ActionScript 3.0 :: Can't Get Newly Loaded Clip To Tween In

May 22, 2010

One last thing to do to finish a project and it turns out to be difficult and I can't figure out why. I'm loading in a jpg and when it loads I want to fade it in with a tween effect using tweener. The problem is that it's showing up on the screen as soon as it loads.[code]...

ActionScript 3.0 :: How To Reference Newly Loaded Images

May 5, 2010

I am loading some external images, that bit is sorted. What I cant seem to figure out is how to reference the newly loaded image.

Here is the snippet of code I have
ActionScript Code:
public function loadImg(img:String):void {
loader.load(new URLRequest(img));
myHolder.addChild(loader);
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loaded);
} private function loaded(event:Event):void {
//How do I reference the new image here so I can do stuff to it? }

I know how to do it in AS2 but cant seem to get at it here. Is it passed through the event?

Actionscript 3.0 :: XML Loaded And Tween - Loading Images Into A Movie Clip Consecutively

Jul 20, 2009

I am loading images into a movie clip consecutively - the code has flash read through the XML nodes one by one and load in the images one after the other. I need flash to recognize when all the images have been loaded, and at that stage I want it to tween the movieClip containing the images. I have it all working, except I am getting this weird glitch where the movie clip jerks from left to right while the image are loading (at least i think its when the images are loading!) - it then settles down and runs normally. the code is below, so can see what i mean by 'jerks from left to right' if you check out the site: [URL]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Get An Externally Loaded Mc (a Listener) To Execute A Tween When Another Movie Clip (a Broadcaster) Is Pressed?

Nov 28, 2007

I need an externally loaded mc (a listener) to execute a tween when another movie clip (a broadcaster) is pressed. So, when you press on mc1, mc2 executes a function. Sounds so simple. And I feel I almost cracked it. Now, I know the theory behind broadcasters and listeners, but my code simply doesn't work. I must be dumb since I couldn't figure it out from the senocular's tut on broadcasters and listeners.

To try to illustrate the problem more: listeners are a couple of arrows, left and right. They are movie clip buttons that work on the rewind principle. There's an externally loaded mc at the stage that executes its intro tween (nothing special), and when it stops I want it to start listening to the arrows. So, when on(release) on the arrow occurs, externally loaded mc executes it's outro tween, and at the end calls for the next externally loaded mc on the stage.

Now, to add another question; I have 6 externally loaded clips, called by the arrows. When the first and the last one are on the stage, I'd like to disable the previous, and the next buttons, respectively. I thought I'll just do arrow.enable = false in the first and the last clip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Targetting A Movie Clip - Loaded Into A Container Clip From Main Timeline

Nov 24, 2005

I am targeting a a movie clip. The problem is that all the syntax I have found for targetting clips looks like this: _root.sample_mc.sample2.mc. etc. The problem is, my target clip is in an swf that I've loaded into a container clip from my main timeline. So, essentially, I have a home.swf that loads menu.swf into a container called 'location'. In menu.swf, I have an MC called center, which contains the MC I am targetting called 'target'.

Actionscript 3 :: Accessing A Clip Inside Another Clip In A Loaded SWF-File?

Mar 1, 2010

I'm writing a card game in AS3. The artist I'm working with has produced (in Flash CS4) a single swf-file containing all the card graphics and animations. The structure of the fla working file looks something like this:

- Scene
- CardGraphics (Movie Clip)
- CardFront
- CardBack
- CardValueImage (Movie Clip)

In the program I create 52 instances of my Card class, each having a MovieClip instance created from the loaded swf. The idea is to set the frame of the CardValueImage MovieClip to correspond to the Card instance's suit and rank member variables. However, I can't figure out how I access CardValueImage and call gotoAndStop (or whatever method I will need to call).

ActionScript 2.0 :: Newly Published Swf Not Behaving Like Original Swf

Mar 18, 2011

I'm maintaining a Flash site for a client, and I received all the fla files from the original programmer. Now it's time for me to make some changes, and I'm finding that when I generate a new swf from one of the files, it doesn't behave the way the currently live file behaves.

The main file is titled flashindex.swf. On load, it loads home.swf. home.swf contains an image that slides out and a video player that fades up.

It works fine on the current live site - lisahaisha-dot-com (not enough posts to post links)

But if I use the fla file the developer provided and generate a new swf, the video player fades up, but the image doesn't slide out.[url]...

