View 5 RepliesI'm trying to populate a scroll pane dynamically with a moveclip but it isn't working. I can add an image with loadMovie, but attachMove isn't doing anything. The same thing works to a moveclip manually added to the workspace, but not on my dynamic scroll page.

I am working on a project at work that will be a data driven, county-by-county map of the United States. We have received a FLA file with all of the counties (3000+ of them) demarcated and placed properly. In addition each county is a unique movieclip in the library, with a unique library name. However, the instances on the stage have no name at all. In order to reference an instance it has to have a unique name, but I do not want to have to go through and name them all by hand as this could take me weeks. The names they have in the library are meaningful numbers (FIPS codes) and if I could just name each instance with the name it has in the library (since there are only one of each library movie clip in the stage) that would be great.

I can almost emulate this, but sometimes my boxes will overlap, and that's a dealbreaker. If I start hitTesting it works up until I try it with 55+ movieclips, then I fear that the script could freeze. Here's the code that works, but may freeze at times. How can I optimize this so that stack overflow errors can't happen?

I have a list of radio buttons, which I want to be able to both set the value of programmatically and for the user to set the value of manually.I have a small list of data items which I want to display as options in a list of radio buttons. The objects are stored in a model object, as is the currently selected item. The currently selected item is bound to the radiobutton group. The radio buttons are generated using a spark list.
I am having a problem setting the list programatically - whenever I set the current value on the radiobutton group to the first value in the list, all of the radio buttons are cleared, where the first one should be selected. I when checking in the debugger, I found the likely reason - there are two radiobuttons in the group that point to the same value, one of which isn't showing. My best guess is that the list control has created an extra item renderer which it is holding on to in case it needs to scroll the list.
Is there a way to create radioButtons based on an ArrayCollection without using a list? Failing that, is it possible to prevent the list from generating the extra item?
I am generating movieClips dynamically using attachMovie and then using a setInterval to animate them. However, if I repeat the operation the second set of mcs move twice as fast, the third set three times as fast etc. I can't for the life of me work out why.

I cannot display the scrollbar in a TLFTextFiled. I tried with both ways:
1. TLFT.controller.verticalScrollPolicy='ON' TLFT.textFlow.flowComposer.updateAllControllers();
2. var scrollBar:UIScrollBar=new UIScrollBar(); scrollBar.scrollTarget =TLFT;
The first one doesn't work and doesn't show any error. The second one gives compile error because scrollTarget can be TextField only (that's strange because in the documentation scrollTarget is DisplayObject)
I've made classes to manage scrollers, scrollbuttons, sliders/scrollbars & co. All fine. Now I'd like to have my scrollbars to dynamically adapt to the scollbox's content height (or width). Just like the browser scrollbars (or more in general, ordinary applications). Do you maybe know what's the right path to follow to do it? How can I determine for example, the min and max height that my scrollbar can reach?

i have created some 6 -10 buttons and i want to keep these list of buttons in the scrollbar. so that a user can view only a set of 4-5 buttons at a time.i tried out the kirupa-scrollbar but when the masking is done on set of buttons all the buttons are under mask and i am unable to click any of those .i tried the UIscrollbar component, it works for the text area but not for the buttons

I'm having trouble getting my scrollbar to work with dynamically loaded movies inside the movie the scrollbar is attached to. An example of my working scrollbar code with static data and my broken scrollbar with dynamic data can be found on a nice webpage I made, but I cannot post a proper link: www cryhavocguild com/actionscript php. Make sure to include the www as my flash file will only load the data with it (another problem). I have a for loop that pulls data from my database, populates a topMovie(contentMain) with 20 subMovies inside it. My scrollbar is attached to topMovie. Once the data is loaded and the topMovie is populated, the scrollFace(not ScrollTrack) dissapears and the dynamic movie is not scrollable. As a test, I populated the topMovie with graphic boxes and no dynamic movies and it scrolls just fine.

If I try to load some thing dynamically into the main MovieClip, it works but the scrollbar doesn't works properly, it doesn't noticed that the height from main has changed.
I'd like to scroll (with ease) my masked movie clip up/down with buttons. I do not want to use a scroll bar.

Like in my case i m using tileList inside tabNavigator , when I put contents inside the tileList, the height of tileList does not increase beyond vertical height of the viewport. It puts scrollbar on the container. I want to increase the height of an flex container with increase in the contents and introduce scrollbar on the browser with increase in contents in the flex container.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to connect dynamic text to scrollbar and buttons. I did tutorial and Lynda.com and practically pasted the code in with my file names and for some reason it does not work. It says I have a "Access of Undefined Property mask_mc" Did I need to create a variable for this? I didn't in the tutorial.
Right now I have the dynamic text loading successfuly in 2 different places and I wantd to add the scrollbar. I put the variables on frame 1 code and then I put the actually load code on the frame where it is needed.

I have a file where I am importing dynamic text with buttons and a scrollbar. Everything pulls in and is working fine except... I have one document where the dynamic text that is pulled in is short and really doesn't need to scroll. It appears fine but say you click one of the buttons or scrollbar by accident or curiosity. The movie just starts vibrating... it doesn't like thst the text is short. I don't want to take the stuff out because the info will always change and some days it may need buttons soma days not.

I need to create a scrollable list of buttons. Only vertical scrolling is enough. The main thing is that, the buttons and scroll bar should be custom drawn. One and two dimension of button layout support is needed.
