ActionScript 3.0 :: Browser Specific Regional Keyboard Layouts?
Sep 25, 2009
I have an odd one;If I run my app in FF, then @ is given by Shift+2 (as per US keyboard layout).If I run my app in IE, then @ is given by Shift+' (as per UK keyboard layout).My keyboard is set to UK layout.
I'm trying to get my main class to resize to the browser window size. I'm listening on the stage to Event.RESIZE, updating my width/height to match the stageWidth/stageHeight, and drawing a rectangle to show me how big it is. When I resize, it flashes between a small and big size every other time the event fires. The width and height are correct in both cases, but in the "small" case, everything is in a small box.
capturing any of the keyboard combinations below in the Flash Player. I am building this as a stand alone .swf file, so there won't be any conflicts with a internet browser, though my concern is reserved operating system shortcut keys.
Me and some friends here at school (hyper island) has got an assignment to make a flashgame.Now we have some problems. We want to assign a button on the keyboard to a specific player. Something like this "Player 1 choose your button" and so on.
Is there a reason why a keyboard event listener would not work if the flash is embedded in an HTML? The rest of my game is running fine in the background, but I can't launch the movieClip "nextCar." My code is below, if that makes any difference...
function goNow (event:KeyboardEvent): void { thisOtherKey = event.keyCode; if (thisOtherKey == 32) { nextCar.gotoAndPlay(2); parkingQue.play(); tries++; }}stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, goNow);
difference between key code and character code. For example, the number 1 (one) and the character ! (bang) both have the same key code but different character codes. Likewise, the number 7 from the row of numbers and the number 7 from the numpad have different key codes but the same character codes.
I'm programming a music rhythm game in Adobe Flex and would like to bind keyboard keys. This isn't a problem, but I certainly would have a problem, say, setting the default keys to A, S, D, and F and telling the user that this is the case.If you take a look at the documentation for flash.ui.Keyboard, you'll see that there are constants for keyboard keys to key codes. However, these are only available in Adobe AIR and not the browser. This makes sense since not all operating systems and keyboards are alike (or present!), so key codes can vary.
So, how can I assign default keys that have meaning instead of picking key codes and praying?My only sane thought is to store the character codes for the key bindings and then provide an character code to String mapping so I can tell the user what to press. However, my gut tells me that this will break in subtle or not-so-subtle ways. Like CAPSLOCK.
I'm just finished my first month of getting to grips with flex. All of my projects so far have be very small fixed sized containers with everything in the application resting in an absolute position.The next up and coming project is going to require a more dynamic layout and need some advice.The app will consist of 3 container (not sure what ones to use yet)
Container 1Will be the entire width of the app and a quater of its height.
Container 2Will be beneath Container 1. It will be half the width of the app and 3 quaters of its height.
Container 3 will be the same as container 2.
I want to be able to collapse each container and have the other containers respond to this.For example, I would like to collapse container 1 so that container 2 and 3 go from 3 quaters height to 100% height.
If I collapse container 2 conatainer 1 remains the same but container 3 goes from half thes apps width to 100% of the width.
I would like to be able to open a specific browser and then go to a URL. What I mean is if the user has a Flash website open in IE I need for them to click on a button and this will open the link in Firefox. Is this possible?
Background...Our company uses Internet Explorer 6 as it's main browser on all employee PC's and for technical reasons IE cannot be updated. The problem is that the website App that I want to open has to be opened in a modern browser, the App will not run on an old browser such as this. Firefox is installed on all PC's, for this reason, but I cannot be sure the user has opened my website up in Firefox therefore I must check that they are using Firefox if not then it has to be opened first.
I was wondering how can I make my links in Flash readable for browsers? In other words, to be able to provide link to specific section of my website. For illustration, take a look at Jenson Button's website:The link above points to the "News" section, although the site is in flash.
I was working on a project, copying and pasting a large amount of frames and objects when Flash CS4 would not let me save, the message was something like "cannot save due to an unknown error" so I closed it and opened again, and the following error popus came up repeatedly:
1) "The following panel layout is missing or could not be read:/Users/(my name)/Library/Application Support/Adobe Flash CS4/en/Configuration/Workspace/Animator.xml
The application will not have have a correct layout. Please load one from Windows - > Workspace."
I looked for the file and it's actually in the folder.I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash CS4 twice, and the entire Creative Suite once already, none of this has solved the issue.
[Flex 4] Float left or right in layouts or containers?i have a main container, that is dynamic, 100% width, and in it there are 3 components. one should be floating to left, to right and the other will be centered. how do i do that?
I have a general Flash question. I have got 2 .SWF wrappers (Playbook and Android,that work perfectly) that takes any .SWF file and wraps it up as an application. I'm hoping to make 1 application and have it run on both the Blackberry Playbook and any Android device.Technically everything is perfect but the problem I am having is with the layout.For example if an object is placed at x= 512 y=400 then it looks great on the Playbook but that looks horrible on an Android screen thats not 1024x800px. What I want to be able to do is something like (x=DeviceWidth/2), (y= DeviceHeight/2) so that it resizes and repositions itself automatically. An example of where I need to change the code is shown belowbt1.tween("_y", 400, 0.5, "easeOutBack");
I want to use the same movieclips (some are button movieclips) but be able to have a function lay them out at runtime in two (or more) layouts. Just the _x and _y position like in this example:I'd like to layout the mcs with just actionscript. So it can be hardwired into the movie's script with parameters A yielding layout A, et cetera.
Virtualized Layouts are nice, but I find that they often feel a bit "chunky" due to the "tightness" of the virtual range. This could be improved by increasing the range - one or two steps ahead (and behind) would often be enough to improve the "responsiveness" of the list, especially when external resources (like images) need to be loaded.
Suppose you have a view, which contains three control A, B and C. The control A and B are in a HGroup, which itself is inside a VGroup with C.
Based on user interaction, I'd like to re-arrange the controls to new layouts. For example all three inside a VGroup. Or for example a layout, which hides A and B and maximizes C in size.
While I could hand-write the code, I'd like to use something like a layout template. A template, which contains placeholders for A, B and C. Give the current view, I'd like to pass the new template and the view should rearrange.
I have a Flash movie which fills the whole browser window. This means that always the key events are catched ("stolen") by the Flash movie only, when using Firefox. IE7 seems to be working as I want.
I want for example ctrl+w (close window), ctrl+n (new window), ctrl+t (new tab) to work in Firefox while the focus is on my Flash movie. How to accomplish this?
I have 2 scenes. In both scenes, I have a movie clip that moves via keyboard control. If the goto next scene is triggered by the movie clip in the first scene the keyboard control works in the second. However, if I use a button to move to the next scene then there isn't any control over the movieclip in that scene. I've traced the keyCode in the second scene and it is picked up but the switch statement doesn't run. I'm migrating to Actionscript 3.0 and updating something I created in 2.0. I would like to do it without writing a class.
When using a notebook and I have remarked that I cannot enter numerical character with shift + a letter to enter number.Is this a bug in flash ? How to circumvent this ?
How do? Edit the field with numeric keypad, not a full keyboard my code: <s:TextInput text="{TransactionObject.cartao}" id="item" restrict="0123456789" /> app for Android and playbook
I get an error while extracting the asdoc of my flash professional project:
Code:
C:...Main.as(33): Spalte: 73 Fehler: Access of possibly undefined property D through a reference with static type Class. private var moveRightArray:Array = new Array(Keyboard.RIGHT, Keyboard.D); ^ C:...Main.as(33): Spalte: 73 Fehler: Access of possibly undefined property D through a reference with static type Class. private var moveRightArray:Array = new Array(Keyboard.RIGHT, Keyboard.D);
I have recently started working with Mahjong game. But being not so experienced developer. I am just confuse about many aspects of it. So if anyone could throw some light on it. I have to build the game where there could be different number of tiles on screen. 32, 48, 64 , 80, 96, 112 and so on Now I have questions regarding the levels of blocks in this game. I mean the layouts of the game should be predefined or they should be dynamically created? Also I wanted to know how the surface of enable and disable symbols are created?
What I want is a hint how to make a specific thing happen while clicking a specific button. Like "if I click button 1, do this". Would like to use this script though I'm gonna add buttons over time and this is an easy way to have the functionality working.
Here's the code:
Attach Code
function hitButton(btn) { btn.onRollOver = function() { this.colorTo (0xC4006A);
i need to change the colour of a graphic in a specific movie in a specific frame. if i have a movie clip instance-named "sidetext" thats 15 frames long, and i want a graphic in the movie, called "letterp" to change to one of four colours that i want it to randomly at frame 10 and stay that colour uintil frame 15, how can i do this?
how do i export specific frames not all frame. ex: if flash has 1 to 200 frames. here i want to export 51 to 150 frames as a movie. if there is any command or plugin to export movie like this.
so i need to make a flash that will do the next things.if user press button "x" on the next frame should display "x" text from a xml.if user press button "y" on the next frame should display "y" text from a xml.
I have been doing really well figuring everything out up until now.[code]How it stands, what is this link pointing to? Can I make it target a specific frame in a specific movie clip?And if someone would be so kind and explain what this is saying in 3rd grader terms.
