Why is when I trace my "xmldoc" object undefined after it's loaded successfully? I don't get it???

I can successfully trace out the movieclip instance name..Code: Select alltrace(regions[i].name);but if I try to use it in the following code to hide a movieclip Code: Select alluk.regions[i].name.turtleMc.visible = false;[code]
View 2 RepliesIs this possible? I need to add a Click event to a button (actually several) in a swf that I've loaded. Is this possible? I'm currently trying to trace the objects but getting nowhere.
View 5 Repliesi am currently workin on a flash website...
the following works perfectly fine
Code:
import flash.events.*;
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
[Code]....
how can i unload the current loaded swf when moving on to another frame?
var dane:Array = new Array();
dane_xml = new XML();
dane_xml.ignoreWhite = true;[code]....
and this last trace gives me undefined while trace(temp) gives me what I want
I am trying to learn how to use EventDispatcher. I create xml gallery where I am loading content via xml.In this particular case, I am not loading a sequence of multiple images. I load just one image. I traced the path to the image location and it is correct. I have a very hard time placing the loaded item to stage. I can trace EventDispatcher functions from EventDispather Class.When I do that, the trace statements confirm that the image is loaded. I am wondering what I should do in order to place the image on stage. I definitely cannot do it from EventDispatcher class directly or I am missing something.Below is my EventDispatcher class.find out about the correct technique to add the loaded item on stage after EventDispatcher was run. Below is the class of my EventDispatcher.
ActionScript Code:
package net.EvtDisp {
import flash.display.Bitmap;[code].....
mailObj = new LoadVars();
//send variables to ASP using POST
mailObj.sendAndLoad("sendmail.asp","this", "POST");
trace(mailObj.loaded);
why does this trace give me a undefined value?
[Code]....
I do not understand why i am getting undefined on the last trace.
Ive been trying to get this piece of code to work
[Code]..
But the trace always comes out to be undefined. Also, I have searched, and the basis for that code is (working) code from one of the results I found when I searched
I have a dynamic text box on my main time line with an instance name (NOT var name) of MCtxt. My textfiles have the variable of txtMC. I have a movie clip with a little ease bar on it. When the user mouses over the movie clip the ease bar goes to the mouse and, once it comes close to stopping, it triggers some AS to capture a number. Then I have a switch statement that does some stuff depending on the number.
So here is the code I have on that movie clip:
onClipEvent (enterFrame){
if (_global.stopped == true){
//trace(_global.j);
function textLoad(filename) {
loadText = new LoadVars();
[Code] .....
Tracing j returns the correct number and the _root.date.text works just fine. But the text is not loading and the trace on the success returns an undefined. I have tried moving all of the loading text code inside the case but it doesn't work there either. All variable names are correct (quadruple checked, at least) so it's gotta be something with my code.
I'm trying to trace the path of an object by using setPixel on the object's position every frame in a BitmapData/Bitmap pairing. These pixels aren't showing up normally and I suspect I have a fundamental misunderstanding of the BitmapData class. Here's what I'm doing:
public var contrailBase:BitmapData;
public var contrail:Bitmap;
private var contrailColor:uint;[code].....
Using this code, the red pixels don't show up. If I initialize contrailBase to 0xFF000000 instead then I get a black screen on which the red pixels DO draw, but I need the bitmap to be transparent except for the contrail. What am I doing wrong?
i have this class...
Code:
package com.Advertising {
public class AdvertisingBlock {
public var troot[code]......
I then want swfDisplayer to extend from AdvertisingBlock But because AdvertisingBlock expects stage,troot,constant, I have to use super in swfdisplay?? Does that sound right?? so something like....
Code:
package com.Advertising.Renders {
import com.Advertising.AdvertisingBlock;[code]....
when I trace advertObject from swfdisplay its empty... "undefined" But tracing from advertisingblock obviously shows it as being the object that was written to it.Is it because "supering" basically creates a new instance of advertblock? but one that you can access?What I have been doing in the past is just not extending at all and just creating a new instance of SwfDisplay that doesnt extend.
I loaded and then trace my _global variables for three screens and they follow me fine until,. then on the the screen i have tiny bit of code:
[Code]...
Could it be the level 99 I use. I tried using 0 and it did not work? I have tried doing this for way too long,
why doesn't this work?! first trace gives the correct coordinate, second one returns "undefined",
function create()
{
createEmptyMovieClip("holder", this.getNextHighestDepth());
holder.createEmptyMovieClip("mc_1", this.getNextHighestDepth());[code]....
we have this variable from the internet, val(0), in a dynamic text field we can see a digit from this variable. but when we use this variable in actionscript and test it with trace, the variable shows as undefined.how can we make this work without it coming up as undefined??
View 12 RepliesCan I trace the width of a loaded picture? I thought it would work something like this, but it won't work..
View 5 RepliesTrying to get a MovieClipLoader to work for me... This code is taken pretty much right from Macromedia's Help file. I get no error messages (yay), but I also get no trace statement (boo) or loaded clip (boo2). There *is* a clip named audioplayer.swf in the same directory as my file.
[Code]...
I'm not getting an error message when I publish my movie (CS4). I'm able to navigate to the end of the movie, so the nav bar and background image are there, but after a number of images and sound bites, other images don't appear nor do the associated sound bites play.I've removed lots of tween, which has helped some, but not enough. I've attached 2 examples. Example one is as it should be. Example 2 is what happens after several images. Attachments:example2.jpg(16.6 K)example1.jpg(39.2 K)

