ActionScript 3.0 :: Background Sound Not Playing In Embedded File

I've got a game I made just to play with AS3. But I'm having an issue with the sound. Playing the swf file will play the sound, but when embedded I hear nothing. The code for calling the sound:
I have a sound clip that I'm loading externally into my flash file. The code I'm using looks like this and is placed in the as layer on the first frame,

I have a simple MP3 file that I am attaching from a library and playing using Sound object.When testing SWF on it's own, it works fine, but I have to embed the SWF into another SWF (container) using loadMovie, AND, the sound not playing??? What can be wrong?

I am developing a cd presentation for someone. It has audio, video, images, text embedded in it.Client doesn't want external data which can be easily accessed & copied. He wants all data should be in the exe itself.Now, when i embed video in it, sound keeps on playing in the background and even overlaps.I am attaching link to my .fla file.
does anybody know how to stop background sound when clicking play button for a video and when the video is finish how to turn background sound again on?
How do I get a sound to play throughout the entire flash site in the background? Go to [URL] and you will see what I mean. Its a great site by the way! In this "crucial limit" site, he has tunes playing in the background, and they keep playing despite how deep you navigate through the site, no matter what button you press, the song continues to play without stopping. I have embedded an automatic slideshow as a swf file into a website I'm designing for my parents. When I test the swf file, it performs exactly as expected but when I embed it into the html, it just sits there and doesn't run/animate/whatever.
The slideshow (should) automatically run through a group of 7 photos, with a fade transition and was all done with actionscript, loading the external jpeg files into alternate movieclip containers etc etc.

I've been sent a FLA with some voice overs in and need to edit a few words out. The original MP3 files are not available so how I can edit the voice overs in flash without the original mp3 files?
I have a problem that I have not found a syntax error or logic error to explain. It appears to be an obscure problem related to playing a sound file and graphic positioning in the same file. My next step is to look for any known bugs. I have posted the file at. URL] When the page loads you will see a list of selections. Do not click any of the html Play buttons In the graphic arrow pointing to the right is the play button click it and a default file will start. Click the pause button (which will be green while the selection plays) Then click the play button again. The knob that moves while the song plays, will begin moving from the position it was at the time pause was clicked.
Click the stop button (arrow facing left with vertical line at tip) Choose a selection from the html list by clicking the Play button next to it. Then click the play button in the player display. The title of selection will appear in the title area. repeat the original steps (play, pause, play) This time the knob that moves while song plays, snaps back to the start and moves from start, rather than from the pausedposition.
I am trying to get my flv file to start playing when the page is loaded with no sound, but I am have no luck. The flv file starts playing fine with the sound on, and I can turn the sound off with my volume controller, but I need it to start playing with no sound.[code]...
can I de-crpypt a streaming file, (assuming that i encrpyting this file on the server side during upload) , in flex before it being processed for playing.

Is there a way in AS3 to determine if a loaded sound file is still playing or not? I need to start an animation when a sound starts and stop the animation when the sound is done playing.
I have a problem with sounds in this movie. I have a sounds file that I would like to play as soon as the movie is loaded, but I dont want it to stream because I want to loop it and I want it to be done with AS. I saw a Tutorial where the sound would load as soon as the movie started but it wouldn't play until the play button was pressed. I want the song to play as soon as the sound is loaded. I am currently designing an interactive magazine through flash and was wondering if there is any way that the user of the magazine upon opening it can be prompted to record their name and then have that voice recording played back when they perform certain actions while interacting with the magazine?
does anybody maybe know how to track/trace the current position of a sound file while it is playing?So that it is updated every frame or second?I figured something with trace(sound.position) onEnterFrame, but didn't succeed in realizing this yet.
I am creating a game that has 6 movieclips all on the main time line of the game. Each movie clip has three buttons that when clicked plays, pauses or stops a sound clip.When I press any of the sound clip play buttons that sound starts playing, the problem is when I click any of the other sound clip play buttons those sounds also start to play. Is there a way I can disable the other sound clip buttons while the current sound is playing then enable all of the buttons when the current sound has stopped.

