When using dynamic text, and loading in text from an xml. How do you get the Dynamic text box to automatically adjust (height) to the length of the text?

Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:

Right now I'm us Flash CS4 and creating a flash program in AS3. After a certain frame the dynamic text boxes that I have set up refuse to display text when required. I've gone over every line of code and every possible set up and I can't understand why it will not work. I've made sure all the dynamic text boxes have the instance names properly in place naming them all "talkBox". I've made sure all the code is written properly talkBox.text = "Insert Text Here!" There should be absolutely no reason in the world why the dynamic text boxes shouldn't be working.
View 1 RepliesA have a big chunk of dynamic text (from a db). From this text i am making a .pdf. So i would like to limit the amount of outputted text as a page can run out of space.
I have tried to do it with search and replace. But the problem is that it counts only characters instead of characters in combination with whitespace and the number of lines.
There is space for 100 characters/spaces on each line, and a total of 38 lines on one page.
So i am thinking of something like this: * count all new lines represented by
* count all characters/whitespaces dived to the number of lines to check if this fits the number of (as it uses wordwap)
Anyone with bright ideas on how to approach this?
(btw. TextField.maxChars will not work as it's dynamic text...)
I dowloaded and played with the following scroller on this site... [URL] I see where the text is under Actions but I'm wondering if I can input hyperlinks and email links as well or will I only be able to use this with plain text. If formatting and links are allowed, how can I input the text to show as a link. Sorry, I don't know much about flash and just trying to make a simple text box with scrolling capability that will allow hyperlinks, bold, etc...

1) after 1st entering, NONE of present input fields[TF] is selected.
2) when i press TAB key[1st time], first TF is selected and cursor inside it is blinking.
3) pressing TAB key repeatedly, i can cycle through all TFs [one by one]. The RIGHT order of CYCLING through TFs is displayed inside TFs.
What i have so far:
1) TAB key press works ONLY AFTER i first click on any TF, TFs are cycled in BAD order. Cursor is blinking correctly.
2) implemented Key.DOWN listener. Works without need to first click on any TF, but cursor inside selected TF is missing which makes orientation difficult. TFs are cycled in the RIGHT order.

I am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.

Everything looks in order, all the variables are correct, the input text box is set to input - it just wont let you write in it. I even went into a blank project, created a rudimentary setup, with an input text box one frame and a button, with the simple script:

Setup a button that moved to the frame with the designated output dynamic text box, tested it, it worked. So I tried moving the input box to the program - will not work.... It does the same thing, cannot type in it. I tried moving the text box to a different frame, used the simpler script to output, made no difference.
Is it possible using actionscript to convert a text box into Input text once it has already been set as either dynamic/static text in the 'text box properties' dialog?[code]...
