It makes mcGrass1 disappear, but not the event listener. When I touch the area where it was, it still goes to the screen "math". [URL] That is the location of my .fla
I have a movie created that is broken down into sections on the timeline (home about contact etc) Each section has a movieclip I want to be able to be in the about movieclip and click a button that will bring you back to the main timeline contact section Heres is the actionscript I am using to navigate the main timeline for each section stop();
//handle events for buttons... index.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickSection); about.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickSection); wind.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickSection);
I have a btn within a Movieclip at a certain keyframe the user is asked if they want to go back to make another selection from a choice category (within the maintimeline)
As of now the code I have for the btn that jumps you back to the main timeline is:
I have some submenu buttons in a movieclip on the mainline. My first level of navigation in on main timeline. The submenus are grouped in movieclips on the main timeline. I basically used the same code on the main navigation for the sub navigation except the code for the submenus is in that movie clip. My trace statement reads the button is clicked (which was a quantum leap for me) but I know I need some kind of _parent code in there so it knows to go to label back on main timeline. I feel like I am so close.
Also is this an ok way to set this up? I couldn't figure out how to do it in one frame. I didn't realize this basic framework was going to be so difficult.
I can get my menu buttons to move me around the timeline, but am at a loss as to how to move to a frame on the main timeline using a button within a movieclip that has it's own timeline.
So what I mean is that on the mian timeline, a movieclip graphic with a button in it drops down. This movieclip has it's own timeline, and any AS to control the button has to be in this timeline. So how do I tell it 'when the button is clicked, go BACK to frame X on the MAIN timeline?
Here's the AS on the main timeline for the menu buttons (how would I adapt it to apply to buttonX within movieclipZ?, and where would I put this extra code in my movie?):
function Nav(event:MouseEvent):void { trace("Nav "+arguments) switch(event.target.name){ case "gilbert": gotoAndPlay(72); break;

I have a project (see attached) where I need to have the folders seem like they are floating in space, and I need the best way to make it so when you click on a back folder, it slides off the screen and come back in front of all the folders.
i found a script that unloads my external swf inside a movieclip when i click a button on my main screen. this script causes the external flash inside my moviclip to close and unload when i click the close button, which is what i want!. the only pain in the butt is it preloads the external flash when you go the flash site and i dont want that. i only want the script to close the external swf. if anyone is curious book.swf is the swf in the movieclip i am trying to close.[code]
I want to make a box come from off screen then bounce back and forth and then come settled down in the middle of the screen. It can be random bouning intervels or a set amount.
I don't understand how it's possible to have a lot of objects on the stage and be able to manage the motion tweens with all of them, but ALSO manage which objects are in front and which are in back of each other. I have a military type animation and there is a lot of action going on, and there are times where I need some of my guys to be in front of objects, and times when they need to be behind.
I don't know how to manage the objects in regards to layers and motions in a way so I can get the objects in the order I need them to be (like which item goes in front of the other).
Does anyone have any tips or a way that I can manage my objects and motions and be able to sort them on the stage so that I can arrange the objects how I need them to be in regards to placement and which should be in front of other objects?
I am working on a website where I have some movieclips on the stage scattered. Some overlapping each other. Now when I move my mouse over any movieclip, I want the movieclips around it to move away from it and when I rollout they should get back in place. An example of this can bee seen on [URL].
[URL] I need to know the script they have used for the 'when , how' buttons. I know its controlling movie clips using buttons. How do the buttons come back to original place?
Maybe it sounds really stupid.. but I really dont have any idea how to place 3 classfiles named: Tower_Fire, Tower_Ice and Tower_Lightning into the main file:GameController.as They're all the same, but I want to link them when I'm currently placing a tower. So as example, if I call Tower_Lightning.. that you can place the Tower_Lightning on the placing(spawn) where you want.However, with those 3 class files it's working, but I really want to put them all 3 in the main file instead.Tower_Fire.as:
im using cairnform framework as3 and i have a single swf file, and i m searching a while for back button to go back a previous screen with all data's which r there previously.
I imagine that the solution lies in readjusting _root for the fact that the external .swf is now placed inside a parent, but I don't know how to do that.
I am fairly new to flash and I have been trying to make a product demo. Basically I want some text to fade in and then some pictures to show up one by one and then disappear and then some new text fades in etc. This is to talk about a product and show various parts of it as the text on the screen is discussing those parts of the product. My question is what the preferred way of doing this is. Here are the options I can think of.