So I made a few buttons with sounds within them and when I publish it they work just fine. But what I want them to do is;
Say I click a Button.The sound starts playing.Then I click it again, before the sounds done playing.I want it to stop the playing sound and start playing the button I just clicked on, whether it be the same button, or a different one.Right now it just ends up sounds like an echo because it'll play it as many times as you click it.
I have a bit of a problem with sound.. I have a main container animation with background sound that's loaded with soundChannel..I also have an externally loaded SWFs with Movie Clip buttons that have a sound ON ROLLOVER on the timeline..after rolling off - I place the:SoundMixer.stopAll();to stop the button from playing the sound once the mouse is rolled off.. I'm trying to play a sound using a technique found here (play the sound by sampling raw sound data gathered from the original with extract()), with the difference that the mp3 sound is embedded in the swf, not loaded externally. This is my code:

This works, in a way, except that the resulting sound is distorted (it has a kind of a metallic ring).
I am loading small sounds dynamically with the loadSound command. These small sounds are activated with a rollover. see script below. This works ok. however. i want the first sound to keep playing while the rollovers load sound. a bit like playing the piano. This works ok when i import all the sounds into the library and place them on their very own button. however the size of the flash movie increases to 140k. whereas when i load them dynamically the size of the movie is 20k. obviously i want to load dynamically.
But with dynamic loading each sound stops when another sound is rolled over, so that there is only ever one sound playing at once. I need to load the sound into a different level or something, so that the first sound can keep going while the smaller, shorter sounds play over the top. this is my script below. The first sound loads when the movie starts. This is the one i want to keep playing. Then there are the smaller ones with rollovers. does this make any sense? there's actually 13 little sounds.
ok so i have a button that plays an animation for fire when held down. and when realsed goes to and stops and frame one. when it reaches the end of the time line it goes to and plays at frame 10 and goes back to the end of the timeline. I have a sound for the fire animation that plays for the effect. The problem is the sound keeps going untill its over even if the button isnt held down. and when the playhead reaches the end of the timeline it goes to and plays and frame 10 and it replays the sound. if i hold it down it will just keep playing the sound over and over from start to finish. what i want it to do it when i hold the button down i want it to play the sound and when released it stops the sound where ever it is at. I also dont the sound to play again if there is a sound already going to stop it from playing 20 sounds at one time it gets loud and you need asprin after about 5 seconds of that.
I have completed my website with several sections Home, competition, prizes, sponsors, gallery, enter, contact us.Each section is labelled on the main time frame and then there are movies within that with the content for each section.Everything was working fine until I decided that I was going to import some FLV files to use within my home section.There are seven of them and they are each 12 seconds long with audio. I imported them in to a movie clip called santa_intro_movie with structure like thisScene 1 - Home_BG - santa_intro_movie > and each imported flv sits within it's own movieclip named snta_click-001 etc up to 007 all on different frames of the santa_intro_movie and controlled by buttons.
When I test the movie it works great....except when i try and navigate to other sections of the website, when i click on my main buttons at the top for some reason the audio from all of the FLV's start playing at once and any tweens or animations that I have on those other pages start going in to hyperdrive!!!I have checked through my actionscript and I just can't figure it out.
I have to play a sound file and show the progress of the sound file being played. I am using import flash.media.Sound; import flash.media.SoundChannel; But the PROGRESS event gives theprogress of loading of file. I want to know of much of the song has been played and how much more is left.
I am trying to embed some sound controls, and have hit a dead end. I made my play and stop buttons, imported my mp3,, assigned it proper linkage, and inserted this AS2 :

The buttons are named "play_btn" and "stop_btn" respectively. When I export it or preview it, hitting the play button does not do anything.... I hear no sound. What could be up with this?
I may not have the correct terminology and such, but I have a simple symbol that plays, and then I have a timeline within that symbol that I want to play right after that. I named the embedded timeline/frame "trailer" so I used the action
gotoAndPlay("trailer");
this works if the named frame is in the main timeline, but it doesn't seem to be able to access the timeline within the symbol. Is there a different command I could use? Or am I doing something wrong?
I am using swfin to embed a swf object (video player) and it loads fine in all browsers, but in firefox it won't "start".I have to right click on the movie area and "start" is unchecked so I click on "start" and it will start just fine. Yet, in chrome and IE (haven't moved to a mac for testing yet) it fires up and starts just as I expected. I have tried swfobject instead of swfin and I have IE issues that I couldn't seem to correct. I am embedding an mp3 into my Flex project for use as a sound effect, but I am finding that every time I play it, there is a delay of about half a second from when I call .play() to when you can hear the sound. This makes it weird because I want the sound effects to sync to game events. My mp3 itself is only about a fifth of a second long so it isn't because of the contents of the mp3.
I'm embedding with

I know there's a delay because the sound plays about a half second after the Alert displays. I did consider that maybe it was the initial loading time of constructing the TockSound, but the delay is there on all the subsequent calls as well.
How can I avoid this delay on playing a sound?
Update: It turns out this delay is only present when playing the swf on Linux. I believe it is a Linux-specific flaw in Adobe's flash player.
