ActionScript 3.0 :: Buttons Not Functioning Correctly - Jumps To Another Frame
Sep 10, 2009
I'm developing a site that has different pages on different frames. My buttons work correctly, and go to the correct frame, however, if I press it twice, it jumps to another frame. I have the actions to stop at each frame and this is the code I am using for the navigation.
When I embed a swf it does not function the way it does when not embeded. I dont no what the problem could be. Here are the links and source code below. The scroll bar on the bottom does not function and the 360 click and drag of the photos does not work.
Code: //******************* Scroll Functions for Large Images ******************************* var maxSpeed:uint=50;
I am writing a large elearning course using flash.As a break for the student, I want to include a breakout game on one frame. I tried loading the game (game01.swf) into an MC container. The game loaded but did not function correctly.Then, using the Timeline Select All Frames, Timeline Copy, and Timeline Paste functions, I copy/pasted the game layers into an inserted MC symbol. Then I pasted the MC symbol onto the desired course frame. The game still did not run correctly.
I have a simple loop that duplicates a movieclip. I have 2 frames within this mc and I am trying to play frame 2 when mouse roll over. I am trying to add a mouse_over listener and keep receiving an error: brief account of my code is:
Code: for (var i:Number=0; i<10; i++) { var item:NewItem = new NewItem(); item.name = "item" + i;
when I try and rollover the item I receive:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::Stage@36ccd089 to flash.display.MovieClip.at forloopas3_fla::MainTimeline/controlOver()
I have an Moveclip with 24 frames on for each hour of the day/night how do i do so the frame jumps to the next frame each hour? I know there is a way .. I saw it on an site ( dont know wich one ) so.. How do i make it change every hour ?

I am using Flash CS4 and AS3. Can anyone advise me why my links work perfectly well when I use "Test Movie" - and yet don´t function when posted on-line via Dreamweaver 4?
I had the buttoms working but as soon as i converted them into movie clips to spice them up they don't seem to excecute the button anymore, im using the code from voetsjoba tutorial transitions between external swf's
It's a simple animation. Rectangle with a med. quality blur filter & 0% opacity tweened several frames later to med. quality blur filter & 80% opacity. This is a normal motion tween. So what it does is fade in, fade in, fade in...then oops! - jumps to 80% opacity. The last frame of the tween is 80% opacity, but the frame before that is significantly lower in opacity. So for some reason it's jumpy.
This was happening to me before with a different .fla when I had one blur filter on low quality and the other on medium. But in this instance, both keyframes have the same quality.
I have a flash file with a MC "wmc" which contains the following script to randomize labels on load as well as for next and prev buttons to function. I used the prev/next btn scipt in a previous file but for some reason the buttons are no longer functioning in this one. I must be missing something elementary. The actual file is available via the following link (see the "workmc" MovieClip in layer "wimages"):URL...[code]
I have created flash buttons for one of my websites but they do not work properly. Unless there is a (www) in the URL the buttons do not work. For example,If my address reads [url]...the buttons do not send you to the page when you click on them. However, if you go to [url]... the buttons when clicked send you to the pages.I have set all the links to [url]... but that does not stop a user to navigate to the site using [url].... instead of [url]....
The list items also have buttons so that when you click on them, they do some things... but when you mouse onto them, the "rollOut" button is triggered and it goes away.
So, is there a way to have two buttons functioning with one on top of the other?
Is it possible to have two buttons functioning at the same time? For instance, let's say you've got a dynamically generated list, with clickable items, that you want to disappear when the user mouses off of it...
The way I have it set up now, the list exists on top of a large invisible button with something like

I can make "normal" preloaders work, you know, with a bar that goes up and all. But I'm curious about a preloader wich jumps to a different frame in lets say "loader" MC. I can't really explain so here's the code that I thought would work:
I have a dial that can be rotated and scrolls between 40 and 210. At the moment, this works all the time. Is there a way of getting this to work only when a button remains depressed?
I've set up a movie clip containing a button that jumps to frame two when pressed, and back to frame one when pressed again. SO the dial needs to work when the movie clip (containing the button) is stopped on frame two, but not on frame 1.
A friend of mine wants to have some navigation-based mc links in frame 1, then nav to a certain frame, and then have a "back" button. When the nav mc links are clicked, the timeline skips to a given frame label. Pretty simple.
