ActionScript 3.0 :: Calling A Function In A Swf With TLFTextField From An External Program Fails
Jul 6, 2011
I have a program A that loads another swf B, and after B is loaded, A will call a function of B.It used to work when B creates a TextField and uses TextFormat, but when I changed to creating a TLFTextField, I got this error:[code]I got Error #1069 again, but when I changed TLFTextField back to TextField, it works again.Test A can now find the function "changeText()" in Test B.
ARCITECHTURE:the way I've set up this Flash doesn't work properly.in my html I load a preloader.swf.this preloader.swf is build with ActionScript in the first frame.this preloader.swf loads a content.swf this content.swf is build with ActionScript in a Document Class...
everything works properly this far.MY PROBLEM:my problem comes when I - using JavaScript - try calling a function in my content.swf the function I try to call is this:
public function playThisMovie(theMovieToPlay:String):void { var newM:String = theMovieToPlay; ExternalInterface.call("alert", "the new movie is = "+newM); }
when calling this function nothing happens, even though I know the function exists..can it be, that I cannot call my function because it is inside my content.swf..and if yes, is there a workaround I can use?
Here's a coding question for the guru's I've written a simple function that will clear a form. I want to call this function from another function (4 of them to be exact). I could copy and paste code multiple times and everything will work. But where's the fun in that? There's something to be said about clean code.
For sake of explanation, the tween are working 4 layers that are on top of each other (don't ask )
How do I call a private function from an external ActionScript3 document? I'm working in Flash Builder 4, and I need to call a private function from an external AS3 document. I think I've imported it correctly....
I've tried looking everywhere for this answer, but I'm still at a loss. I'm beginning to think it's not possible or I'm just not looking in the right places.I have three swf files. The main container and then two external swf files being loaded into the main swf. Swf 1 (frame.swf) has a function on the main timeline that needs to be called from a button in swf 2 (toolbox.swf). My initial thought was to place the actionscript of frame.swf into a movieclip and call it from toolbox.swf using:_root.callFunction("PH", "doPhone");Although this would work, I cannot use this option. The actionscript of swf 1 must stay in the main timeline. Using a class file is not an option either. Is there any other way to call a function from the main timeline of an external swf?
I have a custom movie clip in the flvplayback skin and I am looking for a way to call an external js function.[code]Unfortunately, the External Function is not being called at all.
I'm using the official Adobe Facebook API in my Flash/AS3 application and for some reason the call the /me/picture seems to fail whereas the the call the /me/friends seems to work just fine: This works OK:
I have two swf files, where one (lets call it A) is supposed to load and display the other(B).
The first swf (A) is using the Loader class in AS3 to load the other. In fact the loading code in A is an exact copy of the Adobe example code from the livedocs for Loader.
The other swf (B) just spins some meaninless graphics in a loop, and has a document class that has one line of code in its constructor:
trace("B's stage is: " + stage);
When I start swf A, the loading of swf B starts fine. The progress is reported as traces all the way up to 100% before swf B's constructor is called and the following is traced:
B's stage is: null
THEN the complete handler is triggered (yes. AFTER the constructor was called for B with no stage).
The problem is that I really need B to have a stage for my project to work, as I will actually use stage, instead of just tracing it. I have really tried everything to get this working. Is there no way so soothe B into having a valid stage before its constructor is loaded?
Below is the script I'm using to pass a parameter to a script in the same server (and folder) as the flash file. It gives "null" as the required variable (use_url) value, instead of what the script is giving. The script itself works, when tested in a browser.
What it should do - it receives a value for "lesson_id" variable, passes it on to a script "movie_url" and receives a response with a new variable "real_url" and it's value.[code]...
I have created a simple flash movie which I use to stream MP3 files into HTML documents using the JavaScript Flash integration Kit. When an audio file has finished streaming it fires the onSoundComplete function; using the integration Kit as a proxy allows me to fire JavaScript events within the HTML document. The event fires correctly when I am streaming from the Internet, however, it fails to fire when the movie and the files are on the same, local, machine.The problem lies, I think, in the following lines of code:
I have this Simple Flash banner, that loads text, colors, and entire banner hyperlink from external .txt file into flash.For importing text into dynamic text fields with vars set i use
Ok So everything works nicely. I load flash i load text, and i also load hyperlink. So after a happy job i went to sleep and other morning i tried to enter website with HTML code, that shows flash and i noticed:
1. Some times flash loads animation, but doesn't load my data.txt and places where dynamic text should be are blank, also hyperlink doesnt work, because it also seems to fail to load.
2. So i press "Refresh" on explorer and data loads perfectly.
3. So i keep pressing refresh some times try to turn of explorer and i noriced that some times it fails to load data and only non dynamic flash animation is played, and some times it loads it nicely.
I am totally new to AS3.0 and OOP in general, so this is a very basic question I can't seem to figure out.I have a package.Inside that package is a class.
Inside that class is a function that initializes a timer called setTimer()
I am trying to run setTimer() when the program starts, but it seems that wherever I put the line setTimer(); in the program, I get an error.How and where can I run this function just once when the program starts, so I can initialize my timer?
in "on_loaded" function we compare "tn < total " (total is 24) if it's true goto and run "load_tn" function, but there is something that i can't understand when i debug it in first time when tn<total program goto and run load_tn but in second time it go to and continue and third time it goto and run load_tn and fourth time it continue and so on why first time it load_tn() and second time it continue and third time it load_tn() and fourth time it continue and so on.
ActionScript Code: function load_tn():void { var pic_request:URLRequest=new URLRequest(folder+filename_list[tn]); var pic_loader:Loader = new Loader();

I have an AS3 function that loads and audio file and then plays it. I have the pre-loader for the first audio file working - now I need to run the pre-load function before the 2nd audio file starts.
i'm trying to modify some code and can't figure out what the issue i'm having it. this is the(shortened) code:
public static function Lose():void { trace("OVER!"); Clock.stop();[code]...
this is the error i get: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method OverIt.i just want to call a function from inside of the public static funtion.both function are inside this class:
Okay so I am reading through sens tutorial on OOP and updating my game that I am making. It is much easier to code this way (IMO) but still hitting snags.I am trying to get through this code:
i'm making a program which used twitter connect as its core and it is developed with adobe AIR, the library i used it Tweetr, and everything is perfect until i don't find any example on how to logout and login again. I've used tweetr.destroy() and tweetr.endSession() but there is no effect in the program.
Is there a way for flash variables or text to become available to an external program? I have a flash projector and a windows program that I am writing and I need a way for the the windows program to recognize what the flash is doing (But the flash does not need to know what the windows program is doing.)
1) In my program, I am wanting to create a function that would take in the height and width of a loader object, compare them to the stage dimensions, and then scale the object in question before it is added to the display list. However, I have several different types of classes that I want to make use of this functionality. So what would be better, to create a NEW class that would have to be created each time a resize needed to occur, and is imported by all needed classes, or just have a function within each already existing object and copy that function to every class's scope that needs it? Would this be resolved by placing the function in question inside of the default package?
2) When accessing stage properties, are they a global or a relative scope? i.e.[code]would those two statements produce the same value regardless of whether they were in the default package or inside of 1300 classes? Or is the stage scope relative to some degree?
i have been messing around with a script found for a simple paint program. After adapting the code a bit for my own needs and getting an understanding of how it works I had a couple questions.first of all I need to create a button that will clear the stage (or more specifically lvg1)second what does e reference in lines similar to

I need to merge two flv files, using PHP. I can't use exec method. I am wondering if is possible to cut some part of one flv file (audio tag) and paste to another and overwrite duration for output file. [URL]..file-length-using-pure-php but I do not know how can I get an audio tag from a flv file? How many audio tags a flv file has? Which tags should I overwrite in output file to be able to play audio from two merged files?
I have been making a simple aplication and i have a problem i cannot find the solution (neither why it is happening) The thing i want to do is to dynamically add a canvas containing a button to the application and then i want the canvas to be moved from the left side of screen to the right. So i have made the following code