Approach 1) Put all animation in the main timeline. All text tweens take place on frames in the main timeline. Approach 2) Put the text fade-in tweens in a movie clip and put that on the main timeline.
I have tried both these approaches but neither one has been working for me for the following reason.
Approach 1) Makes timeline very long and unwieldy. If one thing changes, it shifts everything over and messes up my whole timeline. Hard to manage. Approach 2) If I have a stop(); on the main timeline, my animation stops in mid fade. In cases where I don't have a stop, I can't figure out how to do a series of objects fading in one after another. Is there a way to check if a movieclip has finished and only go to the next frame if it has finished? How do I get a series of clips to play one after another when I am running them as seperate movieclips off the main timeline.
Can I place all of my .fla AS3 code in a class called main.as?I dont want to run my as3 project from the .fla but how do I start the main.as?my .fla file looks like this and I dont know how to put this into a class?Do I simply do this in line 1 of fla file?
var mymain:main=new main();
Code:
var noLoaded:int; noLoaded=0; var li2:ClassImg6= new ClassImg6(); li2.addEventListener("image_loaded",imageLoadedHandler);
I'm trying to make a movieclip move slower at a certent place in my movieclip. This means, that the speed needs to be lowered when e.g. showing af picture. Here is the situation. I have a movieclip running different pictures. E.g. the first runs for 115frames and fades out. Instead of runing 115 frames i want the movieclip to run 5 frames (picture fading in) and the stops or delays for 10sek and then goes to frame 6 from where the picture fades out. Where in the movieclip should i place this Action Script?
I want to make a menu with 6 buttons and each of them to load a specific swf file. The problem is that I can only manage to make it so that it loads the final swf file no matter what button I press. This is the script I have so far:
I recently started creating a flash website from a template that was created back in 2004. I have very little knowledge of either AS 2.0 or AS 3.0. I am currently attempting to link my buttons that are in separate movieclips back to specific parts of the main timeline "scene 1". Currently when clicked, the buttons just cycle through the varying pages that have been created, "s1" , "s2" etc.
How do I link a movieclip/button back to "s8" in the main timeline?The AS 2.0(I think it's AS 2.0 anyway) that currently exists is as follows:
PHP Code:
on (rollOver) { gotoAndPlay(2); }
[code]....
I understand what first rollOver and rollOut commands are and they work fine, but the "On (release)" doesn't seem to go where it needs to.
I have a main swf file called index.swf and 3 games files called game1.swf game2.swf and game3.swf respectively.The main.swf is done is AS2 while the games are in AS3.I have 3 buttons on the main.swf,each will load the game out on a new layer...this is the code I used... btn1.onRelease = function(){
it didn't work. Apparently this code doesn't function in AS3.All the games are in a subcontent folder.Index file will call them out on a new layer...and the back button in those games must be able to go back to the index.swf.
i have a button and i would like to send the user back to the main timeline once click using on (release) does anyone know what code it is to send it back to the main timeline?

I have 4 images (image_1, image_2, image_3,and image_4,) I want for the them to scroll like a slide show from left to right one after another but extremely slow, and to place another layer to show text and stuff
I have 2 sounds that i would like to play. Sound 1 and sound 2. I want to make sound 1 to play only once and after it stops i want to make sound2 to play continuously. You know what I mean? I have 2 different sounds, lets just say sound 1 says blah blah blah and blah and after it stops I want to play sound 2. My sound 1 is longer then sound 2 so I need to make sure that sound 1 finishes playing and after it stops then to make sound 2 to play.
In AS2 when I had a button on an external page swf that was loaded into the main website swf and I wanted that button to go back to the main website swf main time line and change to a specific frame I just used ...
Code: _root.gotoAndPlay("$/pmp/engine/"); ...in the button's release code. How do I do that in AS3? I guess I just need to know how to get to the main swf since root refers to the external page swf's main timeline. Garrr this is annoying. My structure is this:
main.swf's main time line has a button. Click that button, it loads preloaderpmp.swf into a blank movie frame with the instance name container. preloaderpmp.swf loads pmp.swf in. In pmp.swf's main timeline there is a movie clip inside a movie clip which contains a button that I want link back to main.swf and go to the frame "$/pmp/engine/" once it is released. What can I replace _root with since this is AS3?