Most of the links have the same nav mc in them, so when I nav to them, I can also access any of the other frames via something like:
linkg.Contact_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,Contact_btn_clicked); function Contact_btn_clicked(e:MouseEvent):void{ gotoAndStop("ContactPage"); }
The code above is in the first frame, and it is on it's own layer which spans the entirety of the frames in the project, so I would think that these function definitions would persist. But, when I go to a specific link, which does not have the nav mc in it, and then hit that particular frame's "back" button, all of my function definitions are gone, even though the nav mc links are now present, and as I mentioned the listeners should be active.
First off, I am new Second off, I hate action script it's a pain in the ass. Here's what im dealing with: Im making an info point computer program in flash cs3. After making several pages I am forced to make a navigation button to jump to the first frame(home).
At the home page you will be sent to several different pages (these links work just perfect. To create a home button i've made an button with the same code
Code: home_now.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,homeClick); function homeClick(event:MouseEvent):void{ gotoAndStop(1); } Unfortunate this does not work, while the links at the home page do work.
I've tried several things to fix it, but it won't do: - Send to tagged frame "home" instead of frame "1". - Change the instance name - Putt the actionscript in the exact same frame.
Weirdly enough the home button does work on the keyframe where it is placed, even though I pushed the frame over all the other pages it wont jump to home.
I created a basic slideshow with a Next and Previous button. I attach this code in the first frame of the main timeline: Code: stop(); next_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, moveNext, false, 0, true); function moveNext(e:MouseEvent):void {nextFrame();} prev_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, movePrev, false, 0, true); function movePrev(e:MouseEvent):void {prevFrame();} It works fine, until I get to the last frame of the timeline (10th frame in this case). Then both buttons cease functioning. Why? The listeners should still be working.
holding shift and clicking allows you to drag the scroll panes into a different order. clicking one button in each of the scroll panes works fine. if you try clicking a second button in either of the scroll panes you will notice you have to click twice.
I seem to be having a very weird issue with AS3/Flash 9.
Let me paint the picture: we have a website that loads in 6 different icon buttons, each with their own animation for rollover/rollout. EVERY flash file and embedded timeline video for the icons is 30FPS. However, flash seems to sometimes make it's own decision on frame rate and suddenly the icons will speed up to what seems like 5x the normal frame rate (for example, running through the rollover animation in .5 seconds instead of 3 seconds.
if it would be possible to control time through ActionScript. What im mean here is that if, let say a certain effect just finished and i want to wait for 5 sec before it automatically jumps to the next specified frame i want to play. would this be possible with AS?? or other techniques maybe?
i'm looking for a code for a keycombmanager in AS3, if anyone have played the advergame from cokezero, you have to press a certain keycombination the movieclip kind of jumps to and play another frame, that's the kind of kombination i'm looking for. [URL]
I have been trying to build a navigation that has a rollout animation but functioning internal buttons. This navigation uses the theory I'm trying to recreate, it seems simple enough but I can't figure it out for the life of me![URL] I tried this variable, but it renders the internal buttons undetectable and is very unstable midanimation (if you rollover it while in transit, the button goes crazy):
The movie clip is called "theScene" and I have it created on Frame 60 of a movie clip when a button triggers the playhead to jump and stop at Frame 60. However, upon leaving that frame, it will not disappear, so I want to unload it upon leaving that frame.I put in the following code across all frames of the movie clip in its own layer:
I watch the video tutorial of Mr. Lee Brimelow, I follow the tutorials but I encountered an error the loaded swf file doesn't start at frame 1 it jumps up to 115 frames.preloader.flamain.fla - animation starts at frame 115main.fla containts different scenes.
This was created with frames in dreamweaver and the nav bar and index page movie are swf files. When you click on the pages in the nav bar it redirects to the index page. It does this the majority of the time and every now and again when you click it will go to the actual page.The way it is set up in dreamweaver, it has the nav movie in the top frame and the content in the bottom. All I did was change the old i.p address to the domain name because our host changed. I did nothing else and then this started not working correctly.I have checked and double checked all links in flash and they work from the swf but when it is loaded in the browser it does that weird linking to the index again. This is the code in flash to link to the pages:
