I have a dynamic text field with scrollbar buttons that work in Firefox, chrome and safari but not IE8. I wish I could forget about IE8 but it's not possible yet. The following code is being used.

I have a movie clip that loads thumbnails from images folder by reading the location of image from xml file...The problem is I have put up a scroll bar but its not working i.e its not scrolling the thumbnails' movie clip contents. I am uploading the fla...any line of code I need to change I think its the scrolling function. The scrolling script I used is from kirupa. I don't want to use classes in this...and want the up n down buttons to remain.

trying to modify the custom scrollbar that is in the tutorial section, it works nice, but i need to scroll the contentMain with the up and down arrow keys also, i think it needs a listener event, but is a kind of tricky for me.The complete code that is in the tutorial exactly is this...

i have created some 6 -10 buttons and i want to keep these list of buttons in the scrollbar. so that a user can view only a set of 4-5 buttons at a time.i tried out the kirupa-scrollbar but when the masking is done on set of buttons all the buttons are under mask and i am unable to click any of those .i tried the UIscrollbar component, it works for the text area but not for the buttons
View 2 RepliesI recently purchased a scrollbar from the exchange marketplace and it works beautifully within it's own swf but as soon as I load it into a second swf (the main "start movie") it doesn't work. When I click on it to scroll, the tracker sticks to my pointer (like a mouse follower) and won't release until I click on a button leading me into another movie. The scrollbar component came with an external caurina file which is where I think the issue is coming from. I think it's having trouble finding the associated code when inside the second movie. I've tried all sorts of parent vs root scripts to try and get it to jump a level to recognize the source of the original code.
View 5 RepliesI've got a List component set up but some of the text exceeds the space available and so I'm trying to add a horizontal scrollbar as well as the vertical one.In the component inspector I've set the horizontal to "on" and given it a width of 200 (my component has a width of 150).However, it cannot be scrolled and I get this error message: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at AWorkingFile1_fla:: Main Timeline/baseData()Is it actually possible to get the scroll bar to work?
View 2 Repliesso I tried getting this custom scrollbar to work, but the bounds must be screwed up.Whenever I click on the scroller, it shoots halfway down the screen...it then thinks that the middle of the screen is the top bound and the bottom of the screen is the lower bound

I'm coding a horizontal scrollbar that will contain several movieclips. The scrollbar has a few ways to scroll through it, a traditional scrollbar (scrubber & track), a next and a previous button that will scroll from clip to clip, and finally clicking on the scrollbar track to go to that point. However the bar doesn't full scroll back to it's original start point and at the opposite end it scrolls a little too much past the end of the clip. The same with the next and previous buttons you click the previous button it comes up just short of the original start point and the next button goes just a little further then it should. I cant seem to figure out whats wrong with it. I realized this is kind of a hard problem to explain so I attached an fla file (CS3 & CS4).

View 2 RepliesI am trying to connect dynamic text to scrollbar and buttons. I did tutorial and Lynda.com and practically pasted the code in with my file names and for some reason it does not work. It says I have a "Access of Undefined Property mask_mc" Did I need to create a variable for this? I didn't in the tutorial.
Right now I have the dynamic text loading successfuly in 2 different places and I wantd to add the scrollbar. I put the variables on frame 1 code and then I put the actually load code on the frame where it is needed.

I have a file where I am importing dynamic text with buttons and a scrollbar. Everything pulls in and is working fine except... I have one document where the dynamic text that is pulled in is short and really doesn't need to scroll. It appears fine but say you click one of the buttons or scrollbar by accident or curiosity. The movie just starts vibrating... it doesn't like thst the text is short. I don't want to take the stuff out because the info will always change and some days it may need buttons soma days not.

im working on a zoom/pan gallery and i have a problem that i can't solve.URL...the pan buttons are not working but the zoom and reset buttons works. im working on movie the image using the mouse now, if you will hold the image and move it it will drag it on stage.the image is a loader the loads and image and placed on screen.there is a mask on top of it and a frame that indicates the size of the gallery.when the user pan the image loader content i want it to stop as soon as it gets to the gallery frame,but i cant seem to find the best way to do it.so basicly when the image is in 100% i dont want the user to be able to drag it but after you zoom the user will be able to drag it but only to the edge of the frame so there wont be any white spaces.i tried a lot of different ways to do it but all of them are complicated and not working the way that i want them to work.

View 3 RepliesI have three buttons and when I click the second one, the first stops working (e.g. no trace event and it won't go back to the frame "tab1") but the third still works. Then when I press the third button both the first and second no longer work. If I take out the gotoAndStop lines, the buttons work fine. The subsequent frames simply have stops on them.

K so i started this flash site and made buttons that open little sliders underneath them that load subcategory's. the problem is i cant get the buttons on the little slider to load a external swf file in a loader on my flash .

I've created a movieclip of a trashcan, which falls over and 6 items fall out of it. I want each of these items to become a button, which will jump to a different point on the timeline.
The movieclip is all working fine, and the buttons appear to be fine. The problem is when I publish the flash, the movieclip resets each time I hover over one of the buttons, so i get an endless loop of this trashcan falling over and the items falling out.
the buttons within my submenue movie clip don't work. the one's not within a submenu work fine. my code validates and i'm not getting any errors what else i should be checking?

I am having problems with buttons stopping to work after i have added some actionscript elsewhere in my timeline. I have a buttons layer which runs across the entire timeline which consists of a Next, Back, Menu and Support button, which all work fine as long as i dont go through the following script on one of the frames.[code]The Submit button has a different instance name than all my other buttons so i am at a loss as to why this has any effect on them.

I am migrating from AS2 to AS3 and realize the button functionality is totally different. I have a website with buttons that have submenus. I have the first layer of buttons working. They have eventListeners attached that take them to a labeled frame on the timeline. When you get to that labeled frame there is a submenu of buttons there. I tried putting the code for those buttons in the same script on frame 1 but it messes up the movie.
I think it has something to do with the buttons not actually being there on frame 1 when the script is read. I cannot figure out where to put the script for the submenu buttons to make them work. I think I have to put a parent type script in there. Sorry I dont even know what to look up.

I've got a movieclip which contains 4 buttons and 4 labels.
The buttons work but once you've been past a label it won't go back to a previous label so it's just linear.
I'm using the following coding:
Buttons: arrow1, arrow2, arrow3, arrow4. And the labels are the same for each.
