positionx = 0; //------------------------------------------------------
The following code blocks create a movie clip 20px high and align it to the bottom of the stage (I add 100px to stageHeight because by default it traces 300 instead of 400). Regardless, both code blocks work when tested in Flash.In HTML however, only the first code block works.The second code block produces a blank HTML page. The second block is so that I can change the footer's height and still have it sit at the bottom of the stage...Considering "footerY" traces 380px, I have no idea how the two code blocks are so different that one HTML page makes the clip visible and the other doesn't.
Code: var footerHeight:uint = 20; // var footerY:uint = (stage.stageHeight + 100) - footerHeight; // trace(footerY);
I've attached some images for reference, but as I make my window larger the bottom of my stage gets cut off. I'm working off of a website template and am not particularly sure how the elastic function works. I've had some success changing the code to
Code: Stage.align = "T"; and Stage.scaleMode = "showAll";
but then there are just solid blocks on either side of the background image that don't look very good.
so the bottom will be locked in place and not get cut off when resizing the window.
I have a group of 6 buttons which on my stage sit in the center and are 20 pixels from the bottom, I am trying to create a bit of a liquid layout, and the browser is going to be able to resized by the user. I want always for the buttons to stay at the bottom in the center of the browser 20 pixels from the bottom no matter wether it is resized too
I'm trying to position an MC to the bottom ( that's the simple part ) of the stage that has an initial height and width of let us say 10px height and 30px width. Ok, and now i want to scale ( stretch ) and tween the MC at the same time until it gets to Stage.height. I'm not really sure about how to do this one, i tried using some conditions, some whiles but it seems that flash kinda crashes so that's not cool.
i want the whole MC to keep on resizing ( stretching and tweening again ) on stage resize... how to tween and scale the MC at the same time ( by tweening i mean just like like a motion tween but the only problem here is that the height would be dynamic ).
I have a navigation bar that I want to stay at the bottom of the stage at all times, and also resize based on the stages width ( - 100 ). I was originally using the Event.RESIZE event to do this, but I wasn't happy with it's feedback.. So I switched over to ENTER_FRAME. Basically, My first attempt, not sure if i'm on the right track. Right click to bring up fullscreen option in demo.
The problem is: I can center the stage at top or at bottom, but if it is centered at top, when the window is resized obviously the top will be quiet and the bottom of the page will get bigger/smaller.If it is centered at bottom, what will change is the top. how can I center at the middle, and on resize it changes the same top and bottom values ? Another question, is it possible when on resize at center to resize until X pixeis at top and then resizing only at bottom ?
Edit: Basically, I want the stage to be centered until X resolution, and then I want it to just 'grow' on the bottom and not on the top