There are a few other external files that get pulled in (an .as file, and another .swf), and I've made sure that they're all in the right place. I get no compiler or output errors when I publish. I have combed the code, and can't figure out why her picture doesn't slide out. It seems there's something going on in the actionscript in flashindex.fla that is telling home.swf to behave differently. [code]...

ActionScript 2.0 :: [FMX] Color Of Newly Attached Movieclips?

Jun 9, 2004

I want to add a "progress meter" whenever the user goes to the next question (whether the question was answered correctly or not). I want to attach movieclips along the bottom line, and I want the user to be able to specify some color and shape preferences for these "progress meter" elements. I'm bilingual, so I included my original, french comments (pour tous ceux qui sont francophones).

English:

Code:
function ajouterBalle(couleur, etat) {
var posX = (quelleQuestion*(640/ballesTotales))-(640/(ballesTotales*2));
this.attachMovie("mc_balle", "balle"+quelleQuestion, quelleQuestion);
this["balle"+quelleQuestion]._x = posX;

[code]....

mc_balle is actually just a movie clip with 3 keyframes, with shapes made of a fill (and no border).

I call upon the ajouterBalle function this way, which is supposed to create a "balle" or "progress meter node" using the right shape and color:

Code:
ajouterBalle(0xFF0000, 2);

The balls position themselves in the exactly right fashion and shape...but the color doesn't apply! So I'm wondering where is the problem. Perhaps with the dynamically created color contructors? Or the line just after, when I set the color?I am able to change the color of a background movieclip (read: non-attached) with no problem, but the dynamically created ones don't work...

Since the stars are instances of the object, they are giving instance names like instance67, which makes them hard to remove.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Referencing A Newly Created Class Instance

Jun 16, 2011

I am completely new to actionscript although I do come from a OOP background. I have been asked to trial Flash and Actionscript 3 in particular - so I do come with a few preconceptions on how I expect actionscript to behave. I have a problem I donot understand. I have created a new class and to test it I use a simple test harness in the form of a .fla file.

The issue I have is when I create a new instance of the class and assign it to a variable, subsequent background changes to that instance of the class are not 'picked-up' when referenced through the variable. I would expect that given instance of class could be assigned to many different variables and any updates using one variable would accessible using any of the other variables.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tween Movie Clip Via Button Outside Same Movie Clip?

I am trying to move a movie clip containing content via AS3 tween with a button outside of the movie clip. I have achieved this effect on another project by using the following code:

Actionscript Code:
var myxTween:Tween=new Tween(content_mc,"x",Regular.easeOut,content_mc.x,theXPosition,.8,true);

I set up a moveContent funtion using that tween, then used:

Actionscript Code:
content_mc.aboutBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, aboutClick);function aboutClick(e:MouseEvent):void { trace("aboutClick");current_btn=e.currentTarget.name; moveContent(588,-538,"about.swf");}

to move the content. I am just wondering how to achieve the same effect but use a button on a separate layer that will be static.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Tween Through Dynamically Loaded Images?

May 14, 2009

I have a working AS2 banner that loads in an array of images into a movieclip using flashvars and then cycles through these (there's no limit on the array length).

Unforunately, the images couldn't alpha tween into eachother as the AS2 script needs to be seperated onto sperate keyframes in order to count through the array.

I've created another movieclip which loads in the 'next' image in the array, so that when the current image fades down, the next fades up.

So to break down:

bannerContainer_mc - loads current image
nextContainer_mc - loads next image

Unfortunately when the timeline loops to the start again, bannerContainer_mc loads in the image which was previously loaded into nextContainer_mc. This creates a 'jolt' in the animation as the same image is re-loaded.

Is there any way of perhaps caching nextContainer_mc at the end of the banner sequence, to save loading it again in bannerContainer_mc?

Fadein A Background With A Alpha Tween After It's Loaded In By An UILoader

Apr 14, 2010

I want to fade in a background with a alpha tween after it's loaded in by an UILoader. Everything seems to be working great when I do a Test Movie (in Flash) or view it in IE. However, I encounter a problem when viewing in Firefox. Somehow the alpha does'nt come up to 1(100%). Sometimes my background image is barely visable and sometimes it's at ~90%. It seems to be completely random.

Quote:

//load random background (1 to 10)
var randomNumber:Number=Math.ceil(Math.random()*10);
trace(randomNumber);

[code]....

I've tried increasing the final value (Regular.easeOut,0,1,2,true) and this will change something but doesn't solve the problem. I've also tried instead of fading in the background to fade out a overlaying vectorshape, but same result.Is it possible it has something to do with other script/my background img size/??.