View 1 RepliesHas anyone successfully gotten swfaddress to work with IE8 and above?It seems that when using standards mode, swfaddress will appear to work fine in IE8 and IE9, however, once the user modifies the hashtag in the address bar, the history list becomes corrupted.In cases where the user starts the application via the hash tag url...), and then visits another hash (url...1), the history is never saved.I have tried playing around with swfaddress 2.5 in the svn repository. Interestingly, the code is similiar to JQuery Address (by the same author). I also note that JQuery Address suffers from the same problem.If I turn on compatibility mode in IE, the swfaddress and JQuery Address works perfectly. I have been looking into how compatiblilty mode works, and it does not seem like it would modify or affect javascript execution.Was anyone able to successfully solve this issue? If not are there any other deep linking libraries for flex or flash that contains all the feature sets of swfaddress?
View 1 RepliesHowever, digging through the SWFAddress forums (as well as their brief documentation), I'm left with the idea that a site must have a very linear navigation in order to take advantage of SWFAddress's deep linking feature. Basically, the Nav must be timeline based, rather than AS based.The site I've designed uses a very common dynamically loaded swf architecture. Does this mean that any site using this architecture will not support deep linking at allSome background on what I'm trying to achieve: I'd like a unique URL that links directly into a section of the Flash site. The 'section' of the site is reached by simply having the right swfs loaded into their container clips.

now i want to check which animal was chosen? [code]...
what do i write in the if brackets?
This includes some code and some traced output. I've been looking at this for 2 days and it stupifies me. I'll elaborate: There is a game object, its a dictionary object containing a screen tile with index/name tile_x_y So i can look it up using the x and y coords. The object contains lost of stuff but in this case especially: x, y , width, height, xtile, ytile (self explanatory i assume) & xmove, ymove (-1,0,1 depending on direction.)
So, now these objects move around the screen (yes its just a game) and check if they hit the screen bounds and if they try to move onto tiles that are occupied/non traversable. It goes fine for most objects but sometimes, or for some objects (no clue why and it changes on restart), halfway the boundaries check, the object internal x and y values go ballistic and i end up with a reference error on the dictionary object because tile 280 30 just doesnt exist.

I'm trying to get my head around optimising AS3 code and clearing things out for garbage collection.
I understand that each time an item is referred to in the code it has its reference count increased by one, so I was wondering if there is a trace option I can use to see how many references each of my objects has?
I can then see where things are getting left behind (if they are) and where I can make optimise better.
I think it would help me work out several issues if I was able to do this
Successfully imported target swf and put into stage, when I publish this I see target swf is playing.
import flash.display.MovieClip;
var BGLoader:Loader = new Loader();
var BGurl:URLRequest = new URLRequest("HomeBG.swf");
[Code].....
I've been scouring the internet for the past hour or so in search of how to do this. It's very simple, but every example seem to want me to bring a loaded movie clip, or trace mouse position. I don't need that! Basically I have a button that when clicked comes to the front (using behaviours), moves to a new position, scales and then I want every other button behind it to blur. Obviously I want them to blur gradually to keep the flow going. Here's my current code so you can see where its going:

In firefox everything works just fine, but in IE it doesn't. I tried several things but just cant get it to work. In the beginning I also had the error; swfobject is undefined - saying I had something wrong with the javascript thing. I think I fixed that now, but still the movie is not getting loaded.If I go to the page and push the right mouse button (middle of the page) it say: movie not loaded.
